$7M in PPE damaged after being left outside for months by California county

Nearly $7 million of personal protective equipment purchased by a California county was damaged in rainstorms after it was left outside for months.

The equipment and cleaning supplies were part of a surplus stockpile that San Mateo County in northern California purchased early on in the coronavirus pandemic. It was left outside after it was removed from the San Mateo Event Center last fall to make space for an event,*according to a local ABC News affiliate station.

Boxes containing PPE such as face shields, goggles, bleach, mop buckets, non-medical-grade isolation gowns and sterile gowns, were reportedly damaged in the recent rain.

I think both sides are useless and wasteful and stupid and shortsighted and both sides play into this idea that the government gets to swagger into my life and yours, take our money and then accidentally waste it and be all "Awwe, shucks... honest mistake!" and then reach into our pockets for more money.

The side I'm on is that we need to go at the government with a big fat stack of "you're fucking fired" pink slips and we need to go door to door, department to department handing them out. I want them all to lose their jobs, lose their retirement programs, lose their lifetime benefits and go get real jobs like everyone else.

Why don't you start with the truth? No vaccines spoiled in FL. Up to a million TEST KITS have outlived their expiration date unless the manufacturer can get another extension approved by the FDA.

A SFB in state government is trying to make political hay out of what is essentially a non-event created by a lack of demand for the kits during the time period when they expired. The demand for the kits didn't kick in until this month AFTER the kits had already expired.

Further the SFB's proposed, after the fact, solution would cost the state (and the taxpayer) more than merely replacing the kits. Fried is counting stupidity to make her case....................and apparently, at least in your case, it's working.
