A ghost from the past ( closed for Evayla)

Jon is a 18 year old who grew up working in his dads carpenter shop. With it being 1800 they fixed just about anything wooden from wagons and buggies to chair/tables. He was rather tall for his age (at the time) standing 5 feet and 9 inchs tall. He had a good half a head in high on most of the guys around. He was a sturdy but thin build, from years of labor. He has a solid muscle toned body that put him at 180 pounds. He kept his brown hair but short. Being a common man, he never did wear the silly wigs that the nobbles. He also has blue eyes that could shift from light to dark.

Today was a normal day of him making his rounds doing service calls fixing lose table legs and the odd jobs like that. One of his stops was a lord that had worked closely with the local shipping company and the navy ships of the area. In the lords house, nobles held there meetings as he worked on a end table. Jon was for the most part happy in the coastal city and serving the small towns near by. His family made what they needed for food and the house cost, but not much past it. This upbringing showed him the importance of the person as a partner.

With him being 18, he was at a point in his life to start his own family, while being the youngest of two sons. He knew his older brother would be first in line to take over the shop when there dad is going to retire, so that left Jon more free for his personal life to find his partner and continue the line.

In the the morning Jon did the on site work, and in the afternoon he picked up the stuff that needed to go into the wagon to be taken to the family shop. To day was just a normal day for him as he worked freely in the back while his dad worked the front counter with the customer. Jon has his sleeves pulled up and shirt undone in the neck area to give him the most comfort while working. As Jon carved he couldn't help but to notice the young woman about his age in her fine dress. He had just noticed her out of the corner of his eye with seeing a hint of her blushing. He wasn't sure if it was from the state of undress he was in, or if she was just not accustomed to being in a commoners shop. He could tell from all the frills and detail on the dress she was of money, but all classes come to his family shop at some point, unless they send there servants.

"Sit up straight." Olivia's mother admonished her daughter.

Olivia Cabot obliged, smoothing her skirts in the process. The dress had cost a pretty penny and quite some weeks of work. It was ridiculous to wear it on a long journey abroad.
A long, long, long journey abroad. The ship had taken its merry time, even if they were lucky to have made it at all. Why people wanted to trade in different countries truly was beyond her.

At 18 years she was ready to conquer the world on her own terms, but since her father did not have the pleasure of siring a son, she was stuck in his trade instead. His logic: if his auburn-haired daughter married a man, that man would eventually take over the business. She would have to know what this was all about.

She sighed softly. Marriage. An arranged one, no doubt. Her father probably had people lined up already to make his doll-faced daughter into a wife and eventually mother. Her big, brown eyes looked out of the carriage. The landscape had not changed much, although she thought to discern the silhouettes of a city in the making somewhere up ahead.

"Are we almost there?" She asked.

Her father looked up from his nap. How the man could nap in the ruckus of this cart -even if a private one- was beyond her.

"Hrm? Almost, dear, almost. Take a nap." And off he dozed.

She rolled her eyes. Maybe he had seen this a thousand times before, to her this land was new and exciting! All she could remember was Canada, even if she knew her parents originated from England. Their life was good. There was no shortage of trade where it came to lumber and it supplied their table with lovely foods, her cupboard with the finest of dresses.

Still, why did she have to wear this monstrosity when it was only a business trip?
Unless her father had one of those aforementioned suitors waiting...

Suddenly the nerves struck her.
Would he?

Some time later the carriage stopped. She was helped out and while she looked in awe at the city around her everything was being arranged in helping the little family Cabot to their first class hotel. Even if the air here smelled off somehow, she loved the new sights!

A couple of hours later she did not love the day quite as much. Her father was discussing the tedious details of some lumber deal she had no knowledge of and all but told her to 'amuse herself' while he took care of it. Had he given her some information beforehand, she could have been useful, but no, in the spirit of the age the man did not share anything with his daughter unless he absolutely had to.

With a bored sigh she walked around the carpentry. Her boredom quickly vanished as the young woman noticed the loving detail put in something as simple as the legs of a dining table. Her fingers moved over the spirals and beautifully cut wooden leaves as she moved closer to the corner where a young man was working on another useful piece of art.

Yet it was not the wood in his hands that drew her attention, but the half open shirt. The woman blinked.
Flushed.
Unable to take her eyes off that half bare chest.
He looked dashing, really, his muscles standing out as the young man worked for his coin. Olivia found herself unable to move on, just...following those strong hands as if they had a hypnotic power of their own.

The trader's daughter scraper her throat. "Ahem...pardon me for asking...but..." Oh dear, she had not thought of what she wanted to say before she started talking! A common mistake...

"How...is the business these days?" God, what a stupid queston! What would he think of her!

Jon was almost lost in his work, tho keeping a eye on the door for new customers coming into the shop. He had for the most part lost track of the older male that he presumed to be the young womans father. He didn't let his mind wonder why she would be with him in a shop like this dressed like that in the fine clothing.

Jon was taken a bit by shock when the woman was about a meter from him clearing her throat as she starts to talk to him. The breaf pause showing signs that she didn't clearly have a plan to talk to him.

Jon had just finished the last of the carving and now started to wipe the wood down letting his skilled hands do the talking on the feel of the cuts. Jon smiled looking at the woman as he says in a friendly tone but with wonder behind it " Its a good day, got lot of work to do, but not overly busy. Allot of small jobs like making a new leg and things like that." Jon was trying to look her over discreetly. As his mind raced trying to make heads or tails of this situation. Jon smiles and in a friendly tone "Do you see anything you like? Something you may want ordered?" Jon hopes this will give him more info of what is on her mind, with out being to blunt or foreword. If he is lucky she may want his services after all. Tho with the class difference he is thinking in line of work only, as he could never see him self dressing like the lords and noble class. Jon did admire her being so brave and coming to him, most lady's would have made the guys come to him. So this stranger peaks his interest as shes out of the norm for what he grew up with.

Oh goodness, he answers! A slight panick as if the man was some rare specimen not expected to talk at all. Olivia shot him a little smile, self consciously smoothing down her high waisted dress again, even if it did not need any care at all, the beautiful fabric smoothing out itself simply by being draped around her sturdy frame. She was no classic beauty like the slim grand dames in society, her silhouette resembling something of a curvy doll.

Did she like what she saw? Oh, definitely! Unfortunately he was probably talking about the woodwork. "Um, yes. Yes, I think this...is...very...nice wood?"

Great conversation! Come now, what got you so flustered? Just the sight of him? Don't be ridiculous! She chided herself inwardly.

"Well, I do not think my father would appreciate it if I went around ordering half the store while he tries to negotiate the new contracts, so...um...but..."

She did not want the conversation to be over yet! This was an actual real life person with a real life out here instead of that terribly protected bubble she moved around in!

"Is it...hard?"

MY GOD, what kind of a question is that!

Something about Olivia made him want to get to know her more. Maybe it was how she was acting shy that was drawing him in to her. Jon was sure admiring the sturdy top half that he could see under her layers of the dress. He was very interested in just how plump her hips and legs where, but what he could see from her arms. She was thick but not in a fatty way. Her arms look solid.

Her slow kinda bashful feeling of her response peaked his interest too. He wondered did her answer of "Um, yes. Yes, I think this...is...very...nice wood?" have some kind of hidden meaning. Could she be trying to protect her ladyness by adding in the "nice wood". He has delt with most of the people of all classes in town and few towns over. None he was really interested in, tho a few did catch his eye. Tho there personality didn't click so nothing could happen there. Jon thinks he could see a bit of blush in her cheeks, like she is getting flustered talking to him. Jon wondered could she be having the same kind of questioning feelings about him even tho they are strangers.

Her next line put a smile on his face. "Well, I do not think my father would appreciate it if I went around ordering half the store while he tries to negotiate the new contracts, so...um...but..." He could get a good vib that this is more then just a passing the time conversation even tho Jon him self is still a virgin. He is a good man so hasn't even kiss a woman before. Tho with Olivia, if she kept up charming him. He might have to brake that good man status for her. If she would have him. He wasn't going to rush things tho. He plans to keep that hope in the back of his mind as they learn more about each other....

His face lit up with joy as she ask"Is it...hard?". This woman was awaking his member in his pants. It was getting hard. He knew he had a good size nice and thick about 3 full fingers wide and over a hand long..... He kept the conversation about the wood tho. Jon happily looked into her eyes as he talked to her.

Jon said " yes it is very hard, takes allot of skill to get the right lines, to use the tool at the right angle to get the right depth. To use the right amount of pressure you see to make a bend in the carving you gotta go a little bit at a time to keep the lines you want." Jon moves to her side and bit forwardly but innocently asks " May I have your hand?" his hand starting to slowly extend to her nearest hand. That would be her left hand. He can feel his heart racing in excitement being so close. His mind racing as his eyes dart over her for any clue if she will say yes or no. He wants to take her hand and run her fingers threw the lines feeling the soft smooth area he sanded before and the rougher area he was just working on.

Oh gosh, he was clearly being kind to her while she stumbled her way through the awkwardness of it all. Any well thinking man of her class would at least have raised an eyebrow or have turned away already.
Yet here he was, conveniencing her, even stimulating her to keep the conversation going. It was s sweet, so considerate! Her blush intensified as his rough hand took a hold of hers. The man felt alive by his touch alone. Such stories those calluses would be able to tell.

Olivia let him guide her hand over the wood. He really was doing a good job at smoothing the surface. It almost felt varnished already. "That is amazing." She smiled, loosing a little of her nerves. He did not seem to mind her presence. She had not overstepped any boundaries. "You must be very proud of your work. I mean...I...oh dear, that sounds like bragging, but I know father would not deal with just any woodworker. He wants the best for our products."

Our.
Yes, she was part of that trade, no matter how her father was planning to marry her off. She was going to make sure she knew what her father tried to delegate to his working people: to connect with the ones using their lumber, to find out the needs of the market and plan for it. No doubt that would be useful. No doubt she could be efficient.

Right now however, she felt like a blundering, stumbling little school girl in the presence of this overwhelmingly *real* person.
This very attractive young man.

"Do you...work for the big market? Or is there a lot of private work?" Maybe she could convince her father she needed a new cabinet! It would be no hardship to see this man again. Maybe she...

Olivia bit her lip. No, her home was in another country. Of course she could not get him to take measurements himself. Of course she would not see him again.

A whistful sigh escaped her as her brown eyes moved over his face, her lips curling in a dazzling smile. "Can you show me more of your work?" She was feeling bolder now!

Standing close but not so close to have the body's touch. Jon if he takes in a deep breath could smell Olivia and tries to do so discretely. The more closer they where, something in him buzzed full of energy. Almost intoxicating with out any of the bad side effects. Jon knows he shouldn't want to be close to a lady of class like Olivia.

Jon hearing Olivia being so impressed with his skill seams to make him want to float away into dream land. Jon starts to wonder if this woman is a day dream as she is so unlike anyone he met. Each second they spend together, the more of needing to be with her seams to seep into him.... Out of the corner of his eye, he catches her blushing more. That makes him blush a bit outright too... (its out of place for him as he grew up all about the work, make friends only to draw in the customers and make them feel important, but not be to friendly to want to do anything outside of the shop as there is so much work to be done) This woman is getting to his core. Jon also is amazed at how she seams to enjoy his callused hands but also his light/soft touch on her hands.

Jon smiles glancing over at her as she says "You must be very proud of your work. I mean...I...oh dear, that sounds like bragging, but I know father would not deal with just any woodworker. He wants the best for our products." Jon responds "I know allot and almost as good as my dad, but he has decades of working where I only have 11 years. He is proud of me as I can uphold the high standard of work tho."

When she asks "Do you...work for the big market? Or is there a lot of private work?" Jon smiles and says we work for the people of the town and towns near by, but also for the lord of the lands. Be it one table or 100 tables." Jon starts to bit his lower lips and sucking a bit in this time, as she is making him feel nervous in a very good way tho. He notices a little tug on her lower lip, and he wonders could she be as excited about him rather then the work? Jon hears the sigh and was about to wonder about it, but as she look turned her head to look at him. His mind locked fully on to her face. He almost lost in studying her face, tho he just caught her request to see more work.

He leads her to a book shelf that needs to be stained so it can be sent out tomorrow for delivery. He puts his hand on top of hers and lightly pulls it to the finished carving on the bookshelf. Jon says " We do more then tables. Can make anything you would use in a house. Have even did a buggy job."

Jon is so confused, he shouldn't like her and she shouldn't like him. Yet here he is feeling like he will float away being so close. The touching seams to make him more alive. Jon wonders if this is what drew his dad to his mom. Saddle she passed with him being a young kid, and his dad don't talk about her.

Jon dose plan to bring her up, and ask his dad tonight about any advice about what he is feeling.

The colour in her face remained as the young woman enjoyed this bit of personal attention tremendously. In all honesty she should be appalled at his nerve to just take her hand. It was not proper! Yet...the adventurous side in her cheered. She was making contact! And enjoying it! Her father was dead wrong about the working class being rubble. This young man certainly seemed decent enough!
And he was so kind...so careful. A part of her already regretted her family would only be staying for a month or two.

"This is exquisite!" She beamed another smile, not wanting to loose that warm touch just yet. Olivia shot a look at the door her father had disappeared through. If he came out right now this woodworker would be in dire trouble.

Again she bit her lip and with an apologetic smile she withdrew her hand. She could not run the risk of being his demise. "You are most kind to show me, sir...?" Clearly she was asking for his name.

Jon was amazed that she let it go on for so long. He knew she must have some interests in him other then his work. That made him want to jump up and down with excitement, but he used all his skill and upbringing to try to keep a clam demeanor. Tho clearly on his face he was in heaven.

As Jon showed the bookshelf. Each passing second gave him the stronger desire to talk to his dad about moving out, but not of the house or county. But out of the country to the new world... Jon first needs to breach the subject with his dad, and maybe his dad could use his son as a bargaining chip for the deal, to sweeten the pot so to speak for the wealthy man. The seconds seamed like minutes and the minutes of showing the bookshelf seamed like hours of bliss.

At the withdrawing of her hand from his. One part of him wanted to speak out, but he knew why she did. If they where caught in such a scandalis state. It could wreck the family's good name and her good name...The look she cast to the door where there fathers talked business told him everything he needed to know... It was only out of fear of there dad's she broke the contact. Jon could see very soft hint of her biting her lip with the true apologetic smile as there skin lost contact... Her statement that turned into a question pulled him into more of a normal everyday stance. Even tho he was sure she could see the wonder on his face as he looks at her.

When she said/ask "You are most kind to show me, sir...?" He was taken back by the sir.... He felt so foolish being wrapped up in each other and they don't even know each others name. This made him blush with a silly smile on his face. He says " I am Jonathan Grodenson..... But my friends call me Jon." He was almost not going to tell her his nickname, but he wanted her to know she was special to him. In secret if they got to see each other privately again like this. Maybe she would want to be so bold to call him Jon. He added in to make sure she knew she was welcome to call him Jon "If you would be pleased to do so that is." He shot her a playful and daring smile.... He loved the look of how she blushed with him, and how she seamed to fully enjoy just being with him as near strangers.

There was no greed in him. He let go when she requested it. Again her eyes moved over the unexpected company. Olivia could not help but dream a little. What if she was free to choose her own suitor? Would she ask him? The man looked like he had just walked out of a romance novelle like the ones she had read on the way here. With his rough looks and kind demeanour he was just about everything she hoped for, even if he clearly did not walk her circles.

A minor incumbrance as far as she was concerned.
Her father might think differently though.
A wistful sigh escaped her.

"A pleasure to meet your acquaintance." She curtsied, not entirely bold enough to venture calling him ' Jon' . "I am Olivia. Cabot."She hastened to add her last name, even if undoubtedly he had guessed. "Olivia Cabot. We...well, you already know my father is here on business. But...perhaps there is something suitable to be carried home which could be fashioned within a month or two?"

A little longing look. It was the best she could do to have a good excuse to meet up again! She did not even know what kind of item to ask for!

Jon is very please to see hints of a dreamy state on her face, even tho it's well masked. For a half a second or so it gets to break free. Jon could not place the sigh but he liked the tone what ever it ment.

Jon was sure his face was glowing with joy. as she said "Olivia Cabot. We...well, you already know my father is here on business. But...perhaps there is something suitable to be carried home which could be fashioned within a month or two?" Jon was sure he could make a item or two in that time. Jo smiled and said "I will make anything you dream come true." He was meaning any thing she would want him to make, but part of him hoped she would want more then just a item. If only he could work a deal to be by her side longer then this trip. He would move heaven and earth for it.....

Anything she could dream of? Oh, if he only knew the thoughts going through her mind right now. Nobody had ever prepared her for meeting such a charming, handsome youth just out here in the wild! Such things only happened in stories, right?

The flush returned full force to her face as her eyes sparkled enthusiastically. "Oh, oh! I know! I have always wanted one of those double boxes...do you know the kind with two layers? The hidden layer? Oh, I would love to have my own secret box...to ...keep letters...and...memories."

Maybe he would write.
Could he?
All she knew was that her father considered the lower class as dumb as a cow, but personally she found cows the be remarkably smart creatures. No doubt he could read and write as he was a man who worked with numbers and orders all day long!

But...how would she explain an exchange of long distance letters to her parents? Good god, this society was so tedious from time to time! She just wanted to have a little time to dream about this amazing man standing so wonderfully close to her instead of having to worry all the time! She could feel his body heat radiating through her clothes. It made her want to stand closer.

Another look at the door.
Another sigh.
She had to behave.

Jon gets a big smile at her idea. She is such a rebel. Jon takes a joyful exhale and says "If you can think it, we can draw it. I will make it for you." He started to bite his lower lip with full of wonder on how she would react to "we" Jon adds in half a second later "I would be glad to make something for you to hide your prized memory's in."

Jon had done something like that before, but it was just a job then. He only cared enough to make it with all his talent then sent it off into the world not think of it again. Jon was sure they both would be thinking of each other with this box. Jon smiled and added "Maybe a bench with a hidden area under the seat? So its useful in the every day use." Jon shoots a playful smile to her.

Olivia smiled as she looked up at the taller man. "I would very much enjoy that." Working together? Having an excuse to come here more often during her two month stay? Definitely a plus!

"I'm just not certain if my father would agree to taking home a complete piece of furniture." She frowned. "Hence the idea of a treasure chest. That...could just be my keepsake."

Another sigh. "How very inconvenient that someone with such good ideas lives so far away! If there was more time, I am sure I could convince him of the need."

Jon smiles and asks " May I be so foreword then and call on you tomorrow after you eat? To talk about some drawings. If your father ask about the cost. Can tell him its a gift to show what kind of craftsmen my family is." Jons heart beats with excitement as he nibbles on his lower lip waiting to hear her response. Tho he is expecting a yes, but cant be positive with the social classes.

Olivia's words ringing in the back of his mind like church bells as he thinks about what she said
"How very inconvenient that someone with such good ideas lives so far away! If there was more time, I am sure I could convince him of the need.".... Each time it bounces around in his head, the more he wants to have the talk with his dad. No the need to have the talk...Only thing stopping him from turning around and proposing his idea now is this lovely lady's charm and pull. He is but a moth drawn to her flame, and he knows he could get burnt. Every heartbeat with her makes it worth it. The idea of getting to see her more the next day if she accepts would put him over the moon. .

Olivia flushed with pleasure. "That is a grand gesture, master woodworker. It speaks well of you in many ways. I would love to be a part of such a gift. No doubt something can be arranged with my chaperonne..."

Now that made her cringe a little. The young woman rather liked being able to talk to this man without having someone looming over her shoulder. It was a shame there was no way she would be able to meet with him without.

"I will..."

Right that moment the door opened and John Cabot came walking out, looking rather pleased. "Ah, Olivia. Time to go, dear."

"Father!" The girl beamed a smile at him. "Will you come look at this first?"

The man frowned, noticing the young man standing almost indecently close to his daughter.

Jon finds it charming how the little things makes her blush and gives him grate deal of hope to be so bold. Jon can see she is one of a kind and is sure he would never find a woman like her. Little dose she know just how moving this meeting was for him, and what a impact of his life she has had and will have. Jon dose not know what he will have to do, to get more time with her. Jon has his mind made up that he will do anything even again to be a endangered servant for any amount of time her father sees fit. Long as he can keep seeing her and sneaking a glance from her... Hearing how she will welcome such a gift almost makes him want to jump up and down while cheering as he is overfilled with joy. He don't know what love is, but would bet anything something like this has to be love... Jon is 18, and can sign the papers to make the contract binding. Tho his dad could take it to the lord of the land and dispute it causing problems. Jon is sure his dad will want him to fallow his heart and dreams tho. His dad can even use it as a thing to bargen with for the contract.
When she mentions her chaperon he sighs, but knows it is to be expected. Jon is lucky to be getting to talk so freely one on one like this as is. Something like this may never come again. Tho Jon is sure she will want it to as much as he want's it to. Like his dad says " if there is a will, there is a way. Just gotta put the time and energy into it." Jon grins as he hears his father's voice saying that countless times a week. Jon is dead set he will make it happen to have him join there family on board the ship to where ever they are going next, or where ever her dad sends him to there home.

Jon face lights up as his smile must be so big as she said the two magical words"I will..." He is so joyful a blind man could see it. The door opening made him jump a bit out of shock.

John Cabot said "Ah, Olivia. Time to go, dear." Jon was about to speak and ask to stop by the house, but he found Olivia speaking and stopping him."Father!".. "Will you come look at this first?" Jon's eyes watched John's face go from please to a frown. Jon could feel her father's eyes on them and Jon remembered just how close they where. Jon quickly taken step back not wanting to anger the man.

Jon said "Sir, I was just showing your daughter here some of my work. May I have your blessing to call on her tomorrow? I wish to make a little keep sake of her trip to England. If you would allow my this grate honer to give her such a thing as a gift."

The bold but respectful question and request had taken Gorden by surprise but he quickly backed his son's request by saying " My son is young, but he is very skilled. We would be glad to do this gift for you." Gorden then looked at Jon full of wonder as such a thing would never be in his norm. Gorden had also seen how close they had been standing. Gorden had a feeling this lady had some kind of charm that his son is eager to put his energy into such a project.

A deep frown indeed on John's face. This was highly unusual! But...looking at the face of his daughter it was hard to deny her. "A skilled worker, hm? Let's see then." He walked up to the pair of youngsters, subtly pulling Olivia next to him, away from the youth.

The man might be protective, he was no fool. The look in his eyes changed to satisfaction at the fine details of the woodwork. "So, this is all your work?" He eyed Jon, then looked at Gordon. "Your son, you say? Interesting."

Olivia all but held her breath.

Jon noticed her dad moving her away and out of sign of respect he taken few steps back to give them more room. Jon watched knowing he was good, only his father was better in carving then what Jon is. You would have to travel about 6 towns over to find someone with skill that matched his.

Jon nodded and said "Yes sir it is. It is just missing some staining otherwise it is all set to be sent out. I can also have carvings above the wood too." Gorden nodded to John backing what Jon said. Both Jon and Gorden can see a hint of interest in John's face.

Jon was full of jitter. He knew his skill was enough to speak for it self, so Jon was almost positive John would be ok with it. Jon hoped John would even just to hummer his daughter.

"Impressive." John nodded. "Most impressive. So...a gift, you say?" He turned to his daughter.

Olivia beamed. "I think you should accept, papa. It is only right that the lumber supplier would have a beautiful display of what is being done with it."

"True that." The man mused, running a thumb past his lips as he watched Jon carefully. "Very well then. I am interested. Make it worth my time."

Jon nodded trying to hold back just how much this meant to him. Jon was sacred if her dad got funny idea's by it meaning so much to both of them that he would say no just to stop what ever this was that was sparking with the two kids.

Jon knew if her dad just gave him a chance and looked at his skill as a item like lumber or a ship, something he can count as a asset for the company. Having Jon around would save him money in the long hand. Why pay out of pocket when you got someone in the company that can make or fix a desk, table or anything like this. Jon also knows he can fix most parts of a wagon or buggy, so its just selling Jon himself that Jon will need to do to her dad. His dad would be a easy sell, and Jon is sure his dad wont like it but wont stand in the way.

With the scrutinizing eyes on Jon from John as he pondered the pitch, The two kids seamed to have sold John on the idea. Jon hopes her father sees it as a no lose situation. A free gift and to make his daughter happy. Finally the moment they where waiting for happened where John cast his vote the only real vote that mattered. Well socially mattered anyways. In Jon's eyes it was not the vote of John that mattered, it was the vote of his daughter on if she would have him. Jon had to use every bit of self control to act normal when he heard that he got the blessing to make it worth his time.

Jon quickly asked her "My lady, may I make plans to call on you about 1:30, will that give you all the time you need for lunch my lady?" Jon felt all light headed calling her "my lady" normally its just how he would address a lady of upper class rather then Mrs or Ms and her last name, but with her it had a bit of a secret double meaning. Jon watched any hints on her face for a reaction as he called her that, but in the back of his mind he knew not to see anything. As she may try and hide it out of fear of her father stopping this from happening. Jon knew she would have him and she seamed to enjoy his touch.

The kids knew the truth, as the parents didn't fully know what it was. Jon knows his dad Gorden must have a idea and is somewhat onboard with it. Maybe just enough to seal the contract but this point in time his dad was on his side.

John Cabot looked upon the enthusiastic face of his daughter. It looked like she was finally developing some passion for his trade. This pleased him. It was good to have her involved in more than just site seeing. Maybe he could keep a hold of the company through her once she married and he got too old to be effective in the field.

Yes, he saw options.
He did not see the other sparks flying.
A good thing too.

"Young man, your meetings will be planned through me, but as it is I think we can make that time work." He addressed Jon sternly. "I will inform Mrs. Minnie to accompany you, Olivia."

Of course, the chaperonne.
There was no escaping that one.

"Yes, papa." She answered politely, shooting a daring glance at the handsome woodworker.

John said in a stern voice "Young man, your meetings will be planned through me, but as it is I think we can make that time work." Jon nodded and bowed a bit saying " Yes my lord" Jon was not sure if he had a tittle or not, but figured best to address him as if he has one to play it safe

As Jon was bowing he had a smile on his face and shot a peak out of the side of his eye at Olivia as she was finding out about the chaperone. Jon held the bow and the smile for a second then as he started to right him self, he tried his best to hide the smile and put on a "workman's face"

Jon said "My lord. If we can do it early that will give me more time to work on the gift, but I would be glad to meet anytime that you see fit." Jon hopes this will help smooth over any ruffled feathers that he may have about Jon trying to set a time with Olivia. Jon acted like he was looking at mr Cabot, but Jon was keeping Olivia in the corner of his eye. He could see she was looking at him and that made him very happy. Tho Jon had to try and hide his happiness from her father.

Mister Cabot seemed pleased at Jon's proper demeanour. He nodded at Gorden. "That's a good lad you got there. A good lad indeed. Have him work on that present. If I am satisfied, more orders might follow."

Olivia tried to keep herself from applauding. This was all sounding too good to be true! Alright, she'd have a chaperonne to deal with, but...she could do that!

She stole a look at Jon, hoping he would see her smile.
Hoping he'd understand it was not just the woodwork she admired.

"Tomorrow then, after lunch." Mister Cabot confirmed. "Have a good day."

"Until we meet again." Olivia curtsied, all but fluttering her eyelashes, before following her father out.

Jon couldn't wait till tomorrow, but before that. He knew his father would be wanting to know what got into him... Jon watches Olivia fallow her father out the shop. Once the door is closed for about two seconds. Jon drops the act and the pure joy fills his face. Before his dad gets to say a word Jon says "She is the most wonderful woman I have ever met, I would do anything to get to be by her side. To have that soft hand of hers in mine. I never felt like I was in heaven till I was with her! Dad, tomorrow I want your blessing to offer my self as there servant for a few years to pay off my cost of moving to the land they are from. I am of age, I can do it on my own with out your blessing, and that could make it harder for me. I want your blessing tho dad."

Gorden knows his son is young, and has allot of learning to do about life. Gorden knows Jon is a mellow head and isn't all wrapped up on money and tittle's. They both are happy being a common man. They may be on the low end of second class, but they make what they need for money. He has never seen Jon be so bold like that before, as he was always proper. Gorden did not ask what had happened while they where in the other room, as he knew his son wouldn't risk a job. Let alone a line of jobs. He could only sigh looking at his son......What could Gorden do. Its not like he could really try and stop his son from being happy, and clearly this girl seams to make Jon happy... Gorden sighs again and says "Ok" Then Gorden moves back into the other room leaving Jon alone in the shop floor.
