  • has the votes to pass both houses
  • doesn't include protection against negligence cases for companies
  • includes certain aid for states re. education, health and something else but not the main packages required
  • $300 unemployment extension
  • $600 relief cheques for those earning under $75,000 p.a

now mitch and pelosi need trump to sign this into effect. the republicans need to hold the senate, which is the reason mitch will let this go to the vote, knowing it'll pass, unlike the other agreed upon stimulus package he refused to allow voting on since he wouldn't take it to trump.

The framework is agreed upon, but there is 1 more sticking point...that PRIVATE SCHOOLS GET MONEY TOO. I see both sides...and to me, it isn't worth holding up the entire Bill. But it is time those private schools have to play by the same rules if they want Federal support

Hate to sound ungrateful, but I wonder how long they think $600 is going to be stretched for people who haven't worked in months?

indeed, not nearly enough but a start. $600 per adult plus the same for any dependent in the household, i believe

plus those receiving unemployment benefits will get $300 a week, which will go some way to helping with rent/food

This bill a fucking joke, pardon my language. Yes it is better than nothing, but this is how a nation should treat it's citizens in times of need....

Agreed, but it's exactly what anyone who voted Republican at any time since 1980 was asking for. Reagan made it popular to not give a shit about the disenfranchised...the problem is, sooner or later, most of us are disenfranchised in one way or another.

No arguments here.

The True word.

I'm in the hole twice that this month helping out a couple of people that CAN"T work and don't have enough income to live on...

It's not, if your state has put you out of work/shut your business down, it's time to leave for less oppressive states. Use that 600 bucks to get some bus tickets the fuck out of their progressive state or suffer the wrath of the (D) government your state/city voted for. :D

Just remember who it was that shut you down, remember which group of assholes told you that you and your family were non-essential and sent you packing....while they went out and ate/partied with their friends, got their hair done, let their buddies stay open even if they're in the same "non-essential" industry you're in.

Saying you’re in the hole implies a deficit. That’s a little like going to save a drowning person without a preserver.

And $600 is better than nothing, which is what people are currently getting. You don’t get to be all “it’s not enough” while being the party against handouts to anyone who isn’t a bank, car industry, or other corporate entity.

At the very best, they hope it'll keep the lights on until the new POTUS is sworn in and the executive branch is not longer distracted by a batshit crazy boss.

This is standard fare in a divided Congress, is it not? Doing the bare minimum at the last minute so that everyone can fundraise off the "obstruction on the other side of the aisle".

The threshold for getting $600 is way too high. Why give money to people who already have enough for the basics of food and shelter?

If you only have so much money in the bill for direct handouts, why not give more than $600 to people who are just about to be evicted? The out-of-touch fools in Washington DC have zero concept of what it is like to sleep under a public park picnic table in December because you lost your minimum wage service industry job months ago during a pandemic.

Why not give more to people who are already living on the streets? Many of those people don't get anything at all in direct payments, because they don't have an address or a bank account.

If the bill is going to be limited to less than a trillion, now is not the time to give money to individuals who already have the means to stay comfortable and isolated.

Amerika-- land of the heartless bastards.

Why??

Do you think the executive branch is going to do something????

Because it's a "stimulus" not a Soviet wealth redistribution package.

And we want things OTHER than liquor stores and crack dealers to get stimulated. :)

January 20th...21st I the day when it becomes clear what a President is for...duh!

"Stimulus" my ass.

This ain't a stimulus bill. The economy has already been run into a shitter that will take years to pump out.

This is an emergency aid bill, so give aid to the people who need it the most.

Thanks progressive blue shit holes, it's a fucking shame we can't forcibly keep all these companies and people in your blue shit holes and force them to suffer the government THEY voted for.

Instead like locust they'll move to more liberal/conservative states and destroy them in the same manner.....that's what you and your "progressive" comrades are coati, locust.

It's definitely not anywhere near what it should be.

Because of his particular monthly welfare check from the gummint, BoBo has plenty of time to decry emergency aid to others.

That you and I and all the "progressives", "communist" and "Maoist" pay for via our taxes after working very hard...we really are such lazy folks!

And yet you supported Satan as President and his Republican minions in the Senate.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
