To all of my dear friends at Literotica,
I would like to thank you for the poems, words of encouragement and letters of concern regarding the events in my life over the past week.
Overshadowing the minor inconveniences of lost power, no phone and no water (which they say will be restored today) due to Ivan the terrible, I was informed by my cousin's husband of the deaths of their daughter and the youngest of my cousin's sisters' at the hand's of my cousin's sister's husband, who then hanged himself.
The deaths were brutal and bloody, and the images they conjur
are difficult to ignore.
These acts were totally out of character for him, and what exactly precipitated these events and caused him to snap, are and probably will be forever unknown.
I was able to attend the memorial and funeral services on Saturday and Sunday, staying with friends of my cousin who generously opened their home to our extended group,at least 20 of us, allowing us the time to share our grief and support with each other....a blessing we will never be able to repay.
Amidst this tragedy, I witnessed amazing compassion, not the least of which originated from my cousin and her husband, in their reaching out to the sister of the man who had committed these acts......showing understanding of the pain she was also suffering in trying to cope with what her brother had done.
Since coming to Lit some months ago, I have experienced a rebirth in my spiritual path. This path is often painful, as it requires an exposure of my heart, an openess to the suffering of humanity and a willingness to share in that.
The benefits are the realization of the beauty of life and the immense joy through experiencing the fragility and fullness of the human heart.
As you all continue on your own journeys of self discovery and awareness, I would remind you of the lesson I carried home with me from this surreal weekend.
All human life is precious, and unpredictably finite. Do not be consumed by self doubt and fear. Always be willing and fearless enough to be the first to offer the open heart and hand of freindship. And never forget to let the people you love how much they mean to you.....you never know when it will be the last time you see them.
So to you all, my dear friends, I once again send my thanks and love.
