I just watched a movie about Munchausen by Proxy.

This woman strangled her kids til they passed out, and then revived them, pretending they were suffering from a medical disorder and looking like a hero every time.

She killed one child and finally had the other removed from her care.

I didn't see the end so I don't know if she was arrested.
