Today is a special day. The Chinese believe that the number 9 means 'long lasting. Just a superstition you say? I have a tax hearing today. If there's something longer lasting than taxes, I don't wanna know. Comment?

Today is 9/9/09, and it will be the last time we'll see repeating digits in the date until January 1, 2101. But it also holds special meaning for many people.

LiveScience.com writes that for numerologists, the number "9" is associated with forgiveness, compassion and success. But it can also be connected to arrogance and self-righteousness.

Sept. 9 is also the 252nd day of the year. 2 + 5 + 2 = 9.

In Chinese culture, "9" is auspicious just as the number "8" is. While the word in Chinese for "8" strongly resembles that of "good fortune," the Chinese word for "9" resembles the word for "long-lasting." LiveScience reports that ancient Chinese emperors would display "9" prominently in their dress and architecture, often in the form of nine dragons.

It's also the day that they're releasing the Beatles Rock Band game! ;)

It's also the day the moon is in Taurus perfect for me to plant root crops.

:confused:You jest, unbelievers. At nine seconds past nine o'nine, me and Harry Potter were under the kitchen table awaiting the worst from Voldermorte.

You mean you weren't panicking at 09:09:09:09:09:09? You must be Muggles:confused:

Err, what about 10/10/10, 11/11/11 and 12/12/12:confused:

Don't get too excited.:D

As if that was the only thing you were doing under there.

This is weird, cuz today is my 28th anniversary. Wish me luck that it will last a little longer.

My nine year old nephew had surgery yesterday. 9-9-09 at 9:00 am. I don't think they wanted anyone to forget when it was supposed to be. And even stranger, when we asked his German doctor if there were any problems during the surgery, he said, "Nein."

Freaky.
