A little help with story organization, please.

I'm long-time reader & big fan of the site, who joined recently to try my hand at story writing.

I'm thinking I should enlist the support of an editor, but before I do, I have a couple questions on organization:
1. I have a finished draft of part 1. It's got just over 11,000 words in 9 Chapters. I'm not sure whether its better to submit each chapter as a separate story, or if part 1 should be a single submission.

I've seen it done both ways, and as a reader, prefer fewer, longer stories over many, shorter ones, but Part 1 seems kind of long to go in a single submission.

2. I feel kind of silly asking this question, I should know the answer, but I'm a little unsure. I've started part 2, and have a rough draft of the first chapter. Should I renumber the chapters in part 2? Other words, does part 2 start with chapter 10, or chapter 1.

I welcome all thoughts, opinions, ideas.

Thanks very much,

11,000 words is three Lit. pages, which is about average for the length of an entry here. If you have chapter averaging averaging not much more that 1,000 words each, the most frequent comment you'll get on the entries here will be that they're too short. So, I'd suggest running that as one piece.

The usual way when a novel has parts designated is to just keep on trucking with a single run of chapter numbers.

that is just the information I need.

It'll probably be shorter when I get to the final draft. I tend to be a bit verbose in early drafts.

Thanks very much!
