Kelly Crosby knew something was wrong as soon as she walked into their house. At first, she thought maybe they had been robbed. But the door had been locked and the alarm was set. She gingerly made her way to the master bedroom. Only Mitch's things were in disarray in the bedroom. All of his drawers were open, some of his clothes were strewn on the bed. The luggage was gone.
Propped on the pillow was an envelope addressed to Kelly, my Love. She opened the envelope and found herself sinking into a rabbit hole she didn't even know existed. In the note Mitch explained that he had been laundering money for the mob, and that he had stolen from them. He had thought he could put the money back before it was discovered, but he was wrong. He was on the run. He had cleaned out their accounts and he was sorry.
Kelly sat on the side of the bed in disbelief. The mob? Her Mitch? It seemed impossible. He didn't even speed or cheat on his taxes.
The petite dark haired beauty was still sitting on the bed when she looked up and saw three men with guns.
"He isn't here." She whispered, clutching the letter in her hand.
