A huge 747 crashes in Afghanistan after (for some reason) pitching the nose of the aircraft up into completely vertical flight.
I'm no pilot, but I don't understand the circumstances behind why this happened and why the plane was not able to maintain steady, level flight.
The weather conditions appear to be fine.
Mechanical failure with the elevators/flight controls, perhaps?
