Can't do that. Not all of those crimes and attempted crimes happen in gun-free zones.

If you actually had an honest look at all vile crime you would find that more of it is discouraged by criminals awareness of the presence of a gun, the display of a gun, the use of a gun or even the perception that there may be an armed response than is actually committed with guns.

There is a reason that cops show up at shootings with guns drawn and that the cowards that commit mass shootings do so in the ironically named "gun-free zones."

I would go so far as to allow concealed carry everywhere. I would go so far as to allow convicted felons who have served their time in prison to be allowed to carry concealed the day they leave prison.

The problem isn't guns it isn't the lack of gun control laws which are universally violated buy actual criminals or even the presence of illegal guns. The problem is there are criminals who are willing to pull the trigger and take human life that they are not justified in taking.

Criminals always prefer unarmed victims. Just ask them. Oh wait, the FBI already did.

Chicago has a long history of unconstitutional gun control laws none of it helped. Nothing changed for the worse when those unconstitutional laws were struck down. I say arm all of them. Right now rival gang members are loath to carry firearms to defend themselves when they aren't actually caring one that they're going to shoot someone with and leave at the scene. it's not worth going to jail for having an illegal firearm on you when most days you're not going to get shot. Actual murderers getting ready to kill other felons in Chicago have a pretty good expectation that the guy they're about to shoot because they have the chance to plan ahead and he did not is going to be unarmed and that is why you have the murder rates that you do.

I don't think there's very much that you can do to bring First World Civilization to certain neighborhoods in Chicago however armed societies are far more polite than disarmed societies. Every time there's a shooting in a road rage incident that gets publicized suddenly you notice people a little more reluctant to threatened their fellow citizens with what amounts to a deadly weapon. Their car.

I think you'd be less inclined to bring up other children as well as your tendency to use your own in false flag plots if you are any kind of father at all. If you weren't estranged for being such a horrible father in the first place, maybe you wouldn't project all of your feelings of failure on other people.
