Tiger can have the worst day of his life on the links and he still gets to go home to...whomever.

Alex Rodriquez might go 0 for 4 on a bad day for him.

Football? No one's ever had an arm or leg slashed off on the gridiron.

Hockey? No one's ever burned to death on an ice rink.

But, when a Indy car driver has a bad day...

...it can be a really, really bad day.

Mike Conway had a bad day at last year's Indianapolis 500: watch what happened here...

Today, in the third race he's run since shattering a leg and breaking his back last May at Indy, Mike Conway completed the next to final step of his rehab by winning the Long Beach Gran Prix:

When practice begins on May 15 for the 100th anniversary running of the Indianapolis 500, Conway will return to the Brickyard to answer whether he'll have a better day - or worse - than his last day at the Speedway.

Nevertheless, when the green flag flies at 1200 ET on May 29 to begin the 95th running of the Indianapolis 500, Mike Conway will be a huge favorite to win...

It's hard to understand how the guy survived. It's also hard to understand how his car got that high up in the air.

Indy cars don't have fenders - they're open wheeled.

Conway was down low under Hunter-Rey when his right front tire made contact with Hunter-Rey's left front.

When two spinning tires on Indy cars come into contact, at least one of the racers will usually be "launched" - and it's almost always the one who initiates the contact.

That Conway survived is, indeed, a miracle...

...but you can also see how miraculous it is that Hunter-Rey came out of it without a scratch - let alone his head.

Watch again as Conway's car, float-flipping thru the air like a 1300 pound waffle, comes oh-so-close to decapitating Hunter-Rey...
