9/11 Redux and Revisitation

American Network Television is not state regulated, for the most part, except for obscenity restrictions and cable television even less so.

Thus the flurry, each late August and early September of replays and new explorations of 9/11 is driven by 'perceived' public interest.

I have noticed it for the past week and it increases each day.

The annual renewal of interest is perhaps important as we reconsider that the United States would not be in Afghanistan or Iraq, had it not been for the events on 9/11.

Had there been no 9/11, or hurricane Katrina, things would be different and both are important to consider as America had no choice in either.

Our only choice...was in how to respond.

We are rebuilding the Twin Towers with a 1776 foot tall monument to freedom. New Orleans will live again, as Florida rebuilt from hurricane Andrew, lives again.

As an old native american said in the film, 'The Outlaw Josie Wales' "We will endeavor to perservere..."

And we will.

A small addenda or addendum to the above....

I just watched...rather by accident...on Showtime, cable television, channel 537, DC 9/11, Time of Crisis, which I had not seen before, a 2003 production.

It is a chronological event following the President, George Bush, his family, the Cabinet and the government in the days following 9/11.

One statement reminded me...."This nation is peaceful, but fearsome when stirred to anger..." of where we are now, nearly four years later.

The film is, without doubt, pro American, and as such, will anger many. But from what I learned from watching and listening, a fair and rational account of the actual events on 9/11 and the days following.

Even if you hate us and what we are...watch it...and learn...it was not and has not been an easy time for this nation.

It was a horrific tragedy, which did not deserve the treatment it got by a cynical power hungry leader. Perhaps someday, when we've stopped sucking Bin-laden's cock long enough to arrest him and drag him screaming before the world court from his villa in Pakistan, they will finally be avenged. And the mostly democratic men and women who died might eventually be respected in a way which actually thanks the brave firefighters by not slashing their budget, our brave fighting men by not slashing their money and actually giving them armour and bullets, and our country by not raping corpses to divide this country in hatred. Perhaps on that day, our intelligence community will not be made worse by a leader so fearful of truth, he would commit treason to scare competent people into playing yes-men. Perhaps on that day, we will truly remember 9/11.

I ain't holding my breath though.
