A Marriage of Opposistes

Princess Raven scream silently as she brushed her hair. She was 19 yrs old with golden blonde hair and eyes to color of the sea. How Dare her father marry her off to some foreign Prince just to make the peace talks go faster?

"Raven this is for the best. If there is to be any peace there must be a bond between our two kingdoms."

The prince could be the ugliest man for all she knew of him. How dare her father do this without talkign to her first?!

No buy the time she found out the contract had been signed and the wedding already planned.

"Princess." her maid came in and bowed. "Your father wishes to see you." Raven growled and stormed out of her room and went to her father's rooms.

Raven stormed into her father's study. King Thanis saw the look on his daughter's face and saw she was still mad. "Raven, I..."

She held her hand up, "i don't want to here it father. I still haven't forgiven you for doing this to me. peace talks or no, you shouldn't have done it."

she made her way over and sat before the fire, "I don't even know this man and you expect me to call him husband?"

He wasn't too sure of this. His birth at least placed him in castle quarters, away from the endless work of serfdom. He was loyal to his King, but the king, was, well, pragmatic. He knew arranged marriages were not always happy things, the King himself a product of such. The King had his mistress, the Queen had her lover, and business was run as usual.

But the Queen was not exactly kind. She was harsh, domineering, and selfish. Her lover was not her first, the others cast into the dungeon or set to slavery. The Queen had her eye on him. The King then put him on a strict diet, made him to work to make him more muscular, and had his servants groom him. He knew what would happen. He did not want that fate.

So after currying up to the King, the Servant volunteered for this diplomatic mission, through bandit-infested forest, harsh badlands, and mountainous wastes. Better weather than a dungeon, he supposed. He just hoped he was not trading one Queen for another.

He and the rest of the Prince's entourage arrived at the castle gates. After his preparations, a bath in unsubtly perfurmed salts, a frilly shirt two sizes small, some scented oil, and tights with a stupid codpiece, he gathered the Prince to be presented to the King.

"Thank god the Prince likes women," he said.
