Even though I'm the first to stand up and admit that my own hermaphrodite story is more fiction than fact, I actually wouldn't mind taking on a more realistic take on the genre. The problem is, even beyond the unpleasant aspects of non-function and disfigurement, is that most readers are probably expecting a more fantasy-oriented tale. It's also true that a lot of children who are born intersexed receive some kind of sex-assignment surgery not long after birth, depending on the kind of deformities they exhibit. Because this doesn't always conform to the person's eventual gender-identity, the main thrust of the inter-sexed movement has been to stop this practice.

If a genuinely erotic scenario can be envisaged for an intersexed person, I'd be glad to take a stab at it. But I really do think this is one case where, in terms of creating erotica, most are probably more comfortable with the fantasy than reality.
