A minor question about hockey

Hey all. Where is the best place to sit at a hockey game? This will be my first one, and I don't want to sit somewhere boring or where I can't see the fighting. LOL

Behind the penalty box, which is in the middle side of the stadium?

Behind the home team, which is the next section over from the middle?

As close to the action as possible, or a little farther up so as to see as much as possible?

I'm a hockey virgin, so I need some help. Help!

Can questions about hockey be anything but minor?

Please le me assist in your deflowering *snicker*. First of all its not all about fighting (ugly american stereotype;))

My favorite place to watch a game is medium high at the end you get the most comprehensive view that way and get to see goals (up close and personal). Center ice seating is overated since you arent particularly close to either end and are only close to reall exciting stuff like "the trap" and center ice face offs. YAWN

I would caution you that if you do sit at the "end" you either sit below the level of "the glass" or be VERY alert for errant pucks. Taking a frozen peice of rubber travelling in excess of 90mph in the chops can ruin your whole day.

Apparently Mr Nightlite is not a fan. Maybe his taste is limited to his mouth.

S'okay its not for everyone.

I went to my first professional hockey game last fall. We ended up sitting at one of the corners, only four rows up behind the high part of the glass. From where I was sitting it looked like it was a very safe place to sit. Plus sitting that close to the glass, the sound effects are wonderfully amplified when the puck hits the glass, or players are thrown into it.

However, at one point during the match, I look out the corner of my eye to see a dark figure coming towards my face. As I looked around and realized it was the puck, the guy next to me whipped his hand with a mitt and caught the puck about 4 feet from the side of my face.

Needless to say, that guy was my best friend after that and did not buy another beer all night.

April, heed Expertise's advice. Sit right below the glass and keep your eyes peeled all night, or sit way up in the atmosphere where you are in no danger of tasting that puck.

You've got mail. And here I was thinking that sitting in the middle was a good idea. *shakes head* What was I thinking? LOL

That sweet face. I cringe at the thought of it being altered by black rubber.

You be carefull young lady.;)

I've been lucky enough the last couple years to have a friend with acess to a corporate box, so I haven't actually had to sit in real seats (btw, the corporate box is the best place to sit, especially when your friend just signs off on food and drinks, lol). But from what I can remember, best seats for me were on the blue line, just above glass height. Here in Pittsburgh that's about half way up section B, probably about 20-25 rows off the ice.

The way the game is played now, there is a lot of action between the blue lines, and there's nothing like hearing a guy groan and smack on the ice after a good solid open ice hit...

Anyone remember what Darius Kasparaitis did to Eric Lindros??? Solid hit between the blue lines... Nothing like seeing a big guy skating with his head down and then *THUMP*.....

Thank God hockey starts this week.

Lasher

Kasparitis can be a greasy little prick but he has made an effort to reinvent a lost art form.... the hip check.

The "trap" "left-wing lock" et al causes a tremendous amount of neutral zone play .... but its not exactly riveting entertainment for me.

Give me a great rush, a pretty completion on a two on one, crashing the goal mouth, a blast from the point, a great glove save.... Defensive hockey while effective and necessary in todays game is boring by comparison to the "firewagon" hockey of days gone by.

My thanks to all. I have my tickets now. Gosh, my first hockey game! I'm kinda excited about it. Seats behind and slightly to the side of one of the goals. Section 101, first row. Should be protected from flying pucks, teeth, and ice. I hope. Thank you so much, Expertise.

Next time, I'll go get my tickets at the arena. Man, Ticketmaster really gets you with the fees! Anyway, I'll let you all know how it goes at the end of the month. The game's not until the 21.

Good choice. Close enough to taunt the "tender" and have the adrenaline rush caused by pucks, stick and bodies crashing and caroming off the glass in front of you.

Have fun cutie.

How is hockey tougher than football?

The two hundred plus pound guy is coming at you at 25mph plus, he's carrying a potentialy lethal weapon and ........ there is absolutely no way you can run "out of bounds"

*I just quoted Don Cherry...whats next? Crack*

LMAO! Kasparaitis IS a greasy little prick, that's what makes him who he is. I hated him when he was with the Islanders, and the day we signed him I went "WOOOO HOOO".......

I lump him together with Claude Lemeuix, Deon Sanders and Dennis Rodman.

Not particularly likeable as human beings or players, but you would far rather have 'em playing for ya' then 'agin ya'

The bastard has a killer hip check which is no small skill.

My illusions are shattered like a jawbone that was smacked by a runaway puck

Its not about fighting? Men flying around on the ice in speeds just below the Indy 500 speed limit waving sticks at each other isn't about fighting? Well darn it, it should be.

Sports are about one of two things. Fighting or tight uniforms. Hockey players can't wear nice tight ass complimenting uniforms so they have to fight. All the other sports with nice tight ass showing uniforms get booed when fights start, hockey, with its loose uniform and tons of necessary padding gets cheered when fights start.

Or is the Muff wrong once again...

Muffin saves the day with her lowest common denominator insight. I had never really thought of it that way.

I'm apparently not very sexy then. I have fought on the ice a grand total of three times. I am a more than competent fighter off the ice but it does not necessarily transfer. I was beaten like a red headed stepchild all three times.

Therefore I am UN sexy.

Excuse me while I go sulk.

LIAR!!!!!! Can I go with you? I wanna suck too, I mean sulk, yeah, suck, NO sulk, I wanna suck you, I meant suck with, no I mean SULK with you.

Lets put it this way, during the super bowl party everyone was yelling go go go get a touchdown oh you stupid fuck how can you fumble that!!! I'm yelling would you look at the ass on that guy!!!!!!!

So, can I? Suck, I mean sulk you? I mean with you?

(Actually, I like hockey, its an essiting sport to watch, lots of energy and motion. And the skill it takes to play the game surpasses about every other team sport there is. I can barely skate, let alone swing a stick and hit a hockey puck while doing it. I put my hockey pucks right above the frame on my truck, instant lift kit!)

I'm gonna go suck Expertise now, I mean sulk Expertise. Dammit. I mean sulk with Expertise. Don't worry if you hear him scream, thats pleasure. I sulk well :D

KillerMuffin, you almost always make me laugh or smile. How do you do that? These days I need it, so keep it up.

Expertise unsexy? Not to me. :D Hell, the man's mind alone is enough to keep me occupied for most of the weekend! Oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that. Oh well.

KM, you need any help with that sucking...err, sulking?

Hockey for Dummies. Must go get that book. LOL

If you're really interested there are a couple of excellent books by New Brunswick authors on that very subject.

Hockey for Girls (grrrlls) by Stacy Wilson. Canadian womens team captain and an excellent player.

The other is sort of a hockey for dummies by a woman who came to love the game as a fan. Can't remember the title.

ALWAYS need help sucking, I mean sulking Expertise. (Don't tell anyone, but I think he's a bit more man than I can handle by myself in one sucking, er, sulking.)

AAND WOMANLOVER BODYSHECKS ANOTHER ONE OF HIS PERSONALITIES OFF THE PUTER....

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

Been coaching hockey for past ten years! And the best place to sit is in the players box. I think you ladies would really enjoy it there.
As for the action you have a 50-50 chance on picking your end depending the teams night. If your intrested in the game sit higher up and if you want more action, sit lower down and closer to the corner.
The boys are taught to dump it into the corner and hammer the shit out of who ever goes in first.
you will find the centre boring because all they do is clear the puck from there.

Have a great time!

She sorta' went top shelf and blew that one by me too.

Ahhh the scenario.

Me sitting in a dressing room, alone stripped to the skin above the waist but with my pants shinpads and socks as well as my skates still on..... bent at the waist.... glistening with sweat .....a fresh white towel covering my head and sheilding my face.... in walks April and Muffin...

*Damnit even if I am UN sexy i'm damn horny all of a sudden*

Well, check out Womanlover's thread Stalking on Story Feedback. The boy was bodyshecking himself all over the place.

Sorry. I got a little excited about sucking Expertise. I mean sulking. Yeah, sulking. Gawd that man has an ass on him that won't quit... Oooooooooh. Is it hot in here or is it just me?

Ya Expertise theres something about the atmosphere sitting there half undressed, the smell of beer, the adrenalin flowing. all sweaty ...damn now I'm all worked up too...thanks.

No, Muffin, baby, it's burning up in here. I had to leave the computer! LOL Hmm, maybe that says something about the last time either one of us got nekkid? My mind is in overdrive right now. Got some errands to go do, so I'm leaving him in your very capable hands. Just don't hurt him...much. :D

Ex, I'm working on a letter for you, so check your mail before you leave for the day, okay?
