A Disturbing Story...

I am currently writing a story that I will submit to this site (plan to, anyway) in the classification of Erotic Horror. Naturally I was going to submit it for the contest, but I never seem to be able to write short stories, always gotta make 'em novels (or novellas, in this case).

Essentially the story takes place in Darkworld, an alternate, nightmarish universe parallel to our own where what is normal is abnormal to us. Don't let the premise fool you; it is still erotica.

So, this leads me to my question. What exactly is not allowed at this site? Since it is part horror, there is a lot of controversial stuff in it. I mean as in gruesome images, swearing (beyond erotic dialogue that is), and racial slurs (from the antagonists of course). Nothing illegal mind you, just the horror aspect is strong, so I just wanted to get clarification on this.

To my knowledge, the only content restrictions here are descriptions of sex acts involving anyone under 18, bestiality, and snuff. I might have missed one, but that's the general idea. I just read a Halloween entry about cannibalism, so evidently my description of snuff differs from the site. In the end, you can find a volunteer editor here who will be able to guide you through potential problems. I always recommend it, even to people who have written stories for sites before. If nothing else, an extra pair of eyes (especially ones that know the idiosyncracies of the readers and Lit staff) can help you avoid potential trouble spots.

There are monsters, but no sex involvement or normal animals.

The only "questionable content" involving a minor is when the main character remembers a car accident when she was 14. Besides being banged up from the wreck, there is nothing else that involves anyone under 18.

Snuff is mentioned, but not portrayed. (It happens in the Darkworld, but not during the story.)

Hehe... the more I write, the less of erotica this sounds.

I'd say it sounds like you're well within the bounds of what Lit allows.

The main characters in both stories die - badly. A few elements of both push the edges here and there. This might give you an idea of where the boundaries lie.

Sex with monsters is allowed. Sex with animals is not. So you can do the werewolf but not the german shepherd.

As for the 14 year old remembering--sex is acceptable if it's vague. Like, "She's lost her virginity at fourteen." If you describe what exactly that first time was like, however, her remembering how she was touched, penetrated, etc., at 14 THEN they will reject the story.

Anything else she remembers from being 14, car wrecks, her first kiss, summer camp, is all good.

Yeah, but this story is horror first and foremost. I know that Lit will probably accept it, but I put a hell of a lot of... lets say, bad things in there. You guys did notice I put "racial slurs" as one thing right? The "Darkworld" is a hellish place... nothing is normal.

I'll guess you'll have to wait and see exactly what I'm talking about.
