A Convent that Allows/encourage sex

Elevator Pitch: new nun joins convent finds out the sisters are having sex with each other and the mother superior explains she’s well aware and she even encourages it provided they follow some rules

Longer: Mother Superior explains that she knew the temptation would be there so she created some rules so making love could be done in a some what holy manner.

She then goes through the rules: things like “you may only have sex with other brides of Christ, you must complete all your duties for the day, you must pray to Jesus before After and preferably during, and anything you do with your sisters must be consensual.”

There could be other practices too. Maybe they have to talk to God and praise all the things they love about the sister they’ll be making love to, they have to do it during prescribed times, etc

Big thing I’m wondering about is when the best time to set it would be. Modern day could work but it might be interesting to set it during olden times. New sister was sent there to protect her chastity so she doesn’t want to leave when her family calls her back for a wedding or all her practice lets her dominate her husband in the bedroom and she winds up making a version of the convent in her own manor.

I'd set it up in the 1690's in New England. This is the time period of the Salem Witch Trials and Mother Superior is fed up with men using 'witches' as scapegots for their impurity. So she opens the convents up to these 'pagan' ladies and convinces the men, that a true witch wouldn't be able to set foot on holy ground. What no one knows is that Mother Superior is herself a pagan at heart and a lesbian. And rather than be forced into marriage with men, she embraced the church.

Since her ascension to the top position, she has taken steps to include other ladies like herself who don't fit in 'man's world'.

I like that idea, the only problem is that Catholics would not have been around that area at the time.

Catholics would have been in French or Spanish controlled territories, the Puritans were the dominant religion in the areas of the witch trials and their whole reason for splitting off from the Church of England was because they hated the elements and opulence of Catholicism that was still ingrained in the Church of England.

So if a Catholic nun showed up they would be more likely to murder her if she showed up. Heck, just a woman trying to offer any kind of opinion on religious opinion would piss them off (in fact one theory that has been discussed with the witch trials is that part of the reason the girls who accused others of witch craft kept accusing was because for once, people were taking their voices seriously and giving them weight in the community).

But if you want a historical angle (though this would be different than the theme I had intended): Spanish Inquisition. A mother superior using her authority to bring the daughters of conversos into her convent as a way of protecting them or trying to hopefully avert the eyes of the inquisition from their parents could work. On the surface she allows them safety in the eyes of the church but she also allows them to secretly worship if they still practice Judaism or Islam while also creating a safe place for sexual exploration (both as a bonding experience…and blackmail if anyone tries to narc on things)

Good idea, the idea of never having isn't easy and the MC would have to find ways to justify this with her own faith. Also, living in a convent full of other beautiful women, she'd have plenty of opportunity to enjoy herself.
