OOC:
Mandy had been on the online dating site for the last eight weeks and in all that time she had really only spoken to one person. He had placed an ad in the looking for section of site the day after she had joined. Mandy had sent him a response that very night and they had chatted ever since.

In the last eight weeks she had learned quite a bit about him, he was 21yrs old, 5’10, 160 pounds, had Brown hair and dark blue eyes (the thought of which melted her heart). She knew he enjoyed reading, writing, studying, and hanging out with his friends when he could find the time. She also knew that he was studying for a double major, statistics/psychology and that he listened mostly to rock and country music.

Mandy had told him a lot about herself as well, he knew she had long brown curly hair, hazel eyes, was 5’8 and 120 pounds, oh and that she was 23yrs old and political science graduate. He knew that she liked to read, write, dance, and do things out doors. He also knew that she listened to everything and anything.

After eight weeks of chatting online and sending messages they decided it was time to meet in person, see if they were as physically attracted to each other as they were mentally.

*************

Mandy slid her red tank top over her head, pulling it over her small but firm breast she fretted over what she was wearing yet again, but time was short so she stuck to her latest choice. Her black silk skirt hung just above her knees it was cut on a right angle, and fit her perfectly. Sitting on her bed she slid her foot into her black stiletto clasping the strap around her slim ankle.

Standing in front of the mirror she took a deep breath it was now or never.

Stepping back over to her computer she checked to make sure she had all of the details right, they were to meet at the Bistro for 8pm sharp and then after drinks who knew.

**********
Mandy walked into the Bistro at exactly 7:55pm heads turned as she walked through the door. She was used to it people, or men tended to notice he, not that she was trying to hide it was just heard not to be noticed when you were tall and slima and alone at the present moment.

Taking a seat at the bar, to watch the door, Mandy ordered a red velvet. Unsure if he would recognize her but hoping that he would, that is why she had left her brown curls loose and hanging down her back.

Her hazel eyes sparkled in the dim lighting and she sat intently and watched the door for him to enter.

It had never occured to her that he might have come early.............

Mark Adkins was torn betwin desires. His endless desire to do well at his schooling, to overcome his pore roots, to make something of himself, wared with a newly awakened craving for companionship. They were a pair of desires that had never combined well in his life. He had had a love once, and she couldn't understand his need to betterhimself, his need for something more than he had, she had finally left him. Owing to this fact, he thought something was wrong with him, that he was strange for thinking his schooling was important. He turned inward and divoted more and more of his time to his studies. He was a fun person to hang around with, he could make people laugh, or most of the time he could. And he did well when he was with a group of guys playing cards, or hanging out, or listening to music, but he found himself not willing to try the dating scene. He told himself it was because he was too busy, that he had too much to do. a friend of his had arranged a one night's stand with a friend of his once for him, but he really didn't care for that either, it just felt so shallow. He could honestly not say what it was that he really wanted. One day desperate for something he put an add on a websight, and she had responded. Amanda, who was tall and beautiful, or so her pictures the couple she had sent him had suggested. But more over she was sweet, and very interesting to talk to. She talked with him for what seemed like a long time on the internet, before he got up the gumption to ask her on a real date. And it was that he was now getting ready for. The usual, shower, shave, brush his hair, brush his teeth, get dressed etc. He settled on a blue striped polo shirt his dark blue jeans, and his boots. Many people poked fun at his cowboy boots, but he had gotten a lot of compliments on them, and enjoyed wearing them so he did. He Then hopped in his car and drove to the meeting place. Opening the door he moved towards the bar, figuring to get a drink, and then look to see if Mandy had arrived yet. He accepted a coke from the bartender and headed for a booth. The time was 7:45, he believed in being punctual, ok he believed in being early, but wasn't the old saying if you're on time you're late? Ok that only applied to the military, but years of summer camp with the American legion Veterins, one picked up some habbits. At precisely 7:55, yes he checked his watch everytime someone walked in the door, a woman walked in. She was tall and slim, and beautiful. ' could that be her? ' he asked himself, 'Maybe' He saw her looking around and that tipped him off. Figuring he should get another drink anyway, he moved up to the bar beside her and ordered another coke. He then turned and extended a hand, "Amanda?" he asked offering a somewhat hopeful smile, hoping he wasn't just making an ass of himself. "I'm Mark." he said as he waited to see if this was the right woman or not.

Amanda watched as the guy in the polo shirt approached her, with ehr heart skipping about every second beat she waited hopeing he was the one she had been waiting for. She heard him order a coke and she smiled to herself.

"Amanda?"

She turned smiling at the him. "I'm Mark"

Taking a sip of her drink Amanda placed it back on the counter. Looking at those beautiful almost saphire blue eyes she smiled, they were as nice if not nicer then she had thought that they would be.

"Nice to meet you Mark, I see you made it here before me."

That gave him points, Amanda liked a man who took care ot be ontime as well as look good. He might have jeans, cowboy boots and a polo shirt on but he was looking good.

"So shall we get a table or would you prefer to stay here at the bar?"

Amanda's hazel eyes twinkled with something, whether it be humor or, attraction she was not quite sure but what ever it was she was glad that he had responded to her online. Especially now that she could feel the chemestry between them.

Mark shook her hand and smiled, "My table is over there, its got a nice view of the river outside." he said. He stepped back to allow her to get down off her bar stool, "Hope I'm not under dressed, I was going to go the whole shirt and tie approach, and was like, you know maybe not. I'm not going to my wedding, just a first date." he chuckled.
Leading her to the table he sat down and chuckled awkwardly. "So, how are you today?" He kicked himself mentally, ' you idiot is that all you can think to say? ' He kept the smile on his face ' sure, what else wat there to say ' In the midst of this inner battle he waited for the answer to his first question. He admired her, she was as beautiful as he had hoped, he especially loved the flowing hair, and her hazel eyes, they were almost the shade of his brothers, but he thought his brother had a bit more brown in his eyes.

All these thoughts went through his head in the breath it would probably take her to answer, "I mean, you were good earlier," he said laughing, for they had chatted earlier that day, "But how are you now?"

Amanda smiled at his laugh, it was sweet the kind of laugh that everyone enjoyed, rich and full hearted.

Walking towards the table following Mark, Amanda noticed everything about him, his clothes, his walk, everything.

"Your dressed just fine, perfect for a first date especially someone you feel comfortable with."

She sat in the chair he offered.

"I am still doing good, wonderful one might say now that I have met you and the jitters are gone. I was little nervous, but I see i had no reason to be."

Amanda looked warmly into his eyes, "so what shall we have, individual meals or would you like to share?"

He shrugged, "That's up to you, I don't mind either way, but I was sorta to nervous to eat earlier so I'm kind of hungry." He blushed just a bit, "So maybe we'd better order our own dishes. He smiled at her, "You look so nice." he blirted abruptly and laughed, "Sorry thatwas random, but its true." he said. "You are more beautiful than I could have imagined." And actually blushed at his boldness at giving her awkward compliments.
