I've not been on Lit for a while, and would like to ease back into it... now while I have a wide range of settings that I enjoy writing many genre, I've been interested in superheroes more of late since I have been working hard to get my life back together.

I'll post a few things about the kind of setting of the game on this thread to give an idea of how it all comes together...

So here's the ad!

"There once was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people. People with meta-human capabilities or exceptional skill-sets, so that whenever our nation, or our world, had a desperate needed for them… that they would then be able to fight the kind of battles that ordinary men & women just never could fight alone. And then there came a day, a day unlike any other... in fact it was a Friday, when the Earth's Unlikeliest Heroes found themselves thrown together to fight against a common threat to all of creation, a fight that no single superhero could withstand by themselves. And it was on that day, that Freedom's Avengers were born." - The Norn's message to The Freedom League, the Justice League of America and the Avengers

"We were told that just because a few misfits saved the omni-verse, it doesn't automatically make you an Avenger no matter what an all-powerful force of creation itself might say... instead we're now the latest of the Franchises to be set-up by the Avengers. Yeah, we're the lowest on the totem pole, right behind the Great Lakes Avengers, who are behind the Gulf Coast Avengers who are right behind the West Coast Avengers in seniority... but they're giving us a hell of a lot of rope to hang ourselves! Thus we've got to hold open try-outs to find people to fill out our team roster. Who knows... we might luck out and get someone like Nightwing, or Luke Cage… Or if we are really lucky even Antoinette Edwina 'Tony' Stark bringing along Stark Industries behind her support, that way we don't have to worry about offending her fraternal twin brother Anthony Edwin 'Tony' Stark III and Stark Enterprises! Though I doubt it. Captain America and Iron Man keep calling me the only sane sumbeach on the team. I really, really hope we can find someone with a talent for leadership soon, I REALLY hate paperwork..." - American Patriot (MSG Nathaniel Hale Spaight, US Army - Ret.)

"Yes, I'm begging here... because I really HATE paperwork!" - American Patriot

Do you like comics, super-heroes and stories of daring do?

Have you ever thought that Marvel and DC had characters that really would work great together in a story?

Well, so do I… in fact when I run tabletop games using the Freedom City setting from the Mutants & Masterminds 2e RPG I have built a setting that combines the best elements of the three settings to create a single whole that flows seamlessly and naturally… and has plenty of room for Original Characters to carry the torch for legacies of the past if so desired. But there is even more room for those same characters to establish their own identities and legacies that shine as bright or even brighter than those well-established heroes! Want your character background to include mentorship or inspiration from some big name costumed hero, then this is the setting for you.

Did your character get inspired by the Batman's war against the rampant corruption in city government, police and society that ran throughout all levels of Gotham City as he worked to make the streets safe for good and honest citizens?

Did your character go to MIT and Cal Tech with Anthony Edwin 'Tony' Stark III (aka "Iron Man III") or his fraternal twin sister Antoinette Edwina 'Tony' Stark (aka "Iron Maiden")? Or hell, do you want to play Toni and have access to all the resources of Stark Industries?

Did your character work for SHIELD or one if its sister agencies?

The possibilities are endless...

Freedom City feels abandoned after the Freedom League chose to start focusing on Global Threats, local threats act as if they are able to do whatever they want with impunity, but Freedom City might not have the Freedom League around anymore… they are not without someone ready to step up to the bat.

Do you have what it takes?

DC-Marvel and Freedom-verse Timeline

The Main Freedom-verse Setting merged with elements from Marvel and DC Comics Universes (and a few others to boot)

The Pulp Age (1900-1938)

In 1908, a massive explosion occurs in Tunguska, Siberia that flattens everything in a 35-mile radius. The cause will remain unknown for nearly a century, with theories ranging from a rogue comet or meteor to an alien vessel or microscopic black hole.

1912 the RMS Titanic sinks during her maiden voyage after hitting an iceberg.

In 1918 a small life-pod enters Earth's dimension and lands west of Freedom City carrying an infant whom is adopted by the Leeds family, and named Mark. The child will grow up to become Mark Leeds, better known around the world by the codename 'Centurion'.

Later in the year 1918, Thüle Society is founded in Germany, based upon the ancient legends of the 'lost land' of Ultima Thüle (much to the later displeasure and horror of the majority of the citizens of that hidden society).

During the horrific depression of the 1920s, Europe started to see the growing emergence of meta-humans… that it was felt was brought upon by the abject poverty and chaotic conditions that caused the activation of the meta-gene. This caused many doctors and scientists to start intensive research the causes of these breakouts, and one of the leading men who first postulated the causes also dubbed the men and women with such amazing powers and abilities that broke the laws of physics "Meta-Humans" was the Jewish German Scientist, DR Josef Reinstein.

DR Josef Reinstein postulated that the heroes and demi-gods of legend where in fact meta-humans, and that meta-humans was a survival mechanism developed by the Human race as a whole to protect them from grave threats that could not normally be solved any other way. He further stated that meta-humans would appear because quite simply That heroes will always appear in their hour of greatest need, and that due to the horrible social and civil conditions that where on the rise around the world combined with the expanding growth in population… that reasoned that more and more meta-humans would appear with an increase in their level of power and abilities.

During what historians would call the Pulp Age, the majority of meta-humans (commonly called Mystery Men by the newspapers) were only slightly more than human with amazing gifts and powers… such as Doc Savage (the Man of Bronze) and the mysterious Shadow. But as the decade progressed their powers and abilities started to increase and become more and more outside the bounds of normal human capacity. Thus prompting more and more interest in trying to find out just what caused the appearance of Meta-Humans… and if it could be harnessed.

During Prohibition and the Great Depression in the United States, saw the rise of what the News Papers dubbed 'Mystery Men' who were operating outside the law in their individual efforts to fight against corruption and the various organized crime families that were located in all of the major cities across the nation. While J. Edgar Hoover had his doubts about the rising tide of Mystery Men, he saw them as an asset that his agents of the FBI could harness in fighting against not only organized crime, but also against communists, socialists, fascist groups and governmental corruption all across the country. Rumors persist even into the Modern Age that J. Edgar Hoover had kept a set of secret files on the Mystery Men, just as he did for public officials and celebrities, and that he used this information as leverage to get the assistance of various Mystery Men to help him bring down Al Capone and other major Organized Crime bosses all across the country.

Throughout the latter half of the 1920s and early 1930s, DR Josef Reinstein would continue to expand upon his theories on the nature of meta-humans during his research in an attempt to better understand the phenomena and possibly trigger the breakout event to create new meta-humans. In fact his exceptionally well-known work received financing and support from benefactors from around the world, including many other scientists who wished to work with him. But the growing rise of the National Socialists in Germany caused much fear and trepidation in DR Josef Reinstein, especially when one of his protégées (DR Arnim Zola) started to espouse the possibility that meta-humans were somehow part of the Master Race that the Nazi party preached so much about. This caused DR Josef Reinstein so much fear that he faked his own death with the help of some of his colleagues in Great Britain, who helped smuggle him and some of his notes out of Germany to the United States via Canada in 1934 in the aftermath of the "Night of the Long Knives."

30 June to 2 July 1934, the Night of the Long Knives (sometimes called Operation Hummingbird or the Röhm-Putsch) was a purge that took place in Nazi Germany when the Regime carried out a series of political murders… Leading figures of the left-wing Strasserist faction of the Nazi Party, along with its figurehead, Gregor Strasser, were murdered, as were prominent conservative anti-Nazis (such as former Chancellor Kurt von Schleicher and Gustav Ritter von Kahr, who had suppressed Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch in 1923). Many of those killed were leaders of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the paramilitary Brownshirts.

Mid-1936, DR Josef Reinstein becomes known as Professor Abraham Erskine.

The Golden Age (1938-1950)

On June 1938, perhaps the most famous and powerful meta-humans, Mark Leeds, made his first public appearance when he stopped a bank robbery… and he would become known by codename the Centurion. He would become the greatest champion of freedom, liberty and justice for almost the entire Twentieth Century. He would inspire other meta-humans to don colorful costumes and perform altruistic deeds in a much more public manner; much like the Mystery Men of the Pulp Age had been doing in secret. But his appearance also inspired less altruistic meta-humans as well… costumed villains also started to appear shortly after his public debut.

On 12 November 1938, days after "Kristallnacht" (aka "Crystal Night" or "The Night of Broken Glass") in Nazi Germany and Austria… a group of representatives of the leaders of the United States and Great Britain approached DR Josef Reinstein (now known as Professor Abraham Erskine) and asked him to head up what would become known as Project Rebirth (the precursor to the Weapons Plus Program) to come up with a way to adapt the procedures that were used by Nazi Germany and its allies to create meta-human super-soldiers. Professor Erskine was appalled by the concept, but after being informed that the Axis powers had been using his research to create the initial serum, he relented and threw himself into the project.

By late-1939/early-1940 Professor Erskine had created the prototype of the super-soldier serum and needed a human test subject, and when he did not like subjects that the military provided he started to look elsewhere and found a Fine Arts student who had been found unfit for service, but was desperate to find a way to serve his country… and thus he came to chose Steven Grant 'Steve' Rogers to be the initial test subject, much to the displeasure of US Army General Chester Phillips.

But when the serum worked, and Steve Rogers was transformed into the first allied meta-human super-soldier who would become known as "Captain America"… Rogers was granted enhanced stamina & endurance, exceptional agility & dexterity, amazing regenerative capabilities, immunities to poisons & diseases, each of his senses where enhanced to maximum human potential, and most spectacularly the meta-human ability to lift 2.5-tons.

To make sure that the serum would work on other subjects, the second person to test the serum was a US Army officer named Clinton McIntyre. Due to his already apparent good health and physical conditioning McIntyre was at first seen as an even greater success. His physical meta-human capabilities not only matched those of Rogers, they exceeded them! His strength was more than triple that of Rogers when he was able to lift 10-tons. Plans were underway to unveil him as America's first super-soldier under the codename "Major Victory", but unfortunately this was not to be due to an unforeseen physical reaction to the serum that caused McIntyre to become mentally unstable... a severe increase in his mental state that was compounded by an undiagnosed propensity for violence and rage that triggered a rampage after the leaders of Project Rebirth chose to go with Rogers being unveiled as the first of America's meta-human super-soldiers.

McIntyre's rampage through New York City was stopped by Rogers, in what would become his first appearance as Captain America. The Roosevelt Administration was able to turn Rogers as Captain America in a recruiting symbol thanks to how well he was able to deal with what the papers dubbed "Major Disaster" (a name that would go on to classify Clinton McIntyre) by causing him to be frozen in a block of ice with the aid of cryonics researcher DR Victor Fries (during the Iron Age, Clinton McIntyre's frozen body would be thawed out by agents of <HIVE> in an attempt to get a sample of his blood… but just like Steve Rogers, he was revived from his cryogenic sleep to which he promptly escaped and found himself a man out of time).

Ironically, DR Victor Fries own grandson would continue his research and tragically be transformed into the meta-human costumed criminal "Mr. Freeze" and come into conflict against the costumed detective & Dark Knight of Gotham City… the Batman (Bruce Wayne).

During research into why McIntyre had been such a colossal failure, Professor Erskine was able to discover the presence of something that he would call the meta-gene. And that while both Rogers and McIntyre possessed the meta-gene, McIntyre's meta-gene was very different from Rogers. Using this data, Project Rebirth started searching through the thousands of volunteers for the right 'type' of meta-gene… and working with psychologists who put the volunteers through a tough battery of tests that ended with the personal interview with Professor Erskine himself, was 180 men and women selected for the second stage of the project by mid-1941.

In 1939, Crown Princess Hippolyta of Themescira was an Amazon whom was known as an excellent warrior and scholar that was well respected by all of her sisters... and was being groomed for her assumption of her mother Queen Hippolyte's throne when she stepped down, right up until the fated day when a US Navy Carrier-based fighter had been swept up in the Berumda Triangle causing it to crash in the shallow waters just off the coast of Themiscrya carrying US Army military intelligence officer Captain Steve Leonard Trevor. Crown Princess Hippolyta pulled Captain Trevor and the body of the Navy Pilot that he had tried to save despite his own injuries. Having never actually seen a true man before, Hippolyta was immediately attracted to the handsome man despite his extensive injuries. Violating the Island rules about taking in outsiders, Hippolyta took the unconscious Trevor back to the Amazons in an attempt to save his life. Pleading with her mother to save the man, Queen Hippolyte relented and used the life healing Purple Ray on Trevor... saving his life.

As Captain Trevor slowly recovered the Amazons discovered that the outside world was engaged in full worldwide war, Crown Princess Hippolyta wanted to participate and help stop the war. But Queen Hippolyte refused stating that she and the others should not get involved in the ways of the outsiders. But when the goddess Aphrodite declared that it was time for an Amazon to travel to "Man's World" and fight the evil of the Nazis, a tournament was held to determine who would be the Amazon champion. Although forbidden by Queen Hippolyte to participate in the tournament, Princess Hippolyta did so nevertheless, concealing her identity with a mask. Upon winning Diana revealed her identity to her heartbroken mother who feared that she would never see her daughter again. After winning the tournament and revealing her true identity, Queen Hippolyte relented and allowed her daughter to wear the costume of Wonder Woman and travel to the outside world. Diana returned Captain Steven Leonard Trevor to the United States and adopted the identity of an Army nurse named "Diana Athena Prince" so she could be close to Trevor as he recovered from his injuries.

After her arrival in "Patriarch's World" in 1939, Wonder Woman I (Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira aka "Diana Prince") joined the Justice Society of America. After the United States of America entered the Second World War, Wonder Woman I (Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira) was asked to join the Invaders for many of their missions on the behalf of the Allies.

Shortly after the end of the Second World War in early-1946, Hippolyta returned to Paradise Island when she was summoned right after she had been elected as one of the new Queens of the Matriarchy. After her arrival she prompted the Matriarchy of Themyscira to return to its pre-War isolationist stance in light of the use of the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to force the surrender of the Empire of Japan so that the allies would not have to engage in a long and costly conventional invasion of the Japanese home islands… something that estimates stated would have bled the allies dry while bringing about the extermination of the Japanese people. But to now-Queen Hippolyta the devastation that had been unleashed by the atomic weapons was something that terrified her, and that MAN should not have the kind of power that only the GODS should wield. While she allowed very limited contact with the Patriarch's world in an effort to ensure that the Matriarchy of Themyscira would not end up the victim of outside forces, she kept that contact limited through her or her co-Ruling Queen.

The Silver Age (1950-1970):

In 1952, the Amazons had lived for several millennia in peace and advancement… openly working with and obeying the will of the Gods & Goddesses of Ancient Olympus, but Hippolyta after returning from her time in the world of men started to long for a child of her own. Thus Hippolyta, the new co-Queen of the Amazons, begged for the gods & goddesses to grant her request. Sympathetic to Hippolyta's request, they instructed her to mold some clay from the shores of Paradise Island into the form of a baby girl. The six members of the Greek Pantheon whom had become their patron goddesses then bonded the soul to the clay, giving it life. Each of the six also granted the child that was named Diana a gift: Demeter, granted the child great strength; Athena, granted her wisdom and courage; Artemis, granted her a hunter's heart and communion with animals; Aphrodite, granted her beauty and a loving heart; Hestia, granted her sisterhood with fire; Hermes, granted her speed and the power of flight.

Pleased with the child, Queen Hippolyta began to raise her daughter as an Amazon with all the station and privilege of her mother's royalty. As the first child born on Paradise Island in its three thousand year history… since every woman in the island population had been in fact immortal (and that the Amazons lived in a single gender society and culture) saw that the young girl would grow up surrounded by a legion of sisters and mothers. Crown Princess Diana would age slowly and for the most part stopped aging altogether upon reaching adulthood as with all of the Amazons. Diana would continue to excel surpassing most of her Amazon sisters in her skills and intelligence.

The first Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) starts to operate as a costumed adventurer using his exceptional skill in archery in 1958 operating in <city>.

At some point during the mid-1960s, the Kryptonian city of Kandor was abducted by Brainiac, who used a miniaturization device to store the city along with other examples of each of the civilizations he had encountered; the inhabitants of Kandor would later be augmented with the integration of survivors of Argo City.

In 1968, fraternal twins Alexander Joseph 'Lex' Luthor and Lutessa Lena 'Tess' Luthor are born to Lionel and Letitia Luthor.

The Iron Age (1990-2002)

The Iron Age was punctuated by brutality and violence, and was thankfully a short and dark time in the annals of Meta-Humans. So much so, that many commentators on meta-human activities have often times referred to it as the Dark Age… it is during this period that many cities such as Freedom City had passed local laws that had outlawed both costume vigilantes and even bared meta-humans living or working within the city limits. And many of these cities would quickly became rife with corruption and violent street crimes that rapidly spiraled out of control throughout what many also call the "Decade of Greed and Deceit."

In late 1993, Raven I (Duncan Summers) retires from active costumed adventuring to raise his nine year old daughter Callie after the death of his beloved wife Jasmine at the hands of his father-in-law Doctor Sin. Duncan Summers had used his wealth to fund the purchase of the Claremont Academy, an ailing private boarding school located in Freedom City that had at one time been one of the finest preparatory schools in the country in the late-1980s.

It was during his time as the first Raven, Duncan Summers had encountered many juvenile meta-humans and saw that they would have only needed a way to be given a positive focus to have avoided a life of crime, so he saw the use of the Claremont Academy as the perfect outlet to provide such a focus.

Thus, in his retirement from costumed adventuring Duncan Summers would choose to dedicate himself to not only raising his young daughter… but to also educate meta-human children in the responsible use of their various gifts as the new owner and headmaster of the Claremont Academy and thus he completely relocated his family from New York City to Freedom City.

The Modern Age (2002-Pres.)

The Modern Age started with the al-Qaeda terror attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon on 11 September 2001, that was then followed by the Terminus Invasion of Freedom City on <> 2002 that saw the death of Centurion and many of the so-called 'Outlaw Vigilante Heroes' who were operating in Freedom City in violation of the Moore Act. Both of these horrible acts proved that both normal human threats and extra-terrestrial (or extra-dimensional) threats were actually circumvented or mitigated thanks to the presence of costumed meta-human adventurers out there being allowed to try and do the right thing.

The Terminus Invasion ended with the death of the Centurion after his one-on-one fight with Lord Omega that had forced the forces of the Terminus to withdraw from our reality. This devastating loss case the formation of the Modern Age incarnation of the newly reestablished Freedom League

The aftermath of the September 11th Terror Attacks and the Terminus Invasion saw a major change in the American Psyche when it came to their meta-Human population… for the most part, they were no longer feared and despised by the general public.

During the Global War on Terror, the United States created two new Executive Branch departments… the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Meta-Human Affairs (expanded from the Office of Meta-Human Affairs). The Department of Meta-Human Affairs was originally the Office of Meta-Human Affairs and had been part of the Executive Branch of the government that acted as advisors to the President of the United States… The Department of Meta-Human Affairs was created to handle a wide range of issues dealing with Meta-Humans in the United States, and during the Bush Administration was remarked to have been instrumental in improving public acceptance of meta-Humans. Much of this came from the DMHA organizing groups of meta-human volunteers in providing help and support during natural disasters and other community improvement events.

In early-2003, Michael Cameron O'Conner JR was elected as the new Mayor of Freedom City thanks to his "No Moore" Campaign after a year-long campaign to fight not only the political corruption of the Moore administration, but it allowed him to purge the corrupt city political machine apparatus. During his first six year term as Mayor of the Freedom City, Mayor Michael O'Conner JR spent a great deal of effort in restoring the people's faith in their City government and Police Department.

Mayor O'Conner established Honor Day, an annual city-wide holiday to commemorate the defeat of Omega and the sacrifice of the Centurion and the other fallen heroes responsible during the dedication of the Sentry Statue in Riverside Park in <>.

Many observers and pundits had watched in awe has the new charismatic O'Conner had cleaned up a local Democratic Party in Freedom City that had become seen as being as corrupt as that found in Chicago during his first term in office.

The Bronze Age (1970-1990)

In mid-1972, Franklin Moore makes his first attempt at running for Mayor of Freedom City.

In 1977 Captain Nathaniel Christopher Adam, a highly decorated United States Air Force officer who had flown numerous successful combat missions during Vietnam War, was framed for a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to death under the watch of Lt. Col. Wade Eiling. As an alternative to execution, he was invited to participate in a military experiment that had little chances of survival, in exchange for a presidential pardon. The experiment involved testing the hull of a crashed alien ship's durability by exploding a super nuclear bomb under it. Adam survived as the metal melted into his body and the excess energy threw him forward in time over twenty years later (not incidentally, this coating with alien metal gave him a full-body silvered metal), he would go on to become known as the meta-human adventurer Captain Atom.

At some point in Earth year 1978, Kryptonian scientist Jor-EL and his wife Lara Lor-Van launch their infant son Kal-EL in an experimental rocketship that Jor-EL had invented in an effort to get him safety away from their doomed homeworld as their home planet is consumed by a planet destroying catastrophe. The small spacecraft carrying the infant Kal-EL crash lands in one of the fields of the Kent Farm located just outside Smallville, Kansas during the Great Blizzard of 1978, he is discovered and adopted by Jonathan & Martha Kent who name him Clark Joseph Jeremiah Kent.

Late-1978, Franklin Moore once more fails to be elected Mayor of Freedom City.

In 1979, adventurer Duncan Summers returns home after having discovered a lost fabled treasure during his travels through Asia that makes him one of the wealthiest men in the United States. Unfortunately, while he was discovering the fabulous lost treasure his parents and younger sister was killed by mob violence. Duncan Summers would dedicate his life and wealth to combating crime in Freedom City as the costumed vigilante known as the first Raven. It would be stories of the Raven protecting Freedom City that years later would later provide an example that inspires a young Bruce Wayne in his decision to combat crime after the murder of his parents.

Early-1984, the Wedding of Andrea Atom and the Prince Mentac of Farside markes the end of the Atom Family's adventuring careers as Jack Wolf leaves Freedom City to become a Mercenary with the Soldiers of Fortune.

Early-1984, The Blackstone Riot occurs when Doc Abattoir and Countess Azure mastermind a prison break at Blackstone Penitentiary, but their plan goes awry and the escaped super-criminals are forced to take hostages after setting off a riot inside the prison. Botched handling by Freedom City’s administration leaves the warden and forty guards dead by the end of the siege, along with almost a dozen inmates, including the instigators of the riot. A total breakdown and mass escape is prevented only by quick action from a rookie guard named Joshua Drummer and Dr. Abby Wallace, one of the prison security experts. Blame for the disaster falls on the city’s administration as well as absent heroes like the former Freedom Leaguers, despite evidence that various distractions were arranged to keep heroes like Centurion occupied when the prison-break occurred. CODE, in particular, rails against the failures leading up to the incident, and the group’s membership swells in its wake.

Mid-1984, Jasmine Sin gives birth to the daughter of the Raven I (Duncan Summers) after the two had fallen in love and had a secret affair.

Late-1984, after co-opting CODE ("Citizens for Order, Decency and Ethics") Franklin Moore is finally elected mayor of Freedom City on a platform of “zero-tolerance” for crime and vigilantism, which includes costumed vigilantes as well. Moore’s campaign rails against failures like the Blackstone Riot and the apparent inability of costumed heroes to defend the city, given incidents like Bowman’s public failures and the disbanding of the Freedom League. The support of CODE and similar grassroots groups features strongly in the campaign. The new mayor’s first act in office is to outlaw costumed heroes. With the signing of the Moore Act, even stalwarts like Centurion are forced to stop operating in Freedom City rather than defy the new law. Centurion begins operating out of his Sanctum and focuses his efforts globally rather than locally in Freedom.

In early-1985, Archer forms FORCE Ops in defiance of the Moore Act, uniting a young and sometimes brutal cadre of heroes to fight Mayor Moore’s corrupt political machine along with more standard menaces and enemies. The new heroes are quickly branded outlaws by the administration and the Freedom City Police Department.

26 April 1986, a Soviet nuclear reactor in Chernobyl suffers a massive systems failure.

In late 1986, an eight year old Bruce Wayne witnessed the brutal murders of his parents before his eyes. DR Thomas and Martha Wayne were walking home from the theater one night with their young son when they were held up at gunpoint by a mugger whom had leapt from the shadows of Park Row and assaulted them, demanding money. Thomas tried to fight back, but the mugger shot him directly in the chest, killing him. He then turned his gun on Martha and viciously ended her life as well. Bruce Wayne stared on in horror, as his parents lay dead beside him. The killer then turned on his heel and ran from the alleyway. Fortunately, medical doctor and social worker DR Leslie Thompkins was available to give loving comfort to the traumatized Bruce. He would then be raised at Wayne Manor by the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth and educated by some of the finest tutors available. Bruce made a graveside promise that he would bring the lowly killer to justice and avenge their deaths.

In mid-1987, during a high school field trip to Osborn Industries Peter Benjamin 'Pete' Parker is bitten by a spider that had been exposed to the Oz Compound, a super soldier serum. Imbuing him with the proportionate powers of a spider, Peter gained superhuman strength, speed, agility and stamina and the ability to stick to and crawl surfaces. After that fateful day at Oscorp Industries, Parker put his new found abilities to fight and won a local wrestling challenge. The promoter of the fight gave Peter a new costume and Peter was given the name Spider-Man. His wrestling career ended when he was accused of stealing the promoter's money. In a bad mood, Peter allowed a burglar he encountered on his way home to escape from a robbery. His actions would later haunt him. After having a heated argument with his uncle Ben over poor grades and a bad attitude, Peter ran off to cool down. When Peter returned home, he learned that the same burglar from the robbery had murdered Uncle Ben in his absence. Feeling so guilty over his inactions which had led to the death of a loved one, Parker vowed that as long as he was capable he would serve and protect others. As Uncle Ben once said to him, "With great power there must also come a great responsibility." Shortly after turning sixteen, Peter took a part-time job at the Daily Bugle working as a freelance photographer.

In late-1987, the nineteen year old Lex Luthor established a small aerospace engineering company he named LexCorp after graduating from MIT with a one of his many doctorates. By 1992, LexCorp made its first acquisitions of two then-struggling airlines, Inter-Continental Airlines and Atlantic Coast Air Systems (since renamed LexAir). As LexCorp subsidiaries, the airlines began to prosper. And when rising profits were threatened by chronic fuel shortages, LexCorp bought out Southwestern Petroleum (now known as LexOil) in 1994.

In 1988, Richard 'Dick' Grayson was born on the first day of spring. His mother nicknamed him her "little Robin" from the sounds of the birds singing outside the window of their home that helped the infant fall asleep. Little did she know how prophetic this term of endearment would become in her son's future.

In mid-1989, Peter Benjamin 'Pete' Parker enrolls in Empire State University pursuing a degree in journalism as long-time girlfriend starts classes to get a degree in drama. While attending classes at Empire State University, Pete Parker becomes a lab assistant for DR Jonathon Drew ScD/PhD/MD and DR Kurt Connors ScD/MD/PhD, whom worked with Peter to get him into the sciences program as well as the journalism program… While working in the lab DR Jonathon Drew was able to get a blood sample that had been taken from Spiderman by one of the so-called “Spidey-Slayer” robots that The Daily Bugle newspaper had sponsored. Jonathan used the blood sample to create several clones of Spiderman, but he had chosen to alter most of the clones on a genetic level to change things such as their hair color or sex. One of the three clones that he had changed the gender, would be raised by he and his wife Merriem as their daughter named Jessica Mariam 'Jessie' Drew (who would later go on to become known as the costumed meta-human adventuress Spiderwoman in 2007). The other clones were 'raised' using less mundane methods that rapidly aged them, and 'programed' them with alternate memories and emotions. Unfortunately, the majority of these altered clones would go mad and make their escape to become threats to Spiderman and go after his friends and family.

In mid-1989, Freedom City celebrates its bicentennial.

November 1989, the Berlin Wall is torn down.

In late-1989, The Crimson Mask steals the Mirror of Souls from Eldrich’s sanctum and uses it to restore Overshadow’s shattered mind, allowing the arch-villain to seize control of SHADOW once more.

The Iron Age (1990-2001): The Iron Age was punctuated by brutality and violence, and was thankfully a short and dark time in the annals of Meta-Humans. So much so that many commentators on meta-human activities have often times referred to it as the Dark Age. Mid-1990, Overshadow returns, armed with the Tapestry of Fate, and attempts to kill AEGIS Director Jack Simmons. The former Patriot overcomes his old foe. After Overshadow falls to his apparent death, it’s widely believed that SHADOW is broken and defeated. In the wake of Simmons’ retirement and SHADOW’s apparent defeat, public and administration support from AEGIS begins to wane. The cost of operating the agency is increasingly called into question and AEGIS is in serious danger of being de-funded or incorporated into other federal agencies.

Late-1990, the Cold War begins to come to an end with the collapse of the USSR and the reunification of East and West Germany.

November 1990, Franklin Moore is reelected to a second term in office thanks to the continued support of CODE and similar citizen-action groups is pivotal.

The Eyes of Night return to Freedom City and operate in defiance of the Moore Act in the West End and Fens neighborhoods.

In 1992, the fourteen year old Bruce Wayne begins a global sojourn so he could attend classes at Cambridge, the Sorbonne and several other famous European universities. Over the next six years he would focus on learning all of the skills that would later serve him exceptionally well in his costumed identity as the Batman.

In 1993, Peter Benjamin 'Pete' Parker and Mary Jane 'MJ' Watson get married in an elegant ceremony shortly after they graduated from Empire State University. Pete continues to work for The Daily Bugle as a photographer, but quickly advances to become a photojournalist whose work becomes used in the other publicans being put out by the Daily Bugle while MJ continues her successful career as a professional model (usually with Pete acting as the lead photographer), and actually is able to start an even more successful acting career on and off Broadway… and landing a role on one of the longest running soap operas filmed in New York City.

In 1993 Green Arrow II (Oliver Jonas Queen) starts his career as a costumed vigilante archer.

In early-1993, Mentac and Andrea Atom give birth to Maximus 'Max' Atom.

In late 1993, Raven I (Duncan Summers) retires from active costumed adventuring to raise his nine year old daughter Callie after the death of his beloved wife Jasmine. Duncan Summers had used his wealth to fund the purchase of the Claremont Academy, an ailing private boarding school in Freedom City that had at one time been one of the finest preparatory schools in the country in the late-1980s. Summers had encountered juvenile meta-humans and saw that they needed a way to be given a positive focus, so he saw the use of the Claremont Academy as the perfect outlet. He would be aided in his quest to create a quality core curriculum with the help of Professor Charles F. Xavier PhD/ScD (whose own schools were focused only in educating and training meta-human mutants in the use of the meta-human abilities that had been activate since birth). In his retirement from active costumed adventuring Duncan Summers would dedicate himself to raising his daughter, and educating meta-human children in the responsible use of their various gifts as the Headmaster of the Claremont Academy.

In 1994, Pete and Mary Jane Watson-Parker give birth to their daughter May 'Mayday' Parker.

In mid-1994, Mentac and Andrea Atom give birth to Tesla 'Tess' Atom.

In the mid-1995, US Army Special Forces Sergeant First Class Slade Joseph Wilson volunteers to test a new version of the World War Two-era super-soldier serum that at first appears to be an abject failure causing what appeared to be serious dehabilitating side effects, but will slowly grant him the standard powers of a meta-human super-soldier… with enhanced mental and intellectual capabilities that he will use to create for himself the identity of the meta-human costumed mercenary known as "Deathstroke the Terminator" after he is given a medical discharge from the US Army and placed on full disability. Wilson's desire to continue to serve his country prompted him to become a mercenary and take jobs for the American intelligence community all across the world, but later he started to take jobs for other interests as well.

In 1996, Mentac and Andrea Atom give birth to Victoria 'Vicki' Atom.

Late-1996, Franklin Moore is reelected to a third term in office, despite rumors and accusations of political corruption, misappropriation of funds, and nepotism within the administration. Once again, the support of CODE and similar citizen-action groups is pivotal. It will later be revealed the Moore campaign has aid from criminal organizations, from the Freedom City Mob to shell political action committees funded by SHADOW and the Labyrinth.

In 1998, 20 year old Bruce Wayne attempts to join the FBI… but he learns that it would be impossible to fight crime and evil within the legal system. This prompts Bruce Wayne to return to Gotham City where he started to establish several cover identities that would lead up to his creation of the costumed vigilante known as the Batman in mid-1999.

In 1998, Mentac and Andrea Atom give birth to Chase Atom.

In 1999, US Air Force Capt. Adam regained coherence and found himself a man out of his time and in the hands of Eiling, now a four-star general and the second husband of Adam's now-deceased wife. Everyone had assumed that Nathaniel Adam had died on the day of the experiment, so his presidential pardon was never issued and the current government refused to acknowledge the previous administration's promised pardon. Seizing the opportunity at hand, the government used the outstanding murder/treason charges against Adam to blackmail him into being a government-controlled superhero (codenamed "Captain Atom"). And in keeping Adam's true origin a secret, the government gave him a origin and he was assigned the alias of Cameron Scott, an Air Force intelligence operative.

Upon his initial return from the Quantum Field, Nathaniel Adam was the classic "man out of his time" and many of his early conflicts involved him coming to terms with his lost time with his children (who were now close to his current age as a result of the time jump), the death of his wife (who had married his nemesis Eiling prior to dying), and the overall ramifications of his newly acquired powers. Captain Atom would serve under Gen. Eiling reluctantly and succeed in finally clearing his name with the help of his teammates in the Justice League of America, thus allowing him the ability to resign from the Air Force and found some fulfillment as an actual superhero in 2003.

In 2000, Pete and Mary Jane Watson-Parker give birth to their son Benjamin Richard 'Benji' Parker after a long and complicated pregnancy that had prompted Pete to take a break operating as Spiderman.

In early-2000 a spaceship carrying Green Lantern Abin Sur, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 is damaged by the yellow radiation energies of one of the magnetic belts surrounding the Earth, mortally wounding the famous veteran of the Lantern Corps. The dying Lantern ordered his ring to search the Earth for suitable successors to wield it after he passed on and it chose test pilot Harold 'Hal' Jordon, a former US Air Force Fighter Pilot whom at the time worked for Ferris Aircraft.

In mid-2000 Alexander Joseph 'Lex' Luthor engages in a hostile takeover of the Luthor Corporation and forces his father out of the position as President & CEO in retaliation for having felt that he had insulted him with only giving him a few million in capital to establish LexCorp, instead of having entrusted him with a powerful position in Luthor Corporation itself. When he learned what his son had done, Lionel Luthor expressed a great deal of pleasure at his accomplishment. The takeover of Luthor Corporation by LexCorp incorporated one of the oldest companies in the United States with one of the youngest & most aggressive companies in the country.

In late-2000, While on tour in Gotham City in 2000, Richard 'Dick' Grayson overheard "Boss" Tony Zucco (a well-known and feared crime-lord in Gotham City) threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid him extortion money. The owner steadfastly refused, and later that night Dick watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending his parents hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham's elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible, because he didn't warn his parents in time. Dick was a twelve-year-old Romany circus acrobat, the youngest of a family act called The Flying Graysons of The Haley Circus. Dick had joined the act at a very young age, since having been trained in acrobatics from birth. Before one of the appearances in Gotham, in which The Flying Graysons were the main attraction, they were asked to pose for a photo opportunity with the Drake Family, including their young son Tim Drake. From that time on Tim's one and only hero in the world was Dick.

Shortly after the tragedy, Dick had found himself placed in an uncaring juvenile services system, on the grounds that the Social Services were full and he got beaten up by a number of the inmates… after this incident he was sent to a local Catholic orphanage. Bruce Wayne rescued Dick by adopting him as his ward, because the boy did not want to replace his deceased father with the billionaire. But Dick quickly became frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding his parents' death, Dick sneaked out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder. When Dick returned to the circus, he was confronted by Zucco's business associate, Eddie Skeevers who nearly killed Grayson, but Dick was saved thanks to Batman's intervention. After waking up in the Batcave, he is shocked to learn that Bruce is really the Batman. They succeed in revealing Zucco's complicity, but he supposedly dies of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick; that he could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman made the young orphan the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner. Dick chose the name Robin to honor the nickname that his mother had given him, and his training began. Dick's first mission alongside the Dark Knight had involved battling The Hangman in Gotham's sewers, and then Two-Face and the rest of Batman's Rogues Gallery at the Batcave. They swore an oath late that night that they would fight together against crime and corruption, never swerving from the path of righteousness. Thus, Batman realized for the first time that he did not have to be alone in his crusade.

In early 2001, Callie Summers starts to operate as the costumed adventuress, the second Night Raven over the objections of her father Duncan Summers (the first Night Raven).

By mid-2001,

11 September 2001, a coordinated attack carried out by the terrorist al-Qaeda network destroys the World Trade Centre twin towers and heavily damage the Pentagon.

The Modern Age (2001-Pres.):

"
'

Note: The Modern Age started with the September Eleventh Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington County, followed by a year later with the Terminus Invasion in Freedom City.

11 September 2001, a group of al-Qaeda terrorists carried out the hijacking of four airliners and used them as weapons of mass destruction on 11 September 2001… the September 11th Terror Attacks destroyed both of the World Trade Centre towers and damaged a section of the Pentagon. The fourth airliner was to have attacked the Capitol Building, but the passengers learned what had happened to the WTC and chose to fight back and attempt to retake the liner from the terrorist. But instead the liner crashed into a Pennsylvanian field. This attack shown the world that they did not only have to worry about mega-threats posed by meta-humans, extra-dimensional or extra-terrestrial threats. But even normal humans could deliver the same kind of devastation if given a chance.

In the aftermath of the September Eleventh Terror Attacks saw a major change in the American Psyche when it came to their meta-Human population… for the most part, they were no longer feared and despised by the general public. Especially after groups like the Brotherhood of Mutants had actually helped stop the forces of Terminus during their invasion of Metropolis, and Freedom City… and had actually arrived to provide help in New York City after the September 11th Attack on the World Trade Centre.

In early-2002 the gods of Olympus decreed that the Amazons must send an emissary back into Man's World, with warnings of the coming Terminus Invasion. Queen Hippolyta ordered a contest to be held and in a manner much like her mother before her... forbade Crown Princess Diana from participating. But just like her mother had done before her, Diana disobeyed and did so anyway in disguise... easily winning the contest and being named the Amazon's champion. She was given a uniform that was based upon the one worn by her mother during the Second World War, and assumed the mantle as the second Wonder Woman to honor her mother. The second Wonder Woman did not keep her identity a secret, innocent and without guile. Nonetheless, Diana was trained as an Amazon warrior and had no compunction against using deadly force when called for. Diana often dealt with war, injustice, inequality, death, and conflicts involving the Olympian Gods as well as her duties as the Ambassador-at-Large from the Amazons of Themiscyra and to "Man's World".

Before she embarked on her mission, Crown Princess Diana was given the 'Lasso of Truth', forged by Hephaestus himself that her mother had used during her tenure as the first Wonder Woman. She was also given the Sandals of Hermes, which allowed her to instantly traverse great distances in seconds. Crown Princess Diana's mission was that of peace, but part of it initially involved stopping the pending Terminus Invasion. Crown Princess Diana ventured into the world by starting at Boston. There she met a Harvard professor named DR Helena Sandsmark PhD and her young daughter Cassandra Elizabeth 'Cassie' Sandsmark, who helped the princess get accustomed to "Man's World" and to meet with the Centurion (Mark Leeds).

Mid-2002, the forces of the Terminus under Lord Omega invade Freedom City.
The largest alliance of heroes ever seen unites to repel the inter-dimensional invaders, including many heroes not seen in Freedom City for years. Many heroes are seriously injured, killed, or lost in the ensuing battle. Centurion sacrifices himself to shatter Omega’s support armor, forcing the dimensional overlord to retreat back into the Terminus. Freedom City and the world mourn the loss of their greatest hero. FORCE Ops is no more in the aftermath of the invasion, leaving Freedom without a team of resident heroes once more.

The Terminus Invasion ended with the death of the Centurion after his one-on-one fight with Lord Omega that had forced the forces of the Terminus to withdraw from our reality.

Among the causalities of the Battle of Freedom City

The sacrifice of AEGIS agent Luke Bonham (killed in action during the invasion) and the clear threat posed by the Terminus revitalizes support for AEGIS and helps to heal rifts between the organization and the superhero community.

Doctor Metropolis makes his presence known in Freedom City and lends his powers to the reconstruction effort, allowing it to occur at tremendous speed.

Late-2002, Jack Wolf returns to Freedom City, with Andrea Atom and Mentac missing and presumed dead following Omega’s defeat. Due to Dr. Atom himself dying of cancer and transferring his intellect into an experimental holographic computer system, Jack becomes the legal guardian of the Atom children.

November 2002, Michael O'Conner JR is elected Mayor of Freedom City using his "No Moore" Campaign
Slogan after a year-long campaign to fight not only the political corruption of the Moore administration that was bolstered by the Terminus Invasion, but it allowed him to purge the corrupt city political machine apparatus. During his first six year term as Mayor of the Freedom City, Mayor Michael O'Conner JR spent a great deal of effort in restoring the people's faith in their City government. Mayor O'Conner establishes Honor Day, an annual city-wide holiday to commemorate the defeat of Omega and the sacrifice of the Centurion and the other fallen heroes responsible during the dedication of the Sentry Statue in Riverside Park. Many observers and pundits had watched in awe has the new charismatic O'Conner had cleaned up a local Democratic Party that was seen as being almost as corrupt as found in the city of Chicago during his first term in office.

December 2002, the creation of a think-tank composed of child prodigies whom are given pretty much unlimited resources to study the captured and confiscated weapons and equipment of the invaders. Due to the severe damage to Freedom City, the government builds the ARGUS Complex at Four Freedoms Plaza, inside the Baxter Building in New York City. The name of the organization becomes known as ARGUS aka "Advanced Research Group of the United States." Among the first group of child prodigies to be brought into the program are Susan 'Sue' Storm, Jonathan 'Johnny' Storm, Reed Nathaniel Richards, and the brilliant and gifted Latverian Victor von Doom.

January 2003, Michael O'Connor JR is sworn in as the new Mayor of Freedom City… during his first hundred days in office he takes measures that will purge nearly all of the corrupt officials of the previous Moore Administration. Mayor O’Connor officially repeals the Moore Act, making costumed heroes legal in Freedom City once again. Many of the heroes who came to fight Omega choose to remain and help with reconstruction. A grateful city welcomes their return with open arms and the so-called “Iron Age” draws to a close with the reestablishment of the Freedom League by Captain Thunder.

In early-2003, Duncan Summers reopens the exclusive private preparatory school the Claremont Academy as a location to train young meta-humans in the responsible use of their powers and abilities with the assistance of Professor Charles F. Xavier Ed.D. PhD. ScD. and his years overseeing the operation of not only the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning & the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters… but his knowledge about meta-human mutants and his ability at handling their operations and managing the two schools. The Xavier Institute assisted the Claremont Academy in building their own combat simulator based on the designs of the Danger Room.

In late-2003,

Late-2004, a group of meta-humans came together in Metropolis to create The Justice League of America, and they based their group charter upon the ideals that had been established and championed by the Golden Age team known as the Justice Society of America… an act that greatly mirrored the establishment of the Freedom League in Freedom City after stopping the invasion of the forces of the Apokoliptian overlord Darkeseid.
The founding members of the Justice League of America were; Batman (Bruce Wayne), Superman (Kal-EL aka "Clark Joseph Kent"), Wonder Woman (Princess Diana of Themyscira aka "Diana Prince"), Green Lantern Jordan (Harold 'Hal' Jordon), Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz aka "John Jones"), Green Arrow II (Oliver Jonas Queen), Black Canary II (Dinah Laurel Lance), Hawkman II (Carter Hamilton Hall), Zatanna (Zatanna Zatara), Flash II (Bartholomew Henry 'Barry' Allen), and Aquaman (King Orin II of Neptuneis aka "Arthur Joseph Curry"). Captain Atom will be allowed to join the Justice League at the request of the U.S. government in 2008.

The sidekicks of the founding members of the Justice League also take the initiative and establish their own team, the Teen Titans. The Teen Titans are composed of; Robin I (Richard 'Dick' Grayson), Speedy (Roy William Harper JR), Wonder Girl I (Princess Donna of Themiscrya aka "Donna Troy"), Aqualad (Garth of Neptuneis), Kid Flash I (Wallace 'Wally' West) and Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders).

The multi-billionaire businessman & industrialist Maxwell 'Max' Lord IV had been saved by the members of the Justice League during the Apokoliptian Invasion of Metropolis had been attacked, prompting him to donate half of his fortune to help create the independent non-profit foundation that would provide the Justice League of America with the kind of financial independence that other groups of costumed meta-human adventurers had lacked. Over time other millionaires (Oliver Jonas Queen) and billionaires (such as Bruce Wayne) would donate additional funding that would allow the fund to be completely self-sufficient, something that became crucial after Maxwell Lord IV becomes the King of the Black Court of the New York Chapter of the Hellfire Club in 2008 and was no longer kept on as the trust funds manager.

Early-2005, a group of far left-leaning costumed meta-human adventurers calling that had been known as heroes called The Authority attempt to overthrow George W. Bush after he won reelection when the Avengers and Justice League of America were off-world dealing with a crisis and SHIELD was focused on other problems that had been engineered by them to provide distractions. The Authority launched their coup d’état, but they were stopped by a group of older veteran meta-humans who came out of retirement and dealt with them without anyone being the wiser of their actions.

While the disappearance and deaths of the members of The Authority has been commented upon by many left-leaning commentators in the blogosphere, who started the various conspiracies that the Bush Administration had used a SHIELD Black Ops team to assassinate and murder the various activists that made up the majority of the group who had been very vocal in their opposition to the Administration and its policies. These conspiracies have continued despite the appearance of the Engineer and Swift on other teams, and they have all been ironically portrayed as having turned Judas on The Authority and helped the Bush Administration kill their former teammates.

Due to the fact that this attempt had been stopped by a group of retired meta-humans thanks to the defection of both the Engineer and Swift who allowed them to get the upper hand and stop an action that could have easily spelled an end of the American Republic… These veterans had worked together to stand up against a group of meta-humans from attempting to take over the government, and they had been forced to kill several of the leading members of The Authority. These men and women regretted what they had been forced to do, and took great pains to ensure that the truth of the incident would never get out… since it would have done what they felt would have been irreparable damage to the meta-Human community around the world.

In 2005, Bartholomew Henry 'Barry' Allen was killed while the Justice League was off-world dealing with the problem that had kept them form dealing with the Authority, something that the members of the JLA have been very closed mouthed to give details about… prompting Wallace 'Wally' West to become the third Flash and taking his position in the Justice League of America.

In late-2005, after years of work with the various community leaders of the Morlocks, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani assists them in the creation of a dedicated independent force that quickly becomes the outcast society's law enforcement arm known simply as The Peacekeepers. Part of the move included NYPD officers and detectives working alongside them to teach them the basic ins and outs of how law enforcement field craft.

In 2006 Green Arrow II (Oliver Jonas Queen) retires from active costumed adventuring and enters into local politics when he is elected to the City Council of Starling City and passed the mantle of the Green Arrow to his son Connor Hawke… Hawke is joined by his half-sister Olivia Amelia 'Mia' Dearden who assumes the costumed mantle as the second Speedy. Green Arrow III (Connor Hawke) and Speedy II (Olivia Amelia 'Mia' Dearden) are semi-officially members of both the Justice League of America and the Teen Titans when they are not operating as street-level vigilantes working to clean up the streets of Starling City.

June 2006, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani negotiates an agreement between National Geographic and the Morlocks to create a reality television series that focuses on the every-day life of the various communities underground. The series becomes extremely popular and showcases the various communities that make up the Morlocks.

November 2006 Mid-Term Congressional Elections sees the Democratic Party taking control over both houses of the United States Congress, and sees Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi (D-CA) as the first woman being elected as Speaker of the House.

In early 2007, a group of explorers working for Stark International discovered the frozen remains of Captain America, and brought him to the Triskelion… the headquarters of SHIELD at the request of GEN Nick Fury, who hoped that they would be able to extract the super-soldier formula from his remains… only to discover that his body had entered a state of suspended animation. Once he had been revived he was reeducated on just how much the world had changed so that he could better fit into the modern world. While SHIELD was finally able to replicate the Super-Soldier Formula they chose not to use it since they had what they had been wanting ever since the death of the Centurion, a symbol for the American People to rally around.

And with Captain America, perhaps one of the greatest heroes of the Second World War, back GEN Fury felt that creating a new batch of super-soldiers was just not cost effective. But he and President George W. Bush did decide that they should hold on to the Super-Soldier Formula just in case it was ever needed if a full-scale war ever broke out again.

During 2007, Representative Barnett 'Barney' Frank (D-MA) was able to guide both the Federal Housing Reform Act (H.R. 1427) and the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act (H.R. 3915) to passage in 2007. As the former chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, beginning in 2007, Frank was "at the center of power" and was a vocal critic of aspects of the Federal Reserve system… partnering with some Republicans in opposition to some policies that would later be the cause of the collapse of the so-called "Housing Bubble" a year later.

In June 2007, an Apokoliptian Invasion of Earth occurs centered on Metropolis, MD, USA. A group of normally solo operating meta-humans come together are able to stop the invasion, and they are later convinced by local businessman named Maxwell Lord to come together and found of the Justice League of America. Lord believes in them so much that he donates over half his fortune to create the non-profit foundation that would provide them with the kind of financial independence that they would need to operate as free of any outside influence as possible. This ends up seeing that Maxwell Lord, Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen would provide the initial financial support for the incorporation of the team. It is later learned that during the Apokoliptian Invasion the Freedom League was occupied by both the Crime League and Inter-Gang.

November 2007, the reality television series that showcases the various communities that make up the Morlocks win several awards and are among the most popular of shows in New York City. The sheer volume of requests for tourism travel to the Morlock tunnels prompts former Mayor Giuliani and the Morlock Community Leaders to create a tourism bureau office that handles the requests and keeps the tourists from getting anywhere near the more anti-social Morlock Communities.

2008

In May 2008, the Chitauri Invasion that was centered on New York City occurs while both the Freedom League and newly formed Justice League of America are otherwise occupied, prompting SHIELD Director GEN Nick Fury to assemble the Avengers from a group of meta-human operatives.

Captain America and the rest of the founding member of the Avengers would be officially be based out of the New York City mansion of Tony Stark III… the Owner/President and CEO of Stark Enterprises. The founding members of the Avengers where: Captain America (CPT Steven Grant 'Steve' Rogers, US Army - Retired), Ironman III (Anthony Edward 'Tony' Stark III), Wasp (Janet van Dyne), Thor (Thor Odinson aka "DR Donald Blake MD"), Scarlet Witch (Wanda Magnusdotter Lehnsherr), Quicksilver (Pietro Magnusson Lehnsherr), Black Widow (Natasha Alianovna Romanova), Ms. Marvel (Capt. Carol Susan Jane Danvers, US Air Force - Retired), Hawkeye (Clinton Barton). The Avengers quickly became one of the leading teams of Costumed meta-Humans in the world… rivaling the Justice League of America or even the exploits of the Freedom League in short order, especially interesting since the Avengers were focusing more on national, regional and local threats.

While the Chitauri invasion had initially centered upon New York City, there were several major incursions north of the boarder that prompted the Dominion of Canada to sponsor the creation of a domestic meta-human team of operatives that operate under the administrative umbrella called The Flight. An organization composed of a front-line team (Alpha Flight), a second-line reserve team (Beta Flight), an advanced training team (Gamma Flight), an intermediate training team (Delta Flight), an initial training team (Epsilon Flight) and a covert operations team (Omega Flight).

June 2008, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani hold a ceremony to thank all of the Morlocks whom had helped fight the Chitauri invasion and shelter the citizens of New York alongside SHIELD Agents, the Police and National Guard in support of the Avengers.

In mid-2008, the Inner Circle of the New York Chapter of the Hellfire Club suffered a massive upset when the three courts underwent a major restructuring to counter the unprofitable ventures taken by their predecessors. Sebastian Shaw assumed the title as the White King of the White Court, Maxwell Lord IV is offered the position as the Black King to rule over the Black Court, and Lex Luthor gains the position as the Red King of the Red Court. The new three kings of the Inner Circle of the New York Chapter of the Hellfire Club slowly start rebuilding the shattered organization after the clashes with the X-Men over the past decade. The new Black King attempts to mediate the illegal activities of the New York Inner Circle, and turn the organization into a more benign operation… and is able to stop the attempts by the Hellfire Club to pursue an overt conflict with the X-Men since it would be bad for business.

In November 2008, Barrack Hussein Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States of America, making history as the first American of African descent to be elected President. Along with the election of President Obama, many other Progressive Democrats are elected to office all across the United States. Among them is Oliver Jonas Queen who was able to be elected Mayor of Starling City, and the landslide reelection Mayor Michael O'Conner JR.

2009

Shortly after assuming office in 2009, President Obama used his first 100 days to get the long-proposed Meta-Human Registration Act that would allow the Federal Government to federalize all meta-Humans into government service passed. While the MHRA was struck down by the United States Supreme Court six months later… it has caused a lot of problems for the United States Meta-Human Community, and set many things back to pre-2001 levels due to the backlash of many meta-Humans and government watchdogs against the Act. While the plight of the majority of meta-Human mutants is not as bad as the situation they faced pre-2001, it has been greatly weakened by the backlash created from the entire MHRA fiasco. This has seen the rise of problems for Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning, both places of learning that had publically admitted that they taught young meta-Human Mutants how to responsibly use their amazing talents and powers. So many problems that Headmaster Duncan Summers (formerly the original Raven) was very pleased that he had kept the special nature of the Claremont Academy secret after he founded the school in the aftermath of the Terminus Invasion. Many political observers also point to the Meta-Human Registration Act as one of the turning points with the relations between Mayor Bloomberg and the Morlocks due to Bloomberg's support for the MHRA.

May 2009, due to severe backlash in Freedom City… Mayor Michael O'Connor publically breaks with President Obama over several aspects of the Meta-Human Registration Act, citing evidence from the dark days of the Moore Administration and the utter failure of the Moore Act. Mayor O'Connor and many other major American city Mayors join with various state Governors and Attorney-Generals in opposing the MHRA and taking their opposition to the law straight to the Supreme Court.

July 2009, the ARGUS sponsored trans-dimensional teleportation experiment that is officially known as Project ENTRY, the lead science team leaders are a group of the brightest minds in the Baxter Building Prodigy Think-tank, composed of Reed Nathaniel Richards, Victor von Doom and Susan 'Sue' Storm.

Shortly after the Supreme Court of the United States had struck down the MHRA in late-2009, President Obama used an Executive Order to recreate the former United Nations meta-Human team Stormwatch as a wholly American team, and placed them directly under the control of the Office of the White House. The Weatherman, the man placed in overall command of STORM Watch, became an unofficial member of the Presidential National Security Council and the Cabinet.

October 2009, Mayor Bloomberg extends New York City's term limits that only allows for two consecutive terms so that he can run for re-election. In November of 2010 the City Council reinstated the previous limit of two consecutive four year terms.

November 2009, due to the highly public and vocal opposition to the Meta-Human Registration Act by both the Secretary of SHIELD (SEC <>) and its Executive Director (GEN Nick Fury) and several of the most prominent the members of the Avengers, Obama signs a Presidential Executive Order that severs all official patronage of the Avengers by SHIELD.

In December 2009, GEN Nick Fury creates a training program for young meta-humans under the tutelage of Spiderman so that SHIELD will maintain a team of meta-human operatives that he can rely upon in emergencies when Avengers are unable to respond.

2010

January 2010, the Avengers create their first franchise team… the Avengers West Coast, headquartered at the Avengers Compound just outside of Los Angeles in an effort to provide a team of local meta-human operatives to deal with the rise of costumed meta-human criminals on the West Coast.

April 2010, ARGUS prepares for the initial testing of the N-Zone teleportation platform, known by the cover name 'Project ENTRY' in the middle of the Nevadan Desert. The Design and Construction Command and Control team is composed of DR Reed Nathaniel Richards ScD. EngD. PhD., DR Susan 'Sue' Storm MD PsyD. PharmD. PhD., DR Victor von Doom ScD. PhD. EngD. D.Tech and Jonathan Lowell Spencer 'Johnny' Storm M.Tech B.Sc. BFA., the four would be joined by United States Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Benjamin Jacob 'Ben' Grimm, whom was on leave and used it to visit his childhood friend. A direct act of sabotage, and not Doom entering in new calculations into the system caused the malfunction of the teleportation platform. Exposing the five friends and activating their meta-genes to insure that their bodies would be able to survive. It takes over a month for ARGUS and SHIELD to locate and recover the five men and women. DR Reed Richards' body becomes elastistic and malleable, and earns him the codename Mister Fantastic. Johnny Storm's body is able to transform into a living human torch cable of flight and control of fire. DR Sue Storm develops the power to turn invisible and create invisible force fields. 2d Lt. Ben Grimm becomes a super-strong powerhouse with a rocky hide that makes him virtually indestructible. DR Victor von Doom's alterations are much more subtle… with his mental intelligence and the sheer speed of how fast his mind works, but it came at a price. A fine scar that ran down the left side of his face, starting under his left eye and making what looks to be a lighting bolt scar across his check that ends at his jawline.

In early-May 2010, DR Werner von Doom MD's ever loyal manservant Boris arrives at the Baxter Building to inform DR Victor von Doom that his father was executed by the loathsome dictator whom has been ruling the country since the end of the Second World War. DR Victor von Doom starts working on his plan for his return to his homeland Latveria, and how to deal with the pretenders of the throne whom had been running the country into the ground.

In mid-May 2010, Mayor Bloomberg fires former Mayor Rudy Giuliani form his position as mediator between the City of New York and the Morlocks, which is the start of the escalation of the deterioration of relations between the government of NYC and the Morlocks.

June 2010, after the discovery that the Teleportation Platform had been sabotaged by forces unknown instead of the new calculations that Doom had entered into the controls, ARGUS starts moving the Baxter Building Think-Tank to a new and more secure location. During his recovery, DR Victor von Doom had remained in his workshop working on a private project to build his own personal suit of royal armor that all Princes of Latveria must wear as a symbol of their dedication to their nation.

In July 2010, Ben Grimm is officially promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant and transferred to ARGUS by the United States Air Force.

In August 2010, the Avengers open their second franchise team… the Avengers Gulf Coast, in direct response to the BP Deep Sea Horizon oil spill.

In September 2010, DR Victor von Doom and all of the vehicles, weapons, equipment, gadgets and robots that he had built all disappears in the middle of the night.

In November 2010, the mid-term congressional elections see the Republican Party taking back control over the United States House of Representatives and gaining many seats in the United States Senate.

December 2010, Doctor Doom returns to his ancestral homeland… the Kingdom of Latveria. Within the first forty-eight hours of arriving at the ruins of Castle Doom, he covertly meets with the leaders of the various resistance groups (many of whom spent more time fighting each other than the brutal regime that had committed regicide against the majority of the Doom family). With advise from both his families faithful manservant Boris and the woman he was betrothed too, Doctor Doom is able to use not only his commanding presence and intellect… he was able to get all of the resistance group leaders to swear absolute loyalty to him and him alone. His white cloak trimmed with silver trim and his battlesuit armor in silver and trimmed in gold.

2011

In early-2011, Maxwell Lord III is offered the position as the Black King of the New York Chapter of the Hellfire Club, he informs the Justice League of the offer and that he will be accepting it in an effort to moderate the activities of the secret society and formally cuts his ties with the Justice League while maintaining a method of covertly contacting the team leaders (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman).

In mid-2011, the Freedom League announces their decision to focus more on Global Threats than only on Regional or Local threats citing the existence of both the Justice League of America and the Avengers as evidence that they should be more focused on the threats to all citizens of the Earth.

September 2011, the Avengers create what they believe would be their last franchise… the Avengers Great Lakes to deal with regional threats focusing on the Mid-West and to provide assistance the Canadian national team, The Flight if needed.

Late-2011, Doctor Doom becomes known to the outside world after the completion of his successful campaign to retake the throne of his homeland and assume his family legacy as the new national ruler… forcing the deposed tyrants to flee to the safety provided by any of their allies.

November 2011, Relations between the Morlocks and Mayor Bloomberg continues to rapidly deteriorate as the Mayor increases the NYPD presence in the Alley, reportedly to find criminals that have been fleeing persecution for their crimes. While the community leaders of the Morlocks agree to the presence of NYPD officers coming into the Alley, they require that their own peacekeepers handle the apprehension of any criminals… and maintain that the community leadership must see the evidence that said criminal is actually wanted for criminal infractions.

2012

January 2012, Doctor Doom speaks before the United Nations announcing his ascension to the throne of Latveria… demanding the return of the deposed rulers of his nation whose countless crimes against humanity demanded justice. While the United Nations recognizes the fact that he is the rightful ruler of Laterveria, they refuse to force the deportation of the Fortunov de Sabbat family to the Hague so that they can face charges for their many war crimes.

May 2012, the Justice League discovers the Krolotean infiltration of Earth thanks to the accidental zeta-beam connection with an experimental zeta beam teleporter on the planet Rann that swept DR Adam Strange from Earth to their world.

Mid-July 2012, the Atom Family officially announces that their mother Andrea Atom had survived the Terminus Invasion and had been trapped within the Terminus, and that it had been through the efforts of the Freedom's Avengers had returned her to them. Also part of their official statement is the announcement that their father Prince Mentac of Farside had not survived in an effort to close his estate, since the truth of the matter was something so outside anything legally could be understood.

Early-September 2012, Relations deteriorates to a point that Mayor Michael Bloomberg attempts to force the Morlocks to submit to all of the laws and regulations of New York City, and when the Morlocks refuse to concede he then orders the New York Police Department to evict the "squatters" living in the Alley. This prompts the Police Commissioner to directly refuse to order, by informing the Mayor that there is well over a million meta-human mutants living in the various tunnels connected to the alley. And that any attempt to enforce his decisions upon the Morlocks would not only be futile, but foolhardy and end with pain and suffering. Thus Mayor Bloomberg personally orders the MRD to go into the Alley and apprehend the Morlock Community leaders whom are opposing his edicts. Before the MRD carries out their order, they are stopped by the intervention of the New York Attorney-General and the Office of the Manhattan District Attorney.

Mid-September 2012, a heavily armed group of terrorists carry out a coordinated attack on the US Diplomatic Mission in Bengazi, Libya. The attack leaves US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other American Citizens dead, and leaves two Americans and seven Libyans severely injured. At the same time in the Central Asian Republics, all communications with a covert group of CIA SAG operatives by insurgents and classified as deceased.

Late-October 2012, during the last week of the month Hurricane SANDY makes landfall in the United States at southern New Jersey and works its way northward through Freedom City, Gotham City and New York City doing massive damage that knocks out utilities across three states. Mayor Michael Bloomberg refuses to allow National Guardsmen to go into Brooklyn and other hard hit areas due to the fact they carry guns, he refuses to allow the acceptance of food donations to be distributed to those hard hit by the hurricane due to the inability of the city government to monitor fat & salt levels… not to mention the reluctance to cancel the New York Marathon, and having diverted resources and ordered hotels to turn out those hit by the hurricane so that the rooms reserved for those coming in for the marathon could use them. Only after the public outcry reached its peak did Bloomberg cancel the marathon and devote resources back to assisting those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Due to the measures that were taken during their construction, the Morlock tunnels remain safe and secure… promoting the Morlock community to open their tunnels to those New Yorkers in need of a safe shelter during the storm… and provide them with a means to returning to their own homes without drawing attention from government officials enforcing evacuation orders.

November 2012, Barrack H. Obama (D-IL) is re-elected President of the United States, defeating the Republican Candidate Mitt Romney (R-MA) 51% to 47%.

Late-November 2012, in those areas of New York City that were the hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy suffer through a severe nor'easter that brings in freezing cold to those without electrical power, the Morlock community once more open their tunnels to those hardest hit… providing shelter and security to those in need during the second week of November. The growing frustration over extended electrical power outages in those areas of queens and Staten Island continues to become a major issue.

In mid-December 2012, deposed Latverian ruler Vladimir Vassily Gonereo Tristian Mangegi Fortunov de Sabbat appears at The Hague to be tried for War Crimes. It will come out that Vladimir was captured and smuggled to The Hague by Silver Sable's Wild Pack thanks to the assistance of his grandson Dimitri Fortunov… whom is allowed to return to Latveria by a grateful Doctor Doom whom pardons him and his branch of the family from guilt in the crimes against the Latverian peoples at the hands of the Fortunov de Sabbat family as they ruled the nation since the end of the Second World War.

2013

In mid-2013, Dimitri Fortunov de Sabbat is allowed to regain the title as a Baron of Latveria, and takes his seat in the House of Lords in the Latverian Parliament.

5 November 2013, Bill de Blasio is elected Mayor of New York City becoming the first mayor from the Democrat Party since 1993. Many observers claim this occurs thanks to the policies of Mayor Bloomberg increasingly causing unnecessary strife with their Morlock Neighbors.

2014

1 January 2014, hours after being sworn in as the new Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio has a meeting with the leaders of the Morlock community. Their three hour meeting was held behind closed doors without any media coverage, and ended with former Mayor Giuliani being appointed as the official representative to the Morlock community once more and the Morlocks agreeing to come up with a way to establish a modern means of voting for community leaders instead of their current methods using psychic abilities.

Early-2014, Vladimir Fortunov de Sabbat is found guilty of a laundry list of War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity at The Hague. Vladimir Fortunov de Sabbat will spend the rest of his short life as a prisoner at the <<>>.

November 2014, Michael O'Conner JR is re-elected as Mayor of Freedom City for a second time despite the fact that his popularity had slowly started to wane due to his support for a number of unpopular policies of the Obama Administration. This was one of the reasons that saw the continued change in the make-up of the City Council, and the election of one of the most ardent champions of those in opposition to many of his social policies. The favoritism that the Mayor's Office had shown towards the Freedom League over the Freedom Guard was seen as a minor factor in the change in popularity, but many felt that the fact that the Guard's field leader… the American Patriot, had taken a public stance supporting several of the fiscal policies of the TEA Party… as well as having organizing support networks to benefit returning disabled American veterans, and networks that would provide food and toiletries to those whom really needed the help.

2015

SHIELD ("Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement & Logistics Department")
SHIELD ("Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement & Logistics Department") is the premiere agency that focuses on extraordinary threats that face the United States of America, its allies and the rest of the world. It is the latest in a long line of agencies that goes back to the SSR ("Strategic Scientific Reserve") and EAGLE ("Extra-normal Activities Garrison for Law Enforcement") that existed during the Second World War… and post-War was unified into USHER ("Unified Strategic Headquarters for Emergency Response"), which was the petri dish that saw the rebirth of HYDRA that ended with the covert USHER Civil War and the creation of AEGIS ("American External Government Intervention Service")… sadly AEGIS would become corrupted by the influence of the same kind of paranoia that prompted J. Edgar Hoover to keep major public officials under constant surveillance that prompted several of its leaders to abuse the information illegally attained for less than savory purposes to enrich themselves, the sudden death of the Director of AEGIS was exploited by those leaders who were being blackmailed to dismantle the agency and see it replaced with a new organization that would have safeguards to ensure that such improprieties would not be undertaken again in 1981. When SHIELD was founded, it was initially called the "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division" (after the September 11th Terror Attacks in 2001 and the Terminus invasion a year later, SHIELD would be elevated to an Executive Department after which it officially became the "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Department").

ARGUS ("Advanced Research Group of the United States")
ARGUS was initially formed in the aftermath of the Terminus Invasion in 2003 by a group of private and governmental concerns in an effort to study and adapt recovered technology of those damaged and destroyed weapons, vehicles and equipment left after the invasion was repelled. Their primary think-tank is located in the Baxter Building at Four Freedoms Plaza, New York City. In 2012, ARGUS has been brought under the umbrella of SHIELD after the extremely public failure of Project ENTRY created the Fantastic Four, and evidence proved that the experiment had been sabotaged by Latverian operatives whom were attempting to assassinate DR Victor von Doom… whom disappeared in the weeks after the accident along with all his experiments, only to reappear in Latveria where he would assume control over the various resistance groups to start a concerted effort to liberate his people from tyranny. A campaign that would end nearly a year later with his assuming the throne and crown of the Kingdom of Latveria, and becoming known internationally as Doctor Doom thanks to his feud with the Fantastic Four.

ARMOR ("Altered-Reality Monitoring, Observation & Response")
ARMOR is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD, that has been tasked with monitoring incursions from alternate realities. The specially developed equipment used by ARMOR that detects any reality breaches are located within heavily secured areas of every SHIELD base and facility.

SPEAR ("Special Paranormal Emergencies & Arcane Response")
SPEAR is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD that is tasked with monitoring paranormal and mystical threats and incursions, and much like it’s sister agencies of ARMOR and SWORD, SPEAR has areas of SHIELD facilities that are set aside for their use.

SWORD ("Sentient World Observation & Response Department")
SWORD is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD that is tasked with monitoring incursions from extraterrestrial sources. Much like their sister agency ARMOR, every SHIELD base and facility has secure areas set aside that are dedicated for use by SWORD equipment and personnel.

Project PEGASUS ("Project Potential Energy Group for Alternate Sources of the United States")
Project PEGASUS is a semi-autonomous civilian joint operation between SHIELD, the Department of Defense, the Energy Department, NASA and Stark Industries to develop a new power source… the recent breakthroughs in affordable ARC Reactor technology has saw the long-term project that was seen as money pit by pundits and politicians for decades finally paying off.

Checkmate
Checkmate got its start as a covert agency within the Department of Justice dealing with Costumed Criminal Organizations that were stronger, had greater resources and were better equipped than conventional Law Enforcement Agencies… and AEGIS (and later SHIELD) were barred by law so that they were not allowed to intervene. After the collapse of the original STORM Watch, Checkmate was allowed to expand its operations outside the United States to peruse criminal activities all across the globe with the addition of a UN Monitoring and Observing Council to oversee such operations.

Major Threats

The Voice (real name and identity is unknown) is the head of TOTEM, SPIDER and DISCORD, and it was through a network of middlemen and influence of DISCORD and HAVOC the Voice orchestrated the creation of HAVOC, RAGE and the modern incarnation of GORGON.

DISCORD ("Directorate for the International Spread of Chaos, Opposition, Revolution and Defiance")
DISCORD was formed around the core of former GORGON operatives whom grew dissatisfied with the methods of SPIDER in an effort to create the chaos and black swan events that would cause the citizens of the United States and other first world nations terror so that they would be more willing to sacrifice more and more of their freedoms and personal liberties.

GORGON ("Global Oligarchy for the Regulated Governance of Occupied Nations")
The Original GORGON ("Global Oligarchy for the Regulated Governance of Occupied Nations") organization was created in Central Europe (primarily in Germany, Austria and Italy with several 0chapters that were located in Spain, France and Poland) during the 1920s and 1930s. GORGON would grow throughout the government bureaucratic agencies of the Third Reich, becoming instrumental in the stark professionalism and executing the day-to-day activities that would be necessary to keep the Reich operating effectively despite the constant wartime stresses of the allied bombardment at every conceivable front. This made these administrators and managers just as valuable as scientists and technicians to the victorious allies, and saw many of their number being recruited by the many factions in the post-War era. These GORGON operatives would become instrumental in the development of operations of TOTEM, SPIDER and the formation of groups like DISCORD… as well as the reconstruction of their own organization throughout Europe and the Soviet Bloc and its allies.

GORGON ("Global Organization for Revolutionary Governance and the Opposition to Nationalism")
The modern incarnation of GORGON ("Global Organization for Revolutionary Governance and the Opposition to Nationalism") is an organization that was formed to advance the creation of a single unified global government and the dissolution of the nation states, and the death of nationalism since the members of this organization feels that these things are the cause of all wars and strife in the world.

HADES ("Highly Advanced Directorate for Engineering and Science")
Originally formed as a way to profit from and become the forerunners of the new waves of technology that were sweeping across the world, HADES ("Highly Advanced Directorate for Engineering and Science") has come a long way over the years since its inception. It faced many trials before becoming what it is now: the leading worldwide techno-terrorist organization, a group that dares to explore
all facets of science and technology. Masterminded by the nefarious PLUTO ("Prodigious Life-form for Understanding, Tyranny, and Obliteration") and a myriad of Overseers spread across the planet, the group lurks behind countless corporate facades and false subsidiaries, ignoring the moral compass placed on so many other scientific organizations. HADES pushes the boundaries of scientific discovery daily by delving head on into the darkest reaches of what mankind knows, with the ultimate goal of understanding the universe and achieving total technological domination – regardless of the consequences.

HAVOC ("Hegemony for Advancing Violence and Overwhelming Chaos")
HAVOC was formed around the core of a group of rouge DISCORD, VIPER and HYDRA operatives that were operating in Central Asian Republics alongside the Ten Rings in an effort to destabilize the region by the mechanizations of the Voice playing favors behind the scenes. HAVOC is led by the mysterious al-Rabb (aka "The Lord"), all that is known about this well-spoken African-American man is that he was a former special warfare operator who was left out in the cold when a mission went sideways... leaving This American expatriate who has "Gone Native" and joined the forces that he was fighting.

HYDRA ("Herrschaft Ymirs Durch Radikale Anpassung" or "Ymir's Domination by Radical Adjustment")
HYDRA ("Herrschaft Ymirs Durch Radikale Anpassung" or "Ymir's Domination by Radical Adjustment") is perhaps the oldest and best known organization of terrorists and would-be world conquerors currently active on Earth. Originally organized by the Third Reich top operative whom was known as the Red Skull (Johann Schmidt) as a think-tank to develop highly advanced weapon systems and meta-human
Operatives for the War Effort of the ruling National Socialist Government. HYDRA and the Original GORGON ("Global Oligarchy for the Regulated Governance of Occupied Nations") organization both operated in Germany, while HYDRA was better known and was publically prominent position that drew off any attention that would have been focused on GORGON, who would grow throughout the government bureaucratic agencies of the Third Reich, becoming instrumental in the stark professionalism and executing the day-to-day activities that would be necessary to keep the Reich operating effectively despite the constant wartime stresses of the allied bombardment at every conceivable front… and to carry out all of the worst excesses of the ruling Nazi Regime with the same brutal efficiency. This made these administrators, managers and scientists just as valuable as scientists and technicians to the victorious allies, and saw many of their number being recruited by the many factions in the post-War era. These GORGON operatives would become instrumental in the development of operations of TOTEM, SPIDER and the formation of groups like DISCORD… as well as the reconstruction of their own organization throughout Europe and the Soviet Bloc and its allies. After the Second World War, HYDRA would remain a thorn in the side of the Victorious Allies… more than living up to its motto that two heads would grow to replace every head lost.

League of Shadows
The League of Shadows

Maggia Syndicate (InterGang)
The Maggia is an international crime syndicate that is the world's most powerful organization dedicated to conventional crime (as opposed to subversive activities). Originating in southern Europe, the Maggia spread throughout non-Communist Europe and the Americas. Its presence in the United States first came to public attention in the 1890s, and the Maggia's widespread bootlegging of illegal liquor during the Prohibition Era has become legendary. Today the Maggia controls most of the illegal gambling, loan-sharking, and narcotics trade in the United States, as well as many legal gambling casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Las Vegas, Nevada. It also has great influence within various labor unions, and controls politicians on every level of government. Especially in recent years, the Maggia has invested many of its illegal gains into legitimate businesses. However, the Maggia enforces a strict code of secrecy among its members, and does not hesitate to punish betrayals and failures with death. Often the Maggia marks one of its members for execution by having a Maggioso grasp the intended victim by the chin in the so-called "Maggia touch."

RAGE ("Revolution, Anarchy, Genocide and Entropy")
RAGE was created by the mechanizations of the entity known only as the Voice, who is also responsible for the leadership of both TOTEM and SPIDER… and taking a hand in the creation of several other groups whose purpose is to sow chaos and discord in the world to induce terror and fear into the masses in an effort to allow for TOTEM to step in and take control of the reins of government. Under their leader who is known as the Heretic, whose rhetoric can only be described as parroting many of the same ideals of the Occupy Wall Street movement… and very nearly took control of Gotham City if not for the efforts of the Batman and his allies that are known as the so-called "Gothic Knights."

SHADOW ("Secret Hierarchy of Agents for Domination Over the World")
SHADOW ("Secret Hierarchy of Agents for Domination Over the World") is a vast criminal conspiracy devoted to world-domination, that is controlled by the mysterious Overshadow whose army of fanatically loyal clone troopers who blindly follow his every order and edict without any thought for their own wellbeing.

SPIDER ("Society of Progressive Intellectuals Dedicated to an Enlightened Regime"),
SPIDER ("Society of Progressive Intellectuals Dedicated to an Enlightened Regime") is a multi-generational organization that extends throughout the government bureaucracy of the many agencies within the executive branch and offices on every level of government (federal, state and local) that one can ever imagine in their worst nightmares of immoral uses of governmental power and authority. Their membership includes members or associates whom work on the staffs of the elected political officials of every party, as well as clerks working for federal, state and local judges and even have several operatives working in staff positions of the Justices on the Supreme Court of the United States with an eye towards turning the country from a representative republic into a guided democracy that would be able to control the choices that would be presented to the voters to present the illusion of freewill.

The Ten Rings
The Ten Rings is a terrorist organization that operates throughout the Middle-East (an area of Operations that spans across the region from Central Asia into Northern Africa and Central Africa). Stark Industries' second in command, Obadiah Stane sold them weapons illegally to help them achieve their goals, and later made a deal with them: they would kidnap Stark Industries' CEO Tony Stark, force him to create a Jericho missile and have them kill him, allowing Obadiah to take over the control of Stark Industries. After weeks in captivity, Stark created a suit of armor powered by the new invention of a miniaturized arc reactor, rather than the weapon he was tasked to build, and successfully escaped. Stark subsequently designed and built a far more sophisticated suit after his return to the United States, and attacked various camps of the Ten Rings, destroying the stolen Stark Industries weapons. Days later, the Ten Rings found the rest of the armor Stark used in his desert escape and informed Stane about it. Ten Rings' commander Raza proposed a deal with Obadiah Stane… he would give Stane the armor free of charge only if Stane would supply him with an army of iron soldiers. But Obadiah refused, instead paralyzing Raza and taking the suit. Stane's men then executed the remaining Ten Rings soldiers, leaving Raza to face the Mandarin and take responsibility for the failure of his operation and association with Stane. When the experimental airship that was created by Justin Hammer for the US Army crashed in Congo, a group of soldiers associated with the Ten Rings within the Congolese Army tried to execute the pilot, only to be stopped by the third Iron Man.

TOTEM ("Total Order Through the Enslavement of the Masses")
TOTEM is the oldest and most well organized active secret societies in the United States whose ideas actually inspired the creation of several organizations that were embedded in the Governmental Bureaucratic apparatus of the United States, the United Kingdom and Central Europe.

VIPER ("Vanguard of the International Plenipotentiary of the Eternal Reptile")
VIPER ("Vanguard of the International Plenipotentiary of the Eternal Reptile") is one of the oldest crypto-terrorists organizations on Earth that had greatly been weakened due to the fact they stopped operating publically during the Second World War due to the War Effort… and the actions of other organizations that used the opportunity to cripple and destroy their rivals for world domination. VIPER has never forgotten this, and for the most part has "bought into" the ideology of TOTEM and its various sponsored organizations and groups. The VIPER is also known for having caused the creation of the Serpent Society, a group that for all intents and purposes, is a union for costumed mercenary operatives with a serpent or snake based motif due to issues over the years that caused many freelancers to feel they were being taken advantage of by their various employers… something that was triggered by the manipulations of the mysterious Voice.

The Worthy aka "The Light" aka "Secret Society of Super-Villainy"
The Worthy (or The Light) is a secret conspiracy composed of eleven most notorious criminal masterminds on Earth, thus earning it the name the "Secret Society of Super-Villainy" by the costumed meta-human heroes known as the Justice League of America after the Young Justice team discovered their existence by accident.

Local or Regional Threats

ALPHA ("Association for the Legitimate Preservation of Human Achievement")
The anti-meta-human rights group known as the Association for the Legitimate Preservation of Human Achievement is a much more mainstream group, so much so that they were able to take measures that bars meta-humans from taking part in the majority of the associations that oversees the normal human supports events. The completely unrelated side-effect of this victory provided the drive for the creation of the Meta-Human Extreme Sports Network Leagues that created the market for unique meta-human team sports that are the fastest growing spectator sports through North America and Europe.

Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign
The Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign is the criminal network created by Doctor Sin

Crimenet
Formed by the enigmatic Mister Crime, Crimenet serves as a shadowy, membership-based agency that provides a variety of resources to its villainous clientele. Primarily the organization acts as a temp agency for supervillains, outsourcing their particular abilities to paying customers, and networking members with others. In the past, this has created teams (both temporary and permanent) and has also bolstered organized crime throughout North America and parts of Europe and Asia. Additionally, Crimenet works to provide and protect its clients so long as they maintain the agency's enigmatic nature and pay their membership dues. This aid often comes in the form of legal help or access to other resources such as loans, henchmen and gear that may otherwise be barred to them due to location or reputation.

The Court of Owls
The Court of Owls is a secret society that has centered its membership around the wealthiest and most influential families in both Gotham City & the Township Blüdhaven in New Jersey, and has show very little interest in exerting their influence anywhere else outside of this area.

PURGE ("Project for Unnatural Racial & Genetic Extermination")
Conceived as a fail-safe against the rise of gene-active individuals or Meta-Humans, the Project for Unnatural Racial & Genetic Extermination (or PURGE as it's more commonly known) has since become a rogue organization that targets most meta-humans no matter their allegiance. At its core, P.U.R.G.E. is organized as a paramilitary unit with access to high-tech, military grade equipment that spans from weaponry to vehicles, and includes such technology as advanced robotics and inner-spatial wormhole generation. Recruited from military organizations and mercenary companies, average soldiers within their ranks are hand-picked for their skill in combat and the antipathetic philosophies that they share with the group’s rogue agenda.

Possible Threats

AIM ("Advanced Idea Mechanics")
In its early days, AIM ("Advanced Idea Mechanics") was created by Aldrich Killian & Franklin Stone as a Think Tank to invent new and radical ideas that would be billed as a civilian version of DARPA… and thanks to the influx of grants from various major corporations and several the national governments that included the United States of America. Currently, AIM ("Advanced Idea Mechanics") has become a scientific research and development agency that is still led by Aldrich Killian and is still in part funded in part by grants from both major private enterprises and governments from all around the world. Very few know that AIM has become known for providing criminal underworld and black market with some of the best cutting-edge high-tech weapons and equipment available on the open market, and Killian takes great pains to keep this from becoming known since the reputation of AIM and its many patents held by the think-tank provides billions of dollars in royalties to stockholders and investors.

Code ("Citizens for Order, Decency & Ethics")
CODE is a grass-roots progressive organization that is devoted to civic duty and improvement that is best known for infamously catapulting Franklin Moore into the office as the Mayor of Freedom City. Although CODE wants to improve public safety, its focus tended to be more on perceived immorality and concern over the activities of costumed meta-humans that they saw as being bad role-models for children due to their flashy costumes and highly publicized clashes. And many within CODE feel that to many costumed meta-humans are given too much leeway and trust by the public and the government, and feel that their role should be severely curtailed and eventually replaced by specially trained law enforcement personnel. Despite the Corruption of the Moore Administration and the election of Mayor Michael O'Connor JR, the political power and influence of CODE had been for the most part marginalized.

Morlocks
Not much is really known about the origins of the secretive mutant community that are known as the Morlocks... The Morlocks are almost exclusively meta-human mutants whom have taken over the extensive network of incomplete nuclear war shelters that had been built during the height of the Cold War under the streets of Manhattan that had been abandoned and forgotten not long after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Their leader is a woman who calls herself Callisto, and she is a much an enigma as the community that she leads. She is exceptionally close lipped about herself and her past, especially since she fears that if her past was to become know she would lose her position of authority and leadership of the community. Primarily due to the fact, that she had been an FBI Agent assigned by former Director J. Edgar Hoover to ferret out meta-humans and meta-human mutants out of positions within the United States Government… but after a time she was stunned to learn that she herself was a meta-human mutant and realized that what she was doing was morally bankrupt. Instead of arresting or murdering meta-human mutants that she found, she instead started to help them escape and go into hiding, but she realized that she could not do this forever and started to devise a plan that would create a permanent solution. She used her position to find a suitable place for a growing community of meta-human mutant outcasts could easily disappear and found it in governmental archives. She then set out to destroy any and all references to the system of tunnels and shelters. Unfortunately, her actions started to raise suspicion of her superiors… and they set a trap for her that nearly took her life. Instead it cost her an eye and horribly scared her once beautiful features. Callisto has completely abandoned the life she had led before she created the Morlocks… and many of them do not know that she was their patron who delivered them from their imprisonment in secret facilities all across the country, or that she had been the primary agent responsible for their persecution.

No Gods, No Capes, No Masters is an Atheistic Anarchist-Socialist organization that opposes religious institutions and meta-human rights groups.

Operation Zero Tolerance
Operation Zero Tolerance was the completely black book operation created by the heads of Project Widewake in case a short-sighted presidential administration ever chose to close Wideawake down. Much to their dismay, this occurred in 2002 when then-President George W. Bush learned of the existence of Wideawake. Operation Zero Tolerance was headquartered in the remains of a subterranean cold war base located in the American South West. Operation Zero Tolerance provided the Meta-human Response Division with much of the technology and equipment that was necessary for the program to get under way after the passage of the Meta-Human Registration Act. Only a few political commentators asked where the resources for the creation of the MRD came from, and those investigators whom looked into the matter were always stymied by the sheer magnitude of red tape.

Project Wideawake
Project Wideawake was an illegal government operation operated during the mid-1990s to monitor Meta-Human Mutants, in the aftermath of the 11 September 2001 Terror Attacks and the Terminus Invasion of Freedom City in 2002 proving that indigenous Meta-Human Mutants were not a credible threat… the Presidential Administration of George W. Bush ended the project, and many of the officials associated with it were forced out of the Government.

ASTRO Labs
ASTRO Labs ("Applied Scientific and Technical Research Organization Laboratories") is a new private research organization that has been split off from STAR Labs after the STAR Labs Detroit franchise was ostracized after evidence that their security had been repeatedly breached with the apparent knowledge of someone in their organization. The lawsuit that ended the issue allowed the Detroit facility to retain all their research and patents, and acquire their own outside funding to create their own organization. In the months following this groundbreaking ruling, ASTRO Labs has developed a network of semi-independent private research centers all across North America.

Cadmus Labs
Cadmus Labs began as Project Cadmus as a non-governmental scientific research center located just outside of Washington, DC that was created as a joint venture between governmental and private agencies that has become known for their achievements in genetic engineering and cloning technology. But most especially, with the creation of the various races of Geno-Morphs (G-Troll, G-Goblin, G-Elf, G-Dwarf, G-Gnome, G-Sprite). Cadmus Labs was initially founded by matching funds that were provided by the US Government, the Luthor Corporation, Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises as a block grant thanks to the covert efforts of Lionel Luthor whom wished to come up with a method of countering Centurion if he ever went rogue. The project was named after the mythical Cadmus, and located in specially built facility that maximized the need for secrecy to stay far away from the public eye with the three-story above ground building providing cover for the fifty-two sub-levels where the real work was undertaken. Over the years, Cadmus Labs developed countless genetic experiments that were called Geno-morphs, which they used to both hide their activities and serve as a general purpose workforce. They also created a series of clones that were based upon Superman & Red Arrow.

Xavier Institute of Meta-Human Studies
The foremost expert on Meta-Humans and most outspoken voice for Meta-Human Rights has been Prof. Charles F. Xavier, whose work in understanding Meta-Humans and their abilities (as well as creating curriculum for the training and education of Meta-Humans in how to use their meta-human abilities safely) used this notoriety to create a privately funded foundation for the study of Meta-Humans that would focus more on the education and training of meta-humans instead of ways of countering or repressing meta-humans and their abilities.
Xavier Institute of Higher Learning, Xavier School for Gifted Youth
Meta-Human Research Centre

The Institute of Meta-Human Studies aka "IMHS"
The Institute of Meta-Human Studies all trace their origins in that they were among the many agencies that had been created by the Federal Government in the years before and during the Second World War during the Administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the mid-to-late-1930s to study the growing number of meta-humans all around the world.

CEMA aka "Civil Emergency Management Agency"
CEMA was created in late-2002 as a sister agency of FEMA that organized and coordinated civilian groups in a manner similar to what FEMA does for governmental organizations and agencies. CEMA is a non-profit organization predominately led by volunteers whom work to assist in the clean-up and repair of the devastation left after extraordinary crises and battles all across the United States of America (and to a lesser extent their neighbors the Dominion of Canada to the North and the United Mexican States to the South). The repeated successes and effectiveness of CEMA has caused many other countries to mirror the agency under governmental control and authority.

MRD aka "Meta-Human Response Division"
The Meta-Human Response Division is the only surviving elements of the failed Meta-Human Registration Act. The MRD is a special department that is located within nearly every local law enforcement agency that is funded due to a Federal Block grant that provides for the special training, equipment and resources for dealing with meta-human criminals.

Special Heavy Equipment Rapid Emergency Deployment Team aka "SHRED Team"
SHRED was a controversial part of the failed Meta-Human Registration Act, and was known to be referred to as 'Cape-killer' squads by Director Fury and the majority of SHIELD personnel.

Special Crimes Unit aka "SCU"
The Special Crimes Unit of the Freedom City Police Department (and the later SCU of the Metropolis Police Department) was the predecessor of the MRD that acted as a model for the Meta-Human Response Division program. Due to their existence predating them, many cities still refer to their MRD units as Special Crimes Units.

Special Taskforce for the Observation and Research of Meta-Humans Watch aka "STORM Watch"
The original incarnation of STORM Watch was an experimental United Nations taskforce composed of meta-human operatives form around the world, that was able to draw upon the resources of every member of the United Nations… but when STORM Watch failed to stop multiple global scale threats is was disbanded by the unanimous vote of the UN Security Council. During the Iron Age, Stormwatch was a UN Sanctioned team of meta-human operatives that responded to a wide variety of threats to world peace (or more appropriately… the status quo of the era). One of the lasting legacies of the UN Stormwatch Program was the creation of the Authority, a team of radical meta-human operatives that were based on an old decommissioned helicarrier that had been among those that were originally presented to the United Nations for use by Stormwatch.

Special Taskforce for the Observation and Research of Meta-Humans Watch aka "STORM Watch"
The modern incarnation of STORM Watch is a special taskforce of meta-human operatives that are subordinated directly to the Office of the President of the United States that was formed during the Meta-Human Registration Act, and is the only other remaining aspect of the MHRA that still exists after it was found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States in late-2009.

Elders of the Universe

Guardians of the Universe

The Guardians of the Universe is actually a large body of powerful beings that are divided into seven councils that each leads or oversees the activities of one of the Seven Lantern Corps. The most powerful of these seven corps has been the Green Lantern Corps due to the fact that they are so strongly associated with the Emotional Spectrum color that represents Willpower. Each of these councils have seven members, with their most powerful or influential member holding the position to represent their Corps on the grand council that the entire organization takes their name from… the three Lantern Corps that are associated with the negative emotional spectrum are most often at odds with not only those three Lantern Corps whom are associated with the positive emotional spectrum, but with the Green Lantern Corps whom have acted as an intergalactic lawmen for several millennia.

History of SHIELD and its Predecessors

D

The Late-1930s and Early-1940s

C

The Strategic Scientific Reserve and Extra-normal Activities Garrison for Law Enforcement

Strategic Scientific Reserve aka "SSR":

An organization that attempted to live up to the scientific research ideals of the Strategic Scientific Reserve would continue to exist in one form or another in the background for nearly thirty years, until the creation of ARGUS ("Advanced Research Group of the United States") as a sister agency to SHIELD after the September 11th Attacks in 2001 and the Terminus Invasion of Freedom City in 2002.

Extra-normal Activities Garrison for Law Enforcement aka "EAGLE":

While many remember EAGLE as the national civilian paramilitary counterpart of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, the Extra-normal Activities Garrison for Law Enforcement was much more than just an organization that was used to counter meta-human and super-science threats on the homefront… but was a national law enforcement agency that was established alongside the more well-known and senior Federal Bureau of Investigations. These uniformed national police officers were not seen as G-Men like the dark suited agents hand-picked by J. Edgar Hoover, but more as everymen stepping up to protect their country since they could not serve in the Armed Forces overseas. Composed of men who were classified for whatever reason as being unable to wear the uniform for the United States Armed Forces had an outlet to serve their country in uniform. EAGLE was a startling success working alongside the Mystery Men and early Costumed Meta-Human Adventurers and Heroes that fought against Spies, Saboteurs and Agent Provocateurs trying to disrupt the war effort. The men and women of EAGLE would be combined with the men and women of the SSR to create USHER.

The Late-1940s to Early-1960s

Unified Strategic Headquarters for Emergency Response aka "USHER": The Unified Strategic Headquarters for Emergency Response (aka USHER) was created with the unification of EAGLE and the SSR. USHER became infiltrated by HYDRA operatives thanks to their post-War Recruitment to assist in the Allies efforts during the Cold War, who used the assets and resources of their Hosts for nearly twenty years before their activities had been uncovered and saw the agency shattered by the severe infighting between HYDRA Operatives within their ranks that became known as the USHER Civil War by the few who knew of the shadow conflict. When the fighting finally ended, USHER was officially dismantled and the American External Government Intervention Service (AEGIS) was founded with a mission statement that focused heavily on national security from external threats.

The Early-1960s to Early-1980s

American External Government Intervention Service aka "AEGIS": AEGIS was the Predecessor to SHIELD, and was used as the core of the newly created SHIELD Organization and their sister agencies that are dedicated to the defense of the United States of America, its citizens and the rest of the world. The agency still exists as a distinctive part of the SHIELD structure. Sadly AEGIS would become corrupted by the influence of the same kind of paranoia that prompted J. Edgar Hoover to keep major public officials under constant surveillance that prompted several of its leaders to abuse the information illegally attained for less than savory purposes to enrich themselves, the sudden death of the Director of AEGIS was exploited by those leaders who were being blackmailed to dismantle the agency and see it replaced with a new organization that would have safeguards to ensure that such improprieties would not be undertaken again.

Just as AEGIS was created in the aftermath of the fall of USHER, the core of AEGIS would became the base from which the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcements and Logistics Division that would be built upon by GEN Sam Sawyer whose exploits during the Second World War and trough-out the period after the war protecting the free world during the Cold War. He used his knowledge about the operations and personnel of AEGIS to build a new organization that would keep the world safe from extra-normal threats as well as conventional ones.

The Early-1980s to the Present

The founding of SHIELD (the Early-1980s)

When SHIELD was founded, it was initially called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (after the September 11th Terror Attacks in 2001 and the Terminus invasion a year later, SHIELD would be elevated to an Executive Department after which it officially became the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Department).

The Mid-1990s

d

The Post-9/11 and Terminus Invasion induced Operational Reforms

SHIELD was upgraded from being a mere division when it was elevated to an Executive Branch Department, and <name> was named as the first Secretary of SHIELD, and US Army Major General Nichols Joseph 'Nick' Fury would be promoted to the rank of General and given the position as the Director of SHIELD.

The Avengers Initiative and the Battle of New York

The Avengers Initiative (aka "Phase 1") was a secret project created by S.H.I.E.L.D. to create the Avengers, a team composed of super-powered beings that would respond to any dangerous global threats which are too great to be dealt with on Earth.

The Initiative was scrapped by the World Security Council after the alien incursion in New Mexico in favor of a weapons development program known as Phase 2.

After Loki stole the Tesseract from Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. (and destroyed the base and killed 80 people during the process), Nick Fury decided to revive the project. He called in Captain America to join, and sent Black Widow to recruit DR Robert Bruce Banner MD. DSc. MEng. MTech (aka the Hulk), who was now living in a rural village in India practicing medicine in an attempt to counter a viral outbreak.

After the Avengers were formed, they were not cooperating and failed to prevent Loki's escape from the Helicarrier, causing them to believe that they just were not meant to work together, and were thinking of disbanding the team. It was only Agent Phillip J. Coulson's death that motivated them to overcome their differences and come together fight against the Chitauri invasion in Manhattan.

After their victory in defeating the Chitauri, Nick Fury and Maria Hill agree that it was the correct choice to form the team, and that they will return for any future threat.

Sister Agencies and Associated Organizations under the Umbrella of SHIELD

Advanced Research Group of the United States aka "ARGUS"

ARGUS was initially formed in the aftermath of the Terminus Invasion in 2003 by a group of private and governmental concerns in an effort to study and adapt recovered technology of those damaged and destroyed weapons, vehicles and equipment left after the invasion was repelled. Their primary think-tank is located in the Baxter Building at Four Freedoms Plaza, New York City. In 2012, ARGUS has been brought under the umbrella of SHIELD after the extremely public failure of Project ENTRY created the Fantastic Four, and evidence proved that the experiment had been sabotaged by Latverian operatives whom were attempting to assassinate DR Victor von Doom.

Altered-Reality Monitoring, Observation and Response aka "ARMOR"

ARMOR is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD, that has been tasked with monitoring incursions from alternate realities. The specially developed equipment used by ARMOR that detects any reality breaches are located within heavily secured areas of every SHIELD base and facility.

Special Paranormal Emergencies and Arcane Response aka "SPEAR"

SPEAR is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD that is tasked with monitoring paranormal and mystical threats and incursions, and much like it’s sister agencies of ARMOR and SWORD, SPEAR has areas of SHIELD facilities that are set aside for their use.

Sentient World Observation and Response Department aka "SWORD"

SWORD is a semi-autonomous sister agency of SHIELD that is tasked with monitoring incursions from extraterrestrial sources. Much like their sister agency ARMOR, every SHIELD base and facility has secure areas set aside that are dedicated for use by SWORD equipment and personnel.

Project Potential Energy Group for Alternate Sources of the United States aka Project "PEGASUS"

Project PEGASUS is a semi-autonomous joint operation between SHIELD, the Department of Defense, the Energy Department, NASA and Stark Industries to develop a new power source… the recent breakthroughs in affordable ARC Reactor technology has saw the long-term project that was seen as money pit by pundits and politicians for decades finally paying off.

Director Nick Fury (GEN Nicolas Joseph 'Nick' Fury, US Army - Ret.), Director of SHIELD:

Maria Hill (LTC Maria Hill, US Army - Ret.), SHIELD Chief of Staff: Maria Hill acts a the public 'right hand' for dealing with the day-to-day duties of GEN Nick Fury (Agent Phillip J. Coulson is the actual go-to-man that Fury has used to represent his interests among the costumed meta-human community).

Deputy Director Steadman (Cecil Steadman), Deputy Director of SHIELD for External Operations (XO): External Operations is the primary division of SHIELD since it carries out overt and covert operations all around the globe (and all across the United States and its allies).

Deputy Director Bauil (Ivana Bauil), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Internal Operations (IO): Internal Operations is the Internal Affairs and Inspector-General division of SHIELD and its sister agencies (SWORD, ARMOR, ARGUS, STRIKE, ect.) whose duties are to seek out corruption within SHIELD's ranks.

Deputy Director Waller (DR Amanda Waller PhD.), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Special Projects (SP): DR Amanda Waller PhD. heads up the Special Projects division of SHIELD, her personal strike team is the modern incarnation of the Suicide Squad... which she uses extensively to act as the troubleshooters to carry-out impossible missions that are incredibly important, but with incredible odds that certainly would end in the deaths of the operatives assigned to it... the very definition of a classical Suicide Mission.

Deputy Director <> (), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Logistics & Support Services (LSS): LSS and AS (Administrative Services) are the largest directorates since they employ the majority of SHIELD Personnel since both directorates have such a large network of transports, facilities and service contracts. But it also oversees the network of holding and correctional facilities that are used to hold powerful meta-human criminals and threats. The Cube (gamma), the Big House (low-level meta-humans, gadgeteers and escape threats), the Vault (high-level meta-humans and priority prisoners), the Raft (the prototype facility for designs that were perfected with the construction of the Aquarium), Aquarium (aquatic),

Deputy Director <> (), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Science & Technology (ST): The Science and Technology Directorate

Deputy Director <> (), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Administrative Services (AS): The Administrative Services Directorate

Deputy Director Bruttenholm (Prof. Trevor Bruttenholm PhD.), Deputy Director of SHIELD for Paranormal Research and Defense (PRD): Bruttenholm is the oldest actively serving official in the United States Government whom is not a meta-human or other long lived non-human species whose longevity has been the subject of many rumors in the backrooms of the American Government. The Reality is that Prof. Bruttenholm's efforts at countering Occult threats to the world has had a beneficial side-effect in that his body is aging at a much slower pace that is keeping pace with his foster son known as 'Hellboy' whom is the top operative of the directorate, and the leader of the rapid response squad.

Victoria Hand (Executive Assistant Deputy Director Victoria Louise Hand CPA), SHIELD Executive Agent (PL/pp.):
Victoria was initially an accountant for S.H.I.E.L.D., who was in a relationship with another agent named Isabelle. Victoria was determined to send a letter informing Director Nick Fury how he was mishandling the War on Terror. Isabelle implored Victoria not to send the letter but Victoria did anyways and was transferred immediately to Portland, Oregon. As a result, Isabelle, furious that she did not listen to her, ended their relationship. Despite this, GEN Nick Fury chose to promote Hand to the rank of Executive Assistant Deputy Director and assigned her to work at the Hub as the facility supervisor.

Agent Blake (Special Agent-in-Charge Felix Blake), SHIELD Executive Agent (PL/pp.):

Agent Coulson (Supervisory Special Agent Phillip 'Phil' Coulson), SHIELD Field Agent (PL/pp.):

Agent Stilwell (Supervisory Special Agent Jasper Stilwell), SHIELD Field Agent (PL/pp.):

Agent Woo (Special Agent James 'Jimmy' Woo), SHIELD Field Agent (PL/pp.): Agent Jimmy Woo is one of the longest serving field agents in all of SHIELD, having started his career in the mid-1960s as an FBI Agent working for J. Edgar Hoover dealing with strange happenings that were associated with the Chinese Criminal Mastermind known as the Yellow Claw. Despite his many years of service, Agent Woo not only looks to be in his early-30s… but is also in amazing physical condition of a man in his mid to late-20s. The reasons behind this are classified.

Agent Carter (Special Agent <> '<>' Carter), SHIELD Field Agent (PL/pp.):

G.W. Bridge (George Washington Bridge), SHIELD Executive Agent (PL/pp.):

GEN Sam Lane (GEN Samuel 'Sam' Lane, US Army), US Army General Officer/DOD Liaison to SHIELD & ARGUS (PL/pp.): GEN Lane is the official liaison between the Department of Defense and with SHIELD and all of its sister agencies. GEN Sam Lane is a contemporary of Gen. 'Thunderbolt' Ross, and the two men have a friendly rivalry that extends to their 'game' of disparaging their son-in-laws as which one is the most inept.

Agent Liberty (Benjamin 'Ben' Lockwood),

Notable Former SHIELD Personnel

Punisher (Francis 'Frank' Castiglione aka "Frank Castle"), Former SHIELD Field Agent/Operative ():
Frank Castle was recruited right out of the USMC Force Recon into SHIELD, where he served for nearly a decade, before he met his future wife and retired to become an NYPD patrol officer where he discovered a cabal of corrupt cops that he exposed to internal affairs. As they were about to repay his honesty, Castles young family was killed in the crossfire.

The Directors of SHIELD

d

GEN Sam Sawyer (GEN Samuel 'Happy Sam' Sawyer, US Army - Deceased), the first Director of SHIELD (1981-1993).
GEN Sawyer had the distinction of having served the longest time as the Director of U.S. SHIELD prior to GEN Nick Fury holding the position. Starting with Ronald W. Reagan (R-CA), and ending with George H.W. Bush (R-TX). GEN Sawyer also is known to have provided assistance and advice on several of the men whom would later assume the directorship of U.S. S.H.I.E.L.D. GEN Sawyer was a highly decorated veteran of the Second World War, the Korean War and the war in Vietnam whom died in 2006 from a heart attack building a house for the homeless. In recognition of all his service to his country in and out of uniform, GEN Samuel Sawyer received a State Funeral that in many ways resembled that of his friend President Ronald W. Reagan.

GEN Miles Craven (GEN Jeremiah Miles Craven, US Army - Retired), the second Director of SHIELD (1993-1996).
GEN Jeremiah Miles Craven served as the second director of SHIELD during the presidency of George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton. GEN Craven was seen as a professional military intelligence officer whose dedication to protecting the America was readily apparent to everyone in his life. In 1996 GEN Miles Craven was forced to resign by Pres. William J. Clinton when he expressed dissatisfaction with how the President was acting over several crucial foreign policy decisions and publicly drew attention to what will become known as the "Gorelick Wall" that prevented communication between the various intelligence gathering agents and criminal investigators of the different government agencies. It would be the "Gorelick Wall" that GEN Miles Craven protested against that would directly allow for the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks to be successful.
After his forced retirement, Miles Craven set out to find a way to protect the United States from the threats that he felt the Clinton Administration was ignoring and set out

Lt. General Zeb McCandless (Lt. Gen. Zebulon 'Zeb' McCandless, US Air Force), the third Director of SHIELD (1996-2001).
After having forced the resignation of GEN Miles Craven as the Director of SHIELD, Pres. William J. Clinton toyed with the possibility of actually dismantling SHIELD as part of the so-called 'peace dividend' with the end of the Cold War that he used to justify the extremely deep cutbacks in the United States military and defense spending. Instead, Pres. Clinton cut the SHIELD budget by over 75% and appointed US Air Force Lieutenant General Zebulon 'Zeb' McCandless as director without the advice of GEN Sam Sawyer in 1996. Lt. Gen. Zeb McCandless resigned the day after the terror attacks of 11 September 2001, and nominated GEN Nick Fury as his replacement stating that GEN Fury was vicious enough to protect the American way of life in the kind of world that was on the horizon.

GEN Nick Fury (GEN Nicholas Joseph 'Nick' Fury, US Army), the fourth Director of SHIELD (2001-pres.). GEN Fury is a US Army General Officer whose entire career had originally been served within the United States Special Operations Command. GEN Nick Fury was among the officers whose careers was cultivated by two of the three previous directors of SHIELD. GEN Nick Fury is the adopted grandson of the leader of the Howling Commandos during the Second World War (whom he was named for), Sergeant Major Nicholas Joseph 'Nick' Fury (US Army Ret).

Camp Lehigh was a US Army base located in the state of New Jersey, on the East Coast of the Continental United States that was dedicated to providing a secure base of operations the Strategic Scientific Reserve during the late-1930s and throughout the Second World War and into the 1950s when it was officially decommissioned as an active operational facility, after which it was used as a secure archival storage facility into the late-1970s when then-President Jimmy Carter chose to completely decommission the facilities and ordered the sanitation of the grounds.

But the new President-elect, Ronald Reagan, instead chose to have Camp Lehigh renovated, and prepared the site for use as a backup SHIELD facility since he knew of the historical significance of the birthplace of Captain America. While Camp Lehigh was modernized, every effort was taken to maintain the appearance of a decommissioned Second World War Army base was retained, which allowed the back-up SHIELD Facility to go unnoticed in the grand scheme of things during the earliest days of SHIELD.

Due to this, Camp Lehigh was the perfect facility that was used to help ease Captain America (CPT Steven Grant 'Steve' Rogers, US Army - Ret.) and several other cryonicly preserved personnel from the Second World War to transition into the modern world.

The Beach House

The Beach House is a R&D Facility that studies terrestrial submarine life-forms and technology, and acts as a public meeting place between the two cultures.

The Dodecahedron aka "The Deck"

twelve inter-linked R&D facilities. aka: it's "on Deck" or under development to be deployed when ready (UDDR for short)... or before ready if Fury says it needs to be

Neverland

Neverland is the SHIELD quarantine area for personnel whom have been targeted by hostile forces, instead of being sent into witness relocation they are given a place to live in a secure location that is for all intents and purposes a nearly fully self-contained community that is located underground in an area that is set-up in a manner like a massive movie studio that is similar to the type to that used in the movie The Thurman Show.

The Lodge

The Lodge is a classified SHIELD resort facility that is similar to Camp David that is used as a secure recreation and family retreat to be used by the President of the United States and his family, and as a place that allows for a secure location where a more relaxed atmosphere will allow visiting dignitaries can engage in open discussions. To this end, the Lodge was commissioned as a secure location for the top-secret members of the security council can hold face-to-face meetings.

The Villa

The Villa is quite simply the home of the Director of SHIELD, its classified nature and location is a closely guarded secret to protect the Director of SHIELD at all times.

The Crashpad

The Crashpad is a network of expendable safe-houses located all around the world. Depending on the level of operative that the Crashpad is expected to provide shelter or secure communications back into the SHIELD network, the Crashpad can be equipped with a single use teleportation device that is hardwired to teleport everyone able to fit into the teleportation pod directly to the HUB. Once the teleportation pod has been used, it will self-destruct with the release of Nanites that will consume itself leaving nothing but a ton of slag composed of melted metal, glass and plastics.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is one of the highly classified off-the-books facility that was established by Director Nick Fury in the aftermath of the Battle of New York when the Avengers stopped the invasion of the Chitauri forces, and was one of the facilities that Fury set-up as fallback locations for him and his hand selected operatives after he started to notice irregularities in SHIELD Operations. The Clubhouse is used as the headquarters of both the Secret Avengers and X-Force whom carry out classified covert operations for Director Fury.

Providence

Providence is one of the highly classified off-the-books facility that was established by Director Nick Fury in the aftermath of the Battle of New York when the Avengers stopped the invasion of the Chitauri forces. Providence was one of the facilities that Fury set-up off-the-books as fallback locations for him and his hand selected operatives after he started to notice irregularities in SHIELD Operations.

The Safe House

The Safe House is one of the highly classified off-the-books facility that was established by Director Nick Fury in the aftermath of the Battle of New York when the Avengers stopped the invasion of the Chitauri forces. Providence was one of the facilities that Fury set-up off-the-books as fallback locations for him and his hand selected operatives after he started to notice irregularities in SHIELD Operations.

The Homestead

The Homestead is one of the highly classified off-the-books facility that was established by Director Nick Fury in the aftermath of the Battle of New York when the Avengers stopped the invasion of the Chitauri forces. Providence was one of the facilities that Fury set-up off-the-books as fallback locations for him and his hand selected operatives after he started to notice irregularities in SHIELD Operations.

The Farmhouse

The Farm House is one of the highly classified off-the-books facility that was established by Director Nick Fury in the aftermath of the Battle of New York when the Avengers stopped the invasion of the Chitauri forces. The Farmhouse is a highly classified base that was built during the early years of SHIELD that was officially decommissioned and mothballed at some point… it had been decommissioned for a period that it had been forgotten and was easily deleted from official records by GEN Nick Fury, who had plans for the old facilities that had been built during the later years of the Second World War for the SSR and became a de-facto SHIELD auxiliary headquarters. GEN Fury used access to various resources to covertly modernize the Farmhouse in the aftermath of the Battle of New York, as a possible safe-house for the Avengers if they would need it.

The Bus

The Wagon

SHIELD operated Super Max Prisons, and Penitentiaries

The Cube

With the growing number of Gamma irradiated meta-humans and criminals continued to grow, SHIELD realized that a facility designed to hold and contain gamma irradiated meta-humans was necessary… to this end DR Robert Bruce Banner was tasked with the design of the Cube.

The Big House

The Big House is a containment and correctional facility to hold low-level meta-humans, gadgeters and escape threats whose location is classified,

The Vault

The Vault was the initial containment and corrections facility that was constructed to house meta-human criminals, and it was this facility that pioneered the procedures, techniques and technology that has been used to construct specialized containment and correctional facilities for various types of powerful meta-human criminals. The Vault is still open and used to hold high-level meta-humans and priority prisoners whom possess knowledge that SHIELD deems to hazardous for general measures to contain.

The Raft

The Raft is the prototype facility for the designs that were perfected with the construction of the Aquarium, and is still used for non-powered prisoners that present a major escape risk.

The Aquarium

The Aquarium is a facility to hold aquatic meta-humans, Aquarium was built with the assistance of the Atlanteans),

The Helicarrier Fleet

USS Liberator MCV-01, Liberator-class Block I helicarrier

The Liberator, the first operational Helicarrier, was a joint project undertaken by the best engineering minds in NATO originally as a proof of concept, and used captured HYDRA technology and research to create an allied design to counter the new Soviet Helicarrier that had been unveiled during the mid-1950s and found itself being transferred to USHER to act as their mobile headquarters from which to carry out in theater high-priority operations all around-the-world.

Since the Liberator was a prototype proof-of-concept craft, it quickly started to become such a high maintenance intensive vehicle, it was felt to be too expensive to keep in operation… so it was retired after the construction of its replacement, the Emancipator. The Liberator was given to the Smithsonian Institute and turned into a museum.

USS Emancipator MCV-02, Emancipator-class Block II helicarrier

While the Emancipator was light-years ahead of the Liberator-class, which many saw as a prototype proof-of-concept vessel after the successful operational uses that the Liberator had provided, it too would become a high-maintenance craft that had much more in common with conventional and nuclear-powered naval vessels, and its crew and mission objectives were tailored more towards a naval vessel and assignment. This saw a reduction in the downtimes between operations that almost allowed for the Emancipator to remain in constant operation.

After it became evident that USHER had become infiltrated by HYDRA at all levels, the organization was shattered after what many called the USHER Civil War that had lasted three days all across North America… that quickly became one of the most costly conflicts in history.

USS Protector MCV-03, Emancipator-class Block II helicarrier

G

USS Defender MCV-04, Emancipator-class Block II helicarrier

The USS Defender was built after the costly and embarrassing collapse of USHER, as the new mobile headquarters of American External Government Intervention Service aka "AEGIS", a role it would take until AEGIS was absorbed by the newly created SHEILD. After its retirement from active duty, the Defender was quietly upgraded over the next decade to Block III standards as its older systems were replaced with newer ones so that the Defender could be used as a resource during times of crisis.

Unfortunately, HYDRA was able to steal the Defender shortly after it was upgraded with the advanced camouflage systems that allowed it to appear as invisible from the naked eye, and nearly invisible to most early warning systems, something that pointed towards HYDRA infiltration. Under the flag of HYDRA, the Defender was renamed the <d>.

USS Guardian MCV-05, Emancipator-class Block II AGEIS helicarrier

The USS Guardian was built to act as the relief vessel for the Defender as the mobile headquarters for AEGIS, after the absorption of AEGIS by SHIELD, the Guardian was retired and over the next decade its systems were upgraded to Block III standards.

After the theft of the USS Defender by HYDRA, the Guardian was fully upgraded to Block III standards an commissioned for use in hunting down its sister vessel… a duty that would end with its destruction when it was lured into a trap orchestrated by both HYDRA and SHADOW, using captured and refurbished Soviet-era helicarriers that had been acquired by both organizations. The intense combat saw the destruction of the Guardian, but also saw the apparent destruction of the Defender (renamed the <> by HYDRA) and two of six of the Soviet built helicarriers.

Due to the fact that the battle was outside of the United States, over a small island chain in the South Pacific the recovery and salvage efforts that the United States and Russian Federation wanted was instead denied by the local governments. The recovery of the technology and systems of these severely damaged and destroyed helicarriers saw the technology spreading and other nations were able to start fielding their own Helicarriers, something that would lead to the new Guardian-class Block V and Block VI helicarriers during the turn of the century.

USS Redeemer MCV-06, Redeemer-class Block III SHIELD helicarrier

The USS Redeemer was the first purpose built Helicarrier for use by SHEILD during the early-to-mid 1980s, replacing both the AEGIS USS Defender and USS Guardian since the two aging Helicarrier were starting to show their age since the technology that they were constructed with was quickly becoming outpaced by the Soviet Helicarrier fleet. The Defender and Guardian were retired from service as SHIELD assets, but were quickly modernized by the United States to bring them up to Block III standards and placed into long-term storage for use during times of crisis.

USS Liberator II MCV-07, Redeemer-class Block IV SHIELD helicarrier

The second Liberator was built to act as the relief ship for the Redeemer, and it would quickly become the flagship of the SHIELD Executive Deputy Director.

USS Emancipator II MCV-07, Guardian-class Block V SHIELD helicarrier

While the second Emancipator had been started after the construction of the Guardian, it was commissioned first as the newest Helicarrier… the Block V Helicarrier was the cutting edge at the time of its commission. But after the nine month delay in its completion, the Guardian was classified as a Block VI Helicarrier and possessed the most cutting edge and groundbreaking technologies (and thus retaining the position as the lead ship of its class), The Emancipator II is one of the newest generation of helicarriers, and for nearly a year existed as the most technological wonder employed by SHIELD.

USS Guardian II (MCV-08), Guardian-class Block VI SHIELD Helicarrier

The second Guardian was to be the lead ship in its class, many new experimental cutting edge technologies were pioneered to overcome the perceived weakness of the designs with the appearance of new helicarriers thanks to the recovery efforts of the vessels destroyed during historic battle between the USS Guardian and its sister ship under the control of HYDRA and six Soviet-era Helicarriers. The systems built for the Guardian-class helicarriers were enhanced by the efforts of Stark Industries (whom still remains as one of the biggest contractors employed by the US Government and SHIELD) and Stark Enterprises. The Guardian II joined the SHIELD Helicarrier Fleet, and quickly became the new mobile headquarters of Director Fury.

Due to the fact that the construction of the Guardian-class helicarriers took nearly six years more than had been felt necessary due to budgetary reasons, and for this reason the Guardian II and Emancipator II are rarely placed in to positions where they could be overwhelmed or severely damaged by Director Fury… whom knows that getting replacements would be very unlikely during the current budgetary crisis in the United States of America.

To showcase the reasons why the Guardian-class deserves the investment of American Taxpayer dollars, GEN Fury and SEC <> have both approved of cruises and tours of the two vessels by elected officials and their families… it is felt that it is only a matter of time before average citizens might be given the ability to tour the vessels.

3.) Fortress of Solitude: During Superman's career he has maintained his own private sanctuary hidden in Antarctica that is commonly referred by everyone (including himself) as the Fortress of Solitude. Many years ago, Superman placed himself into a self-imposed exile from the planet Earth. During this journey, he met an aging alien known only as the Cleric. The Cleric recognized Superman as the Last Son of Krypton and gave him an ancient Kryptonian artifact known as the Eradicator. The Eradicator represented the sum total of all Kryptonian knowledge, lore and culture. Superman brought the device back to Earth, but when it began behaving strangely, he buried it deep down in a fissure in Antarctica. The Eradicator was still active however, and it opened up a dimensional portal and extracted various resources that it used in an effort to recreate Krypton on Earth. This also included the creation of robotic servants, patterned after the maintenance droids that once serviced the House of El on Krypton.

There is an unofficial eighth Guardian, the Guardian of the Black Lantern Corps... this Guardian leads a group of renegade Guardians whom are dedicated to a book of little known prophecies that had been made by the Maltusian scientist Krona, whose forbidden research into the creation caused the actions that saw the physical embodiment of the various elements of the emotional spectrum, prior to his exile. Krona had written The Book of the Black during his incarceration while being tried for his crimes. The Book of the Black held all of the things he had learned about creation and how darkness (the Black) had existed before the Light... and that it would one day rise up and fight against all creation to reclaim the universe.

But what the Guardians who created the Black Lantern Corps did not realize, was that Krona had predicted that while the Black would rise to try and destroy the Light, they would always be defeated by the combined power of the entire Emotional Spectrum... and while the Maltusian people would become the self-appointed Guardians of the Universe to atone for the sin committed by Krona, but what following generations did not know was that his experiments had created physical manifestations of the emotional spectrum was his own way of atoning for the sin of creating a device that had allowed him to view the creation of the Universe. Krona refused to tell anyone what had created the universe… or even record what he had seen.

But he wrote a second accord during the time he was being tried that explained WHY he had done what he did… and what he had hoped to discover, and this was the Book of the White. During his last impassioned pleas for leniency he shared with the Judges this text that would spawn the creation of a secret society among the leaders of the Maltusian peoples whom had shaped them into the Guardians of today… and the membership of this secret society has been inherited since the creation of the Seven Guardian Councils. The Guardians of the White Lantern Corps have only produced Power Batteries and Power Rings that they have stockpiled for the prophesied Blackest Night incident.

Krona himself urged the Maltusian judges and government to use him as the bogyman that would spurn their people into action that would transform their culture into what has become the Guardians of the Universe. Krona was publically exiled to the event horizon at the end of time, but what was not revealed to anyone… was the fact that his exile was so he could continue his studies into how to combat the Black and predict when the Blackest Night would occur.

Due to the failed attempt by the Maltusians to use androids as a means to bring order back to the Universe, only three generations of their people had wielded the awesome powers of a Lantern Power Ring... until several centuries ago when the scion of the founding family of the Guardians of the Indigo had been able to qualify for a ring to choose her as a viable candidate. Her three centuries as an Indigo Lantern was one of the reasons she had inherited the position as the Guardian of the Indigo Corps when her parent passed away almost three decades ago.

The Oan Culture is divided into three castes; the first is the Guardians whom are the leaders of not only the Seven Lantern Corps… but that of the Oan society and culture as a whole. The second Caste is the <> whom act as the bureaucrats whom handle the day-to-day duties of government and logistics for each of the officially recognized Seven Lantern Corps organizations. The third caste are those whom have retained the name and identity of the Maltusian people, and whom are nothing more than average citizens whom have not taken an active role in the operations of the Seven Lantern Corps. The Oan Caste system for the most part can be very fluidic, and movement from one caste to another is for the most part easy… But the movement into the Guardian caste has for the most part been quite static.

While the Seven Lantern Corps have been known to express severe inter-service rivalry and violence against one another, any overt violence is barred from occurring on Oa itself… the home of the Guardians of the Universe, and birthplace of each of the Seven Official Corps (the Guardians of the Black & Black Lantern Corps were born on the planet Ryut, and the Guardians of the White & White Lantern Corps were created on the planet Maltus). Even with these restrictions on their conduct, the bitter rivalries that exist between members of several of the Lantern Corps has always been quite obvious.

Red Lantern Corps

Red Lantern Corps Oath: "With blood and rage of crimson red, ripped from a corpse of freshly dead, together with our hellish hate, we will burn you all… for that is your fate!"
Guardian of the Red Lantern Corps: The Red Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Anger/Rage.
The Guardians of the Red.
The Red Lantern Corps is

Orange Lantern Corps

Orange Lantern Corps Oath: "This power is mine, this is my light. Be it in the bright of day, or the black of night. I lay claim to all that falls within my sight, to take what I want… for that is my right!"
Guardian of the Orange Lantern Corps: The Orange Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Greed.
The Guardians of the Orange.
The Orange Lantern Corps is perhaps the smallest of the official Seven Lantern Corps, mainly due to the fact that the influence of the orange emotional spectrum light… that of greed. The Ring Bearers just do not wish to share the power of the Orange Lantern Corps Central Power Battery (which like all of the various power sources is ironically unlimited).

Yellow Lantern Corps

The Yellow Lantern Corps is the second most well-known and public of the Seven Lantern Corps, but unlike the Green Lantern Corps… The Yellow Lantern Corps are associated with inspiring Fear. The official goal of the Yellow Lantern Corps (like all of the Seven Official Corps) is to establish Order in the Universe… but their goals are very much different than those of their brother and sister corps. The Yellow Lantern Corps is seen as the most authoritarian and relentless of the Seven Corps…

Yellow Lantern Corps Oath: "In blackest day, in brightest night, beware your fears made into light. Let those who try to stop what's right. Burn like my power… Yellow Lantern's might!"
Guardian of the Yellow Lantern Corps: The Yellow Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Fear.
The Guardians of the Yellow.

Green Lantern Corps

The Green Lantern Corps is the most well-known and public of the Seven Lantern Corps due to their existence as intergalactic lawmen.

Green Lantern Corps Oath: "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power… Green Lantern's Light!"
Guardian of the Green Lantern Corps: The Green Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Willpower. The Guardians of the Green had been formed by the Chief Judge whom presided over the trial of Krona, thus the Guardians of the Green had further cemented their position of leadership of the Guardians… even if the power of the Green Light had not proven itself to be the strongest and most stable of the emotional spectrum.
The Guardians of the Green.

Blue Lantern Corps

Blue Lantern Corps Oath: "In fearful day, in raging night, with strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, look to the stars… for there hope burns bright!"
Guardian of the Blue Lantern Corps: The Blue Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Hope. And while their numbers are small, the Blue Lantern Corps has harnessed the strongest and most powerful emotion within the spectrum.
The Guardians of the Blue.

Indigo Lantern Corps

The current seven Guardians of the Indigo are led by one of the most mysterious women on Oa, whom had violated longstanding Oan conventions and had wielded an Indigo Lantern Ring for several centuries. Until she had chosen to pursue a career as a Indigo Lantern, no other Oan had actually chosen to wield a Power Ring since the first generation of their founding that had saw the failed Manhunter experiment. But her example has seen others of the lower castes of Oan Society to chosen to attempt to qualify for a position that will allow them to use a Power Ring as a member of one of the Seven Lantern Corps.
The Indigo Lantern Corps is perhaps the most reserved and private of Lantern Corps… since they focus heavily on operating away from the public eye since the Indigo Lanterns prefer to provide compassionate assistance to those in need, be it on a personal or greater level.

Indigo Lantern Corps Oath: "Through peace alone our corps takes flight, to show each world compassions light. We shan't spill blood upon the floor, for we protect through peace as the Indigo Corps."
Guardian of the Indigo Lantern Corps: The Indigo Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Compassion.
The Guardians of the Indigo are perhaps the most mysterious of the Seven Councils… they play things extremely close and the activities of the Indigo Lantern Corps have occurred well away from the public eye.

Violet Lantern Corps

The Violet Lantern Corps

Violet Lantern Corps Oath: "For hearts long lost and full of fright, for those alone in Blackest Night. Accept our ring and join our fight… Love conquers all with violet light!"
Guardian of the Violet Lantern Corps: The Violet Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the emotional spectrum the represents Love.
The Guardians of the Violet were founded by the only female Judge that had tried Krona, and thus had been greatly influenced by her choices in the initial seven Guardians whom founded the Council that would oversee the Violet Lantern Corps... while many believe that the reason that the Violet Lantern Corps has been a female dominated organization when compared to the other Lantern Corps since its creation, this is not entirely the case. The Guardians of the Violet are currently composed of seven women whom have been known for not only their dedication to the ideals of the Guardians of the Violet, but for their physical capabilities and dedication to martial knowledge, something that has been increasingly uncommon among the Oan culture.

White Lantern Corps

D

White Lantern Corps Oath: "!"

Guardian of the White Lantern Corps: The White Lantern Corps is associated with the presence of all the colors of the emotional spectrum and thus represents Life.
The Guardians of the White consists of the head of each of the seven families that are descended from the Seven Judges whom had tried Krona for his illegal experiments and studies and shaped the change of the Maltusian culture into its current incarnation. As one of the seven dies, they are replaced by a member of their family whom had been groomed for their position… and each of the seven families have always been associated with one of the seven councils that their ancestor had founded.

Black Lantern Corps

The Black Lantern Corps is small organization that is seen as a cross between a terrorist organization and death cult by each of the Seven Lantern Corps... and is the one threat that will cause even the most bitter of rivaling Lantern Corps to work together.

Black Lantern Corps Oath: "The Blackest Night falls from the skies, the darkness grows as all light dies. We crave your hearts and your demise, by my black hand… the dead shall rise!"
Guardian of the Black Lantern Corps: The Black Lantern Corps has been associated with the color of the absence of Light and thus represents Death. While the Guardians of the Black is an unofficial and illegal organization, they have retained the same organization used by the seven official Guardian councils… and they maintain a council that is composed of seven renegade Guardians that is always headed by their most powerful and ruthless member. And for almost the entirety of their existence, this has been a member of the family descended from the lab assistant who had been tried alongside Krona… but had been spared the same fate. This ancestor had taken the Book of the Black from their prison cell and disappeared into the populace. And over time his descendants had created a cult that saw the Black as being the most worthy of reverence. The first seven Guardians of the Black had all served on one of the Seven Councils and had slowly been swayed one by one to the mindset of the Cult of the Black. They each learned not only how to create the individual Power Batteries and Power Rings that would be needed by each individual Lantern they planned on creating… But they were able to devote resources to finding a means to create the all-important Central Power Battery that would provide power for their organization.

The Manhunters

The Manhunters were the first attempt undertaken by the Guardians of the Universe to create an interstellar police force that would combat evil all over the galaxy. Their name and much of their code of behavior was originally modeled by the Guardians of the Universe on the Manhunters of Ma'aleca'andra (Mars). For thousands of years, they served the Guardians well. However, the Manhunters became obsessed with the act of 'hunting' criminals. Their code, "No Man Escapes The Manhunters", became more important to them than seeing justice done. Eventually, the robots conspired to rebel against their masters, but the Guardians defeated and destroyed most of them. Those that survived hid away on many planets, slowly rebuilding their forces and spreading their beliefs to others. Since then, the over-riding goal of the Manhunters has been to take revenge on the Guardians, as well as on their replacements, the Seven Lantern Corps (but most especially the Green Lantern Corps).

The Manhunters infiltrated and liberated many planets disguised as living beings and created a "Cult of the Manhunters" that trained others to be their minions. On Mars, the people of that world started a group of Martian Manhunters based on the lessons of preserving justice taught unto them by the Manhunters and even erected a temple based on the appearance of their inspiration. On Earth, most of the Manhunters' agents were unaware that their masters were robots, or that their real purposes were not noble. Some of these agents became superheroes also known as Manhunters. They wore red-and-blue costumes patterned after the Manhunters themselves. The most famous of these was a big game hunter called Paul Kirk. He was active in the 1940s. He was brought back after he was supposedly killed years before, but was, in truth, placed in suspended animation by a secret conspiracy. He was cloned, and when he finally reawoke, he dedicated himself to battle those who had used him, eventually dying in the process. However, some of his clones survived.
