Does anyone know why such a small percentage of people vote after reading?

I submitted my first story and - out of a thousand or so readers - received only five votes.

Are they just being kind? Or apathetic?

Anyone else have this phenomenon?

Thanks for any help.

(here's the story - vote! :D )

Apathy more than anything else I think. Been discussed many many times, but the truth is that readers don't care about author's egos, but just about getting horny. Sad, but true.

You'll find the vote percentage changes depending on which category. You'll tend to get less reads, but more votes if you write for a select audience, eg. for a particular fetish, or about a particular celebrity, etc.

Thanks, your grace (Is that how one address an Earl? :) )

Glad it isn't just me.
