A few years ago, I read a wonderful story but haven't been able to find it again. I'm just going to put down some vague things I remember from it.
It is in the bdsm/noncon section. Historical.
The hero takes the heroine to his Manor because the heroine's father bartered her while gambling.
One particular incident I remember is that he punishes her for not calling him 'my lord' even though he never told her to.
After the story progresses a little, the heroine runs away and stays at a lady's place she got to know through the hero. The hero is devastated and spends a lot of time and effort to find her. She refused to go back with him. The hero then promises to be her slave for a month to make up for her mistreatment. She goes back with him.
Another incident that comes to mind is when she punishes him to sit at the front of the carriage with the rider because he does not call her 'my lady'.
Hero is a servant in his own house. The servants love the lady. They both realize they're in love and she forgives him. In he end though, she tells him she wants freedom. He releases her off her dbt and she leaves. He's, again, devastated. In a fit, he throws a book in his library and comes across a book with a note from the heroine that leads him back to her. The last chapter is about them living a hero-led relationship and that they had a daughter.
A lot of secondary characters also come to mind but writing them down will make this message look more scattered, I think.
A few more incidents:
When the heroine stopped eating to protest for something, the hero denied one of the other maids a meal too, untimately forcing the heroine to start again.
While the hero is amongst the servants in the second half of the story, the head cook good-naturedly makes fun of his shabby appearance. He snaps at her. The heroine is upset with him. He makes up for it by giving the cook a day off and cooking himself.
The heroine changed the uniforms of the maids because theirs was too dull.
If anyone can help me figure out which story this is and could lead me to it, I'd be so very grateful.
