A Bit of a Rut

So, I've been in a bit of a porn, lit rut the past few weeks, and I wanted to see if there was anyone else out in here that was going through the same thing.

Basically, I've been looking to read/watch about pure, erotic, desire sex. Not the quickie, cum fast stuff that seems to be out there a lot. Or the stuff where the participants just seem to be bored out of their minds. Or the scene consists of:

/guy walks in
//drops pants
///girl sucks cock
////passionless fucking
/////cumming

What really turns me on is seeing desire build and build and build until it just erupts. The slow, teasing porn or lit that makes me feel like the participants no longer have control of their actions and pure animal lust comes over. The act of fucking becomes an act of necessity. Slow, hard fucking that comes out of a need to satisfy each other's primal instincts.

Where is that porn or lit?

Have you made use of your local library card recently?

You might want to purchase some romance novels.

Funnily enough, I just finished the first 66 pages to my story and submitted it 2 days ago. The first draft was 90% buildup with all of the explosion at the end. One of my editors was convinced that I should be a romance writer. That was until he got to the end of my story and concluded that I should stay an erotic literature writer. He still suggested that I add some padding in between the beginning and the explosion, so I did. Nothing too blatant, but enough to keep things moving, I guess.
I am the type of person that lusts over buildup more than anything. Sex isn't the flagship element when I read something. It's the ache and priming before the explosion itself. My point is, I get what you mean... I think?

I think I may have to. I love the build up, especially if you can get into the head of each of the characters. See them slowly turning the idea over in their heads until acting it out becomes the only possibility. And when they do act it out... fuck is it hot.

My only concern is the quality of writing in the romance novels. Most of them seem to be, well, trash. I graduated from undergrad with a concentration in creative writing, so anything that's not written well just generally annoys me and is more of a turn off than anything else.

The covers of romance novels are what get to me 😂😂 Some of them are so bad.
I was taught to never suggest books that I haven't read yet, but I have found a loophole for this situation because one of my editors suggested stuff by James Salter. Maybe something like A Sport And A Pastime or Light Years may be worth checking out? He writes about sex in a more metaphorical way. I don't know if that appeals to you at all. I just bought a bunch of his books recently and they're in my next-to-read queue.

Here is some elaboration on what little I have read by him so far, as well as a quote from one of his novels to give a stylistic example.

Oh that's pretty intriguing, I'll have to check that out.

Also, one of the other things that I've found to be extremely erotic is the dialogue during the fucking. I dig the metaphorical description he gives; Does he have any good dialogue as well?

I'll tell you when I start reading it shortly. I hope to finish this book I am already reading by tomorrow or something. I am more of a dialogue writer, so I know what you mean. Initially, my prose was absolute shit. I have since fixed that, but it was pointed out that I am a natural at dialogue writing. I was told I would even be fit for screenplay writing. But I think it's because dialogue fascinates me. It's like listening in on a conversation you're not supposed to be listening in on.
