First off, do you ever get that feeling that time's a wasting and that you should be doing something better with your life? I don't mean just jobwise. ( hey I can't have a mid-life crisis yet, I'm not even 25!) And you're just bursting with energy? And the 40 to 60hr aweek job, isn't satisfying as it once was? What would you do?

I don't know. I just don't feel as if I am cut out to do this...any advice would be appreciated.

So, I figure Lucky Duck, to be one of my best stories... I would like some feedback, on what direction it would take, and how you (the reader) like the story.

Here is the link: Lucky Duck

Thank you all for your consideration!

I liked it. I liked it a lot. And I want to see how both of them react to the cry for help. Is he really a monster? He might just well be . . .

A good set up for the next story. Makes me want to look for the next installment.

Hey ms.read,

You may be too young for a mid-life crisis, but if you are approaching 25, you are entitled to a quarter-life crisis!

Seriously, I just turned 50, but I remember being 25 and making a major life decision about that time. I decided that I would go NUTS if I spent the next 40 years in a cubicle working for "the man." And I further decided that I would step off the treadmill and go to work for myself.

I did. There were some lean years, to be sure, but it worked out in the long run. I now make more than I would be if I had stayed on the treadmill. And I am much happier. And I never looked back.

Writing, or editing, or whatever else your heart moves you to do, is never a bad idea. If you are providing value, somebody will be happy to patronize you and compensate you.

There is an old saying: "Don't work for money. Do what you love, and the money will come." I can't prove that it is always true, but it was true for me, and for everyone else that I know who has tried it.

Good luck! Believe in yourself, and you can't fail......Carney

I did everything I wanted to do as a kid: I was in combat, I traveled to many countries, I was an architect who built a few thousand homes, I was a civil engineer, I shrunk heads, and I was a state investigator.

If I had it to do over again I'd be an english teacher or a country MD.

I thought it was very hot and it drew me in, but I'm confused about the non-human aspect. I expect all will be revealed though :)

What he said. :rose:

Wot she said... but it is easier said than done :rose:

Cutting backstop ties (like a regular income) requires exercising a discipline in your life to keep you one step ahead of the next bank statement. I've managed for more years than you can remember, at times it is frightening. Knowing you don't have to catch the 7.30 commute is good, but it's not enough to guarantee economic survival.

Solutions:
- kill a rich partner
- rob a bank (and don't get caught)
- sell your body but make sure you charge enough to keep you in money after the age of 35
- find a niche your talents can exploit and use every means at your disposal to sell your unique talent.

Personally, I'd be happy to cough up the bucks for the body, but I reckon you're better off going with the latter.

I haven't read the story, I haven't read anything on Lit for more than 1 year, I haven't read a book in three months. Call me fickle, but it's June.

Superdumbass moment of June "Went for my fourth installment of my driver's permit. Forgot the fucking paperwork at home. Must reschedule Asap......"

Neon, you wouldn't read Lucky Duck, just for me? Pretty please?? I'd give you five smooches:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:anywhere you want:cool:

thank you for the encouragement with the story, to all of you. I'm hoping to get some inspiration. Originally this story was inspired by a certain thunderstorm this past spring. Beautiful.

Ok... I read it.

I like the style, but it's really difficult to pull off convincingly. I'll send you a PM with comments later today. Promise.
