i've been mostly laying back and observing since i registered a few days ago and have been impressed by the talent and compassion and diversity represented on this board..not really what i expected but what a pleasant surprise...i'd love to see where this goes..here's the first verse of a song i'm working on..add a verse or a chorus..make it funny or poignant or whatever you feel like making it.

pictures drawn in crayon hangin' on the icebox door.
jelly painted handprints on the wall.
cookie crumbs and leggos scattered on the kitchen floor.
naked little three year old runnin' down the hall.

I've got nothing to add, but I wanna know when you were in my house!

that was funny cowgirl..the clean up never stops does it...it's been way too many years since my baby was 3 but i remember it like yesterday..this is going to be a song for her..

so, you're into rap, huh?:D

welcome to the boards, sugah. I like it. Has the flavor of "butterfly kisses".

Well the cookie crumbs don't go away, will always be replaced with new. The crayon drawings are still on the fridge, not so many new ones now.

The song for my son will have to have a verse about his first kiss, cause I think its going to happen soon. He's had his first slow dance with a girl last year and the picture is hanging on his bedroom wall.

And no, I can't seem to write those words, I'm not ready for it yet even though he is and dammit it hasn't been that long since he was 3.

I toyed with this and kept coming back to teh mom in the picture...

While I couldnt' come with anything solid, some phrases were

Twenty nine years of broken dreams
were the only make up on her face
Hearing the traffic flow by and the train's (or neighbors) scream
wondering How did I get to this place?

This wasn't the plan
It wasn't how it was supposed to be
There was a man
A house, a car and security....

end of brainstorm

Mine are 2 and 5. I'm planning my midlife crisis for when the oldest starts kindergarten in the fall.
