Which ones are Jewish?
I think that second to last frame might be Jewish? I don't know. I was doing a google search in images for something, but I saw this blog and forgot what I was orginally looking for.

You're such a sweet guy, yknow?

Here I am snarking at what is obviously a fascinating illustration. And maybe we can do some illustrated poems here. We haven't for quite a while and we two could get it going. I bet Evie has some illustrated poems tucked away.

Otoh, the only Jews are getting wiped out by Nazis, damnit. They couldn't put Einstein in there? Yes, I'm snarking again. It's how I express love. :D

Jamison, do you know who made those illustrations?

I also protest, though fascinating, there are no little green men....

maybe I didn't look closely enough.

:) I didn't know you were being snarky.

Originally, I was going to post this an illustarted poetry thread. I tried looking for one, but I couldn't locate them. I went back several pages and didn't see any. So in the end, I created a new one.

I think a illustrated challenge would be interesting. Maybe someone take a scene or frame and write something?

I can see why. That's stunning.

Yeah, the Holocaust is the second to last panel - well and the Jews are there in the first bit as well, round that Egyptian section.

My initial reaction:

Yup. Human history basically boils down to Fighting, Fucking and Fashion.

Little green men are in between frames somewhere in the Area 51 space.

in the beginning, no, NOT the slanted King James version of history, it was survival, then humans learned hate and greed...it went to shit from there.

:D

I have an ID with a pic of a "greenie" on it, gives specs on what I can drive and not, seems I am well capable of flying just about anything that has a tractor beam and a warp drive.

I have slipped it in when asked for ID before, people get a kick out of it, or they say, ya, whatever, now your REAL ID? Most folks are cool about it, they laugh and I give them my real one.

I look better green though

No kidding, I thought the very same thing.

ps NJ, I don't know who did the illustrations. I just gave a link to the blog.

well, it is very interesting, thank you for broadening my horizons today. But whoever did them, it must have taken a while, I admire her/his persistence.

Yup, we could do that. I'll try. Or use any illustration, really. I wish Eve had a copy of my Tume Warp illustrated poem. I loved that one. I photoshopped myself next to Joey Ramone, lol. Sadly, I lost it when I lost a disc a few years back.

But yknow I was just thinking the other night that I should try my hand at an illustrated poem again; it has been a while. :rose:

I just realized...whoever did those, had to be a cup-half-empty type.

I mean, jeez, wasn't there room for at least one poet, musician or an artist amidst the fucking and fighting?

In panel 5, I think we've got a little David and Bathsheba goin' on. There's a depiction of Mary, Joseph's wife, I think, in panel 10. Of course there's the obvious, just before the classic image of the A-bomb mushroom cloud.

NJ, you need to look closely, I think there are a couple of artists and poets being burned at the stake and hanged by the neck. There may even be an allusion to one or two with the presence of the guillotine. It's just that it's easier to fuck it or shoot it than it is to mourn it or praise it...

lol, Champ, I see your point. Now I throw myself upon it and beg for redemption.

That is in an interesting perspective on human history in a remarkably simple way. It is probably unfortunately accurate, if a bit pessimistic—a bit Eurocentric, though (and the ordering is haphazard). It's fun to try to identify some of the figures (I think that Martin Luther and Columbus are standing next to each other as the second and third persons in panel 13, for example).

Just thought I'd take your suggestion and run with it. I've just put up a thread, A New Illustrated Poetry Thread. The illustration is not from the panels shown in this thread, it's a sappy sonnet I wrote the other day for AA's birthday. But it's a starter.

Who's game to join in?
