Hey all! I'm gnu. *chuckles*

At any rate, I looked around, and decided that this was the best place to post this. I'm thinking of starting an adult RP thread, but hear me out, there is a goal in mind, here.

I don't know how many of you consider yourselves to be 'gamers' in the traditional pencil and paper RPG sense, but I suppose I'd be talking to that crowd, as well as any author that can write interactively with a group of other people - because they are pretty much the same thing. In modern nights, there is a sore lack of quality roleplaying that lasts longer than a few weeks, and that outlives the 'flavor of the month' effect so to speak. I'm not going to change that, but at the very least, I can sniff around and see if there are any veterans out there that are up for their own slice of relief.

Now, even though this is Literotica, one of the greater goals is to not have the story dissolve into 4 pages of sucking and fucking, and then cease to be after everyone has had 'theirs.' It'd be a real RPG for people to enjoy, that enjoy the genera set forth by it's participants, for it's participants. It'd be a true 'freeform' RPG that allows every player the ability to contribute to the story (if they want to), without the burden and legalizm of character sheets and what not. If certain people want to step up and take the reins as GM, let them. If they get a little burned out, someone else can step up and breathe new life into a storyline that some might find is getting dull.

It's really not that hard - I'm really not even putting out any original ideas here - just the same principles that roleplayers (beit gamers or otherwise) would love to see but 'never' find.

So what do we say?

My Ideas to Date
  • Furry
  • Sci-Fi, either post-modern or far future

Note: These are just what I could get into right now. The plan is to get enough people interested so we can have a consensus on what goes, and then stick to that, so everyone participating has no questions or qualms about the storyline, setting, etc. But...I'm all about furries - I will push furries. ^^

So, does anyone else think that this would be cool? Or am I knocking on a brick wall? If so...where's the door?

Memories . . .

Oh, man . . .

Saturday afternoons playing AD&D in my garage with my friends . . . slaying wizards and dragons and demons from the Outer Planes . . . fast forward to D&D 3E, Return To The Temple Of Elemental Evil . . . I died once.

Hold on, let me see if i can dig out my +3 Vorpal Sword of Wounding from the closet . . . .

I thought there was a seperate board better suited for stuff like this...******* Role Playing....

Well, you could be right as to there being a better board, Dark, this being my third pose in my stint here. Rather than start a game, though, I'm really just fielding opinions and support for the aforementioned concept - if there isn't going to be a market for it, I don't want to turn my oars for nothing. I'll be more than happy to transplant this thread if necessary, and if it means that my thoughts will be reaching the ears of those I am trying to appeal to. But, right now, it is just one author, talking amongst others, about a writing experience he would like to invest in. ;) And the Author's Hangout seemed like the best place to do the same in.

To the general ear, and in light of more thought, giving a concept too much freedom can be as bad as too little - so let's work from the ground up. I'd be most interested in a post modern, Sci-fi storyline. What would make this more unique than others? What would I want to avoid? What elements would create a compelling setting in which the main protagonists responsable for advancing the plot could impact and change the world around them, though also be challenged, and perhaps even threatened, by the same world around them?

I'm not the newest creature to Sci-fi writing, though I do have to admit, my exposure is nothing representative of someone that is well rounded in the subject. Even so, I would say that I enjoy Sci-fi for it's ability to be frighteningly believable - when done right - and that's what I would want to go for in this prospective project.

Advice in always welcome, and if you're more interested than guiding a younger writer along, let me know. ;) Thanks.

Purple, if you want to drop me a PM I may be able to help on the RP front. I have done a lot of it, still run a few games here ad there, and have some ongoing (as in years now) games that are still morphing in terrifying ways.

Are you thinking something along the lines of a Shadowrun setting? Because if so, I may be able to round you up a gamer or three.

:D PM shot to you, Storm.

I've been thinking a lot on what I want the story to play like, and while I have alot of good ideas (I think), and experiences to build off of, I'm caught between opting for a twist on an exsisting world, or a unique one. Plus, if you know anyone who might be up for a Co-GM sort of role, now would be the opportune time to look. This'll need to be at least somewhat self-sustaining eventually, as I'm active duty US military. ;) I will disappear, though it'll never be forever. I appreciate the help.
