in the interests of sparking some healthy debate, I wanted to see what people thought of these questions:

Is CHYOO a site for like minded writers to share ideas and play with words, or is it little more than the thinking (wo)man's porn?

Also, while porn is frowned upon by some parts of society (for instance, hardcore christians, feminists), is CHYOO more socially acceptable?

Answers from Jake

I think Chyoo can be what you want it to be. If you just want to write hardcore porn, my normal preference, it is great. If you want to try to actually write, well you can do that to. It just might be tough to find anyone to add to the story. I think you can direct the story anyway you want it to go, you as the editor, have control.

Chyoo is not going to be accepted to any greater extent than any other type of porn. Most people just don't get it and never will. They don't allow for any interpretation of the world any different than there own.

For your first question, I agree with jakelyon, I don't think the two ideas are mutually exclusive. The site is both in my opinion. One of the great things about Chyoo is that the stories can take a turn for the perverse or they can walk a more literary path. Having the option to choose how a story goes opens things up to all sorts of different ideas and views.

I don't think Chyoo is any more acceptable than other forms of erotica (especially from some of the threads I've read:devil: :)

Jakelyon makes a good point though, the more you try to write a story and have plots and character development, the less threads from others you tend to get. I have gotten way more contributions to my pornfest "Venus Rising" than I have had to either "Love Under GrAY Skies" or "Big Bang Theory" It's easier for people to write if they don't have to worry about a style or theme. I'm guilty of doing it myself. If I read a great story where someone has created a very detailed world, I may want to write for it, but making sure of all the little details can sometimes be tedious. I think that is why Chyoo will probably remain a porno-type site.
