College was murder. Aside from being your late blooming, youngest in the class freshman hottie, it seemed that, family, work and a life were just too much to handle. What tended to happen when you were juggling so much for so long, and you were getting tired. You fell behind. And what happened when you fell behind? You dropped something. In this case, it was her boyfriend.
Not that she minded, it seemed college was getting to his head. Drama club, Basketball, Track team and swim team were enough to try and cope with, and then ticking on a insane boyfriend who'd rather skip college and go straight to being a bum on the streets, somehow Mikaela knew she was already in as deep as it got. Way over her head. The neartest break, it so seemed, was a three week Spring Break. And god, she was going to savor it.
The good thing about having generations and generations of family members right in one spot was the wealth. North Carolina was a saint for age old families, as it tended to be East. But she didn't favor another family reunion. No, she wanted to go someplace warm, and fun...alone for once, just to get away. And it seemed that she'd happen to stumble across that place with a passing bill board. Las Ventanas al Paraíso, the resort in Mexico, Cabos at the tip of the Baja Penninsila. She'd checked into the resort ahead of time, and it turned out, that was just what she was looking for.
"You sure you'll be alright Mikki?" Her father asked her once more as she finished packing her things, put her cat inside of her carrier and headed out to the waiting Mustang, as her brother would be driving. With a reassuring smile, the eighteen year old grinned mischieviously.
"Oh sure, I've got my cell phone and everything. I'll call you as soon as I get to the airport." It would be odd, being in another country, Mexico for sure. But not too different, she so hoped, according to the advertisements. Mikki had heard enough stories about american girls in Mexico, she didn't favor adding her own ditziness to the mix.
She was tall, your obvious athletic type, with skin holding a healthy tan from the sun, a light, lithe appearance and chocolate brown, straight locks, curving inward as they went further down. Large, doe like hazel eyes seemed to set off her appearance beautifully, along with a set of lucious, ruby hued lips always kept in a pretty smile. As expected, she kept a 'fragile' looking appearance, dressed lightly in typical American fashion of a pair of light material pants, flaring at the bottom, cotton rather than jean and colored navy blue, and a matching strapless top, ending just before her stomach, a light jacket set over it. Sunglasses on her head and wearing black flip flop shoes, she got in the car, checked for the cell phone and took a last look at the large, peaceful little house in it's perfect little neighborhood. She had never liked being too close to her parents, thus the apartment...and if she acted up there, one could only wonder what trouble she'd get into in a whole different country. While she exchanged a few words with her brother, she secretly turned off her cell phone.
Bound westward, the trip had been nice. With fair weather, riding first class on the bus, with of course the occasional worries of her cat, arriving in San Jose del Cabo she smiled softly to herself. Now, all she needed to do was get her cat, and have her things taken to the resort. Approaching the desk, she spoke briefly to the man there to retrieve the feline, called for a limo as she tended to do, and started off.
"The pictures make this place seem so much duller...it's gorgeous..." The massive hotel stood there, right along the beach among the busy city, and she couldn't help but smile from inside of the limo. Outside, though, was where she wanted to be.
Stepping from the limo she gazed around. She'd never seen so many friendly faces. Charlotte, North Carolina was busy, yes, but this seemed so much busier...so much more luxurious. She caught quite a few glances, and gave quite a few glances as a man followed her with her bags, and the cat for sure. Mikki paused for a moment, entering the hotel and having her things sent up the her suite. No, she didn't want to go up so soon. Among the people talking and chatting, the sun still high in the sky she smiled. Yes, two and a half weeks in paradise, what more could she want? Of course, Mikki couldn't help but think of a few things...
