White House senior advisor Jared Kushner’s “misjudgment” on Saudi Arabia has incensed his father-in-law, The Washington Post reported Saturday evening.

President Donald Trump said Friday night that Democratic immigration policy is so bad that "anybody who votes for a Democrat now is crazy."

"Let’s get these people out of there," Trump said of elected Democrats. "There’s something wrong. They’re cuckoo."

For several minutes, Trump spun an argument around a claim that Democrats want to give benefits to undocumented immigrants to entice them to come to the country and vote for Democrats.

"That’s why Democrats want to give illegal aliens free welfare, free health care and free education," Trump said. "Give them a driver's license, next thing you know, they’ll want to buy them a car. Then they’ll say the car’s not good enough — how about a Rolls Royce."

And, Trump said, "Democrats want to give illegal immigrants the right to vote."

As Saudi Arabia faced intensifying international scepticism over its story about the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a senior government official laid out a new version of the death inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul that in key respects contradicts previous explanations.

The latest account, provided by a Saudi official who requested anonymity, includes details on how the team of 15 Saudi nationals sent to confront Khashoggi on Oct. 2 had threatened him with being drugged and kidnapped and then killed him in a chokehold when he resisted. A member of the team then dressed in Khashoggi’s clothes to make it appear as if he had left the consulate.

Nicolle Wallace says Trump ‘had to override his circuitry’ to ask for unity by reading teleprompter remarks

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace suggested President Donald Trump stifled his own personal feelings to read prepared remarks off the teleprompter following a potential serial bomber targeting critics of the administration.

“I just want to tell you that in these times, we have to unify,” Trump said at the White House on Tuesday. “We have to come together and send one very clear, strong, unmistakable message that threats or acts of political violence have no place in the United States of America.”

“There’s this version of the president that emerges at moments when things are so bad he has to suppress and override his circuitry, which is usually to participate in the rough and tumble aspects of politics. This country has a long history of rough and tumble politics but Donald Trump is undeniably in a category of his own,” Wallace noted. “But what we saw today is someone who seemed to be saying some of the right things at a moment when he is sort of lording over a climate that he has contributed to more than anybody else in American politics.”

US judge in Trump Foundation case rebuffs political bias defense

A New York judge said on Thursday that she would not entertain arguments that political bias was at the heart of a case alleging the president unlawfully used his charity to help his 2016 campaign and to benefit his businesses.

“I don’t want to get involved with that,” New York Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla said at a hearing that focused on a motion submitted by President Donald Trump’s lawyers in August asking the judge to dismiss the case on the grounds the lawsuit was politically motivated and arguing Trump and his children did not break any laws.

Commander Who Caught Bin Laden Says Trump Media Attacks May Be “Greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime”

It’s not exactly any secret that President Trump doesn’t have a very good relationship with the media. There aren’t very many days that go by without Trump blasting the “fake news media” on Twitter.

Trump’s statement that the media is “the enemy of the American people” was responded to by a man who knows a thing or two about what an “enemy” is. William McRaven was the commander of the Joint Special Operations Command that captured and killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011.

William McRaven responded to Trump’s statement saying, “We must challenge this statement and this sentiment that the news media is the enemy of the American people. This sentiment may be the greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime.”

McRaven went on to say:

“In my sixty years, most of the serious threats to our nation have come from the outside,”

“While at times, these external pressures encouraged some within our government to adopt a barricade mentality — hiding information from the public, acting secretly outside the bounds of the law, and encouraging behavior that had an extralegal feel to it — never has the government openly challenged the idea of a free press.”

He continued…

“The news media have not always been kind to me. However, I can tell you — as someone who has been to 90 countries an spoken to the press in almost all of them — the United States has the finest press corps in the world, bar none.

There is nothing more important to a democracy than an active and engaged press. Is it perfect? Far from it. Does the media make mistakes? Far too often.

But flaws and all, I believe the free press is our country’s most important institution.

One I am more than happy to defend.

One I did, in fact, defend for 37 years.”

Here we have a Commander responsible for the death of the man who was responsible for the biggest attack on America in our history saying that President Trump’s attack on the press is a worse threat to democracy. That’s very telling.
