8L Stats 4/1/23 - Who has been publishing lately by category and gender

Interesting statistics. Some are intuitive, Some are not. In the LW section, there are fewer women authors but they tend to write better and more realistic stories than the men

It is hard to tell how many of those that identify as men or women actually belong to that sex. Still, these are interesting stats. I am mostly surprised by the large percentage of women in BDSM category and the somewhat smaller than expected number of women in Romance category.

Again. When you leave a site and update your profile to say why… maybe stay away?

Just sayin’

The "interesting" thing about the statistics is that so many people do NOT identify their gender that it's difficult to draw any conclusions from those that do. In most categories, and in all of the more popular categories, most don't identify their gender. We have no idea how many men v. women either decline to identify their gender, or misidentify their gender. I suspect more women decline to identify themselves or misidentify themselves in order to avoid unwanted attention from men, but I'm just speculating.

Given that roughly half the results are nil gender shown, the remaining split is fairly meaningless, I'd say. Not enough to start a religion, anyway.

Other than an interesting ways to add random numbers to 100, is this important?
WAIT A MINUTE
We have 32 distinct categories, but there's only 26 listed here... where's Reviews and essays? I wrote an incredibly important essay on the VA covering up veteran suicide numbers, and Reviews and Essays just "happens" to be forgotten. It Is Not On This List

I sense a coverup...

Interesting stats, thanks for sharing.

As mentioned, whatever the percentage is, increase the number of men and decrease the number of women . Many men write as women to get more views/comment.

These stats could be lead to the conclusion "Women don't seem to associate humour with sex".

Aside from the obvious jokes about laughing at penis size, is this true?

Two things you don't do in bed
1. Point
2. Laugh

The stats are bunk - so is this hypothesis.

Absolutely. Just the first line: "This is the % if a 4837-story subset of stories published since by category and by gender" da fork?
then 8letters gives
? multiple values:

? = Blank or No Answer for Gender
followed by
? is the percentage of all stories published by that category

Then 8letters ignores four categories. Even if there were no stories published that meets 8letter's since by subset "rules", 0 is still a number and leaving it out shows that 8letters didn't have a problem with manipulating the data.

Also - how is 8letters obtaining this data? I have seen that question presented and 8letters' response is "gerbils" Does gerbils = backdoor hack? or is 8letters an employee of Lit and has access to the main db. Just askin'

He's probably scraping the site. Simple to do, just takes a script and time.

Is this established fact, or just Lit gossip?

I’ve done just the opposite - mostly as I was afraid of some of what actually then happened once I started being myself here.

I think I’ve said before, but the funniest was when I spoke to one guy (he PMed me) who was terrified I was a gay man trying to get photos of his cock. I’m sure that happens a lot 🤣.
