Well today there have been two changes. One is a Thunderstorm just rolled in so the humidity just went through the roof. The other kind of negates that problem though. Our electricity was just turned on about an hour ago. (Yahoooooooooo)

I'm of two minds about the electricity being turned on. (Yeah I know, I'm nuts.) On the one hand it's great. We have lights that don't have to be refilled every other day and we have hot water. (Cold Showers just don't cut it first thing in the morning, I hate looking like a bearded woman. :p ) On the other hand it means things are returning to something like normalcy. My wife is once again watching her soaps, the neighbors will stop coming out in the evenings, and we will once again become an insular society here. What the hell my wife is actually wearing more than her after storm norm of shorts and a bikini top.

Electicity is good, look what it did for Frankensteins monster. :rose:

yeah for SeaCat and power!!!!! Now to keep the beer cold and the wife in the hot shower!!!

YEAH LIGHTS......... :nana: :nana:

When the lights came on here after a week, i can remember the cheers and happy dances.... but a little later, when the TV is back on and everyone is again locked inside.... you miss the conversations by candle light, the friendship of adversity, cooking over and open fire, tastes better somehow, or you're hungrier....

But not the mosquitoes, the heat and humidity, yes, cold showers or in our case with no water pressure, cold sponge bathes on the sun deck... although some of the visuals were outstanding... hot sweaty sleep when the wind died, but that's another reason for another sponge bath which could turn to loving on the deck chair...

Mixed emotions here on having power or not having power...

Man do I understand that.

From the sounds emanating from the bathroom, I think my wife just had an orgasm when she stepped into the shower with nice hot water.

way back in 85 when Gloria hit CT, we didnt have power for 2weeks. this meant showers by the hose cuz...we lived at the bottom of a hill right at the edge of the atlantic and the sump required a grinder. so... no flushing potty, no shower, no cooking for two weeks and shovelling sand from the walk was...different for sure...

sorry went on a rant...

what i meant to say is: we all gathered together in time of crisis because we didnt have the comforts of everyday life. it was a single bond we all shared. everything went back to the way it was the moment electricity was restored. i did enjoy those times, as bizarre as that sounds...

Just take the television the fuck out to the barn. I stopped going to visit my father because he would never shut the tube off, and I would go there, sit mutely through Matlock or whatever, and then talk to them only through the commercials. Finally I said fuck that. Life's too short.

So my mother watched him die solo, largely, even though I lived five blocks away. The tube is a killer of human interaction. No one can do conversation any more, they have all forgotten the art.

All right grandmaw, I completely understand. (Says grandpaw as he stands leaning against the wall smoking his cigar. Went through Bob on Cape, too many Nor'easters to count.)

Isn't it amazing how people who pull together when they need to vanish back inside when the juice is turned back on?

My dad is just like that, he is 77 and during family functions will go inside and turn on the tv so he can watch his games. He doesnt walk well from the MS and will sit all day infront of the tube to bitch at my mom when she gets home from work because stuff needs to get done around the house! I love my dad but over the last few years I have lost alot of what I had for him due to his behaviour to my mom, even though she can be a bitch in her own right!

Maybe talk it over with the neighbours and have one night a week you can play cards or just take turns once a week visiting in each others back yards.

sometimes no lights can be a good thing , I remember one Christmas eve, right in the middle of the snoopy special our lights went out. The kids were so bummed. but i lit a candle and we huddled together on the floor reading the christmas story. The kids were so happy about it all , that when they came back on near the end of the story , my 4 year old daughter rushed to turn everything, including the TV off , and told me keep reading. Sometimes the electric makes us forget the good stuff. But I'm happy for ya Cat, you had the good times (who wouldn't want a wife in bikini top and shorts) now ya get it back . :nana:
