Halvid "Hal" Ansgar
eyed the computer screen before him with a look of boredom. He was about ten minutes in to reviewing the personnel file and at that moment he could think of a dozen times in his life where the odds of survival were bleak and how each of them would be better than sitting around looking at another file.

Hal was a corporate headhunter and spent most of his time at work in his office staring at his computer. His job was to find Musant Incorporated the best that there was, go to the prospective new employee and bring them back into Musant's fold. Actually getting to go out and meet with an employee had its perks. Depending on the intelligence that Hal had on them he could make the perfect experience to wine and dine an employee and get them prime to talk turkey. But before the fun part he had to study through hundreds of employment files and applications. It was the part that made him want to gouge his grey blue eyes out of their sockets.

He wanted to be doing just about anything else but he had this job for a reason. One he had trained hard and become one of the best at the business. At only twenty five he was the top corporate headhunter in the state and he worked tirelessly to recruit the best. The other main reason he needed the job was for the travel. Travel let him pursue other important work as well. His eyes looked up towards the clock and let out a sigh. 'Four more hours'

Hal decided he might as well get on with it. He started reviewing more information about Richard Miklon to figure out if he was the right man for the job.

Outside of Hal's office his boss Leo Turbiin moved over towards the secretary posted outside of Hal's office. Leo was going on fifty two with lean black skin and a sharp smile. In one hand was a coffee with a bit of whiskey to make the day more interesting, at least that's the excuse he gave himself.

"Is he in?" He asked the secretary. The girl was a cute blonde in a tight top and short pants. Hal had specifically hired her for her looks and the fact that she could be very distracting when she needed her to cover him.

"Yes he is." Hal heard through the door before Leo walked in.

"Hal, how the hell are you? Hows it going with Mr. Mikon?" As Hal greeted his boss with a casual smile. Even as he went over the basic rundown of their newest potential candidate Hal couldn't help but thinking about when the end of the day would roll around.

Later at lunch time Hal was walking back towards his office building. Lunch had been a quick visit at a local burger joint. It was one of his favorites in the city and a personal bad habits since he had come to America. He just couldn't turn down a great burger after eating fish for so many years.

In his left hand his fingers were wrapped around a black leather briefcase. The briefcase moved in tandem with methodical steps. Hal was walking down the sidewalk back to his work when suddenly he started getting a very bad feeling. Turning back to the left he saw something out of the corner of his eye. Immediately Hal felt a tingle run through his spine. Hal turned down to his left and immediately started working his way down and alley. His open right hand twitched reflexively as he heard another set of footsteps following behind him.
