A college degree is required for employment?

Is it true that you can't work a job making more than minimum wage if you don't have a bachelors degree from a university?

Employers are now raising the bar to a masters degree. Apparently you have to have a fancy and costly education if you are to work as a secretary or push a mail cart in an office building.

Employers are also considering what kind of school you went to. They will hire a Harvard graduate over someone who went to a state college.

If you don't have a bachelors degree you mind as well work at McDonalds, sweeping floors, or washing dishes at some restaurant. Businesses and employers are even turning down people at those positions if they don't have a BA.

A BA is the pre-requisite to ANY decent living. And years from now the bachelors degree will be replaced by a masters degree. No BA = you're either out on the streets or back home with mom and dad!

Again, another BS thread, Mikey.

You claim to have an IQ of 89. That's somewhere between an elementary school graduate, and a semi-skilled worker. It's a point below a capable factory worker.

So, attempting to explain it to you would be a waste of time. You should probably just assume he's right.

Job markets are so competitive, a bachelors degree only slightly increases your chances of getting a job. A masters degree is the new bachelors, and then soon the bare minimum expected from employers will be a PhD.

There are too many people in our society with college degrees, therefore it's value is diluted. Also, there are an extremely limited number of jobs in our current economy.

A college degree is nothing more than a litmus test for employers, and a tool to reduce the number of job applicants.

Face it Mikey, you don't want a job. You've got all the excuses. Quit before you start. Better yet, don't even try.

The position I currently hold listed BA degree as a requirement. I didn't have one when I applied and still got the job, all the benefits and pay.

Guess it depends. But I do see "Degree from a University" listed on the expectations of many employers.

associates of science in Nursing....2 year degree and you can walk into just about any medical facility you want and nab a 50k+ a year job. But the school isn't easy, gotta learn science and shit.

Does it depend on what kind of university you went to?

How much do you make with your job? What do you do?

When I start classes at a community college in January, I'm thinking about getting a part-time job stocking shelves at my local grocery store.

The only barrier between me and real work is education and transportation.

My position is an executive chef level position. I'm in the culinary arts field.

I'm 22, without a degree and make about 2500 a month. On top of that I have full medical, dental, and vision benefits and paid vacation and sick days. I'm content.

Maybe I should buy a college...maybe a university. That sounds more impressive.

Not the buildings..........and the grounds.......

Urban real estate is so yesterday. Farm ground is through the roof. I just need a mini storage and a big ass server in a small town near a Starbucks.

Well, he did say in another thread he plans to get A+ certified. Hopefully, he will go through with it. It will give him some confidence if he gets out there.
