Where is everyone?

Off ticking Public Comment boxes on stories?

Busy editing out abusive comments?

Busy adding abusive comments?

Or is the tension of waiting for the Christmas List finalists to be announced, too much?

Will's

That option. I've been reading and commenting. :D

I'm also busy writing Christmas cards. I'm off out later to watch the second performance of my daughters' school Christmas play. :)

Lunchtime now, cheese sarnie, here I come...

Lou :rose:

Edited to add: P.S. I've also been replying to feedback. I'm getting there, folks! :)

P.P.S. I've also been chatting to my best mate about his bowel movements.

P.P.S. Back to my cheese sarnie...

Thank's Lou

Make's it all worthwhile.

Me, I am typing up Planning Applications in Portuguese, driving me mad, all those damn accents.

English Lady, hubby will have fun getting that glitter off, it gets into all those little nooks and crannys. :D

Will's (How do I write Salacious Palace if Iniquity in Portuguese)

I've been working on another protest about closure of Post Offices.

Our town has lost two this year. Now the Post Office has announced proposals to close another 3 including the main Post Office. The queues at the existing Post Offices are usually 20 minutes long. What will the queue time be with 3 POs less?

I blame the govermint!

ooooh what an image Wills *goes to roll in more glitter*

Oggbashan..it's criminal isn't it? I'm lucky,i have a great little post office only a matter of minutes away from me..but it is tiny and it often has massive queues(esp in the morning)

How they can contemplate shutting more post offices is beyond me.....it really is.

You could blame that nice Alan Leigh, he's Chairman of the Post Office and Leeds United, they used to be a football team, just like we used have Post Offices.

Except that the govermint took £600 million p.a. income from Post Office Counters and left Alan Leigh to carry the can. They can blame him for their decisions.

If a pensioner wants to collect their pension in cash from a Post Office they can but the procedure is so long winded that it is designed to frustrate any but the most determined old bugger.

1) Will they at least be replaced with new Starbucks locations?

2) The answer to your question is: 1 hour and 45 minutes. This is without factoring in Postal Workers Union rules which apparently prohibit fast movement.

3) Please include in your protests a reference to the American phenomenon of violent, heavily armed postal workers who seethe until the day they take out their coworkers and supervisors and assorted innocent bystanders with a semi-automatic weapon. This happened so frequently over the last couple of decades that "going postal" became a familiar term for "going apeshit and killing a bunch of people."

4) Ask whether it's not worth the sacrifice of a Starbucks or two, to stop all those needness deaths!

Go Postal or going without caffiene...rather a Catch-22.

Ans 1: Even now we have more coffee shops than Post Offices.

Ans 2: UK postal workers who deliver are in a separate company from those on counters. Our local counter staff work hard and fast and are a mine of information. They recognise and acknowledge customers by name BEFORE seeing identity info.

The delivery staff are also excellent and apologise for delivering junk mail and brown envelopes from the government.

Ans 3: UK postal workers carry nothing more lethal than a pen.

Ans 4: We have more coffee shops than the demand can support. We already had less Post Offices than we need until the Government tried to stop us using them. We are also losing banks because "they" want internet banking with the customer staff located in India. One of my banks was in my town. They closed that branch so I had to visit the city. Now they are closing the city branch so I'd have to travel 20 miles to pay in a cheque. This is called "improving the service". No wonder I'm becoming an angry old fart!

Building excitement........

I spent almost an hour (whew) reviewing authors/story titles listed in the contest. Lots of competition.

I am perplexed as to how the award will be granted. Secretive backroom manipulation of ?????

And then I decided that just reading the quantity and quality of the offerings was an award in and of itself. So, over the next couple of weeks, I will try and review most of the stories.

I have read several already, and "they is good". No slouch authors here............

Nothing I can do about the Post Offices tho'! The USPS system made an excess $4B this year, no new postage increases until 2006. Oh boy...........

A much better option, especially if it's THE City.

Gauche (only just back from work)

I'm late here. Wills you posted at 3:30am PST so you know where I was.

Now it simply feels good to be awake and alive (even though at work).

I also always like ending up under Gauche

Perdita

Perdita, :D :D :D

Don't, I think I just wet myself.

PS Good to hear your cheer in your words.

Og,

The problem you cite about banks has spread at least as far as Canada.

Every year Canadian Banks have to close another 20% of their outlets because they are losing too much money keeping unnecessary outlets open.

Then at the end of the fiscal year learn that the year's profit's have barely reached 600%.

Canada Post is operating a Mail Clerk Breeding Station. So far, they have encountered encouraging results with the cross between employee and Three-Toed Sloth.

While the Sloth is not as cute as the Koala Bear, nor is it quite so prone to stay put, it does boast a more flexible diet, which it augments continuously.

Are you not looking forward to Her Majesty's Royal Email, Data Transfer Tax Stamp?

Well, I had a nap, then dinner and now off to watch "Roomservice" on Ch5. Then it's Jamie Oliver, Friends and Frasier. After that I'm going over a friend's erotic short-story. Then sleep.

:)

Like Perdita, I was still asleep when you posted. Since awakening, I have gotten my daughter up and taken her to school, ran to the grocery store for milk and a couple of other items, came home and took care of my sons (diapers, breakfast, lunch, refereeing fights), surfed the net for scrap booking ideas, and curled up on the couch with a blanket cause it's dang cold outside.
