Poet Guy proposes a challenge to those who frequent the Literotica Poetry Feedback & Discussion forum, a challenge that he believes is not difficult, but one which does require a commitment from the participants and one which emphasizes both Poetry and Feedback & Discussion. The challenge is simply stated:
  • Poetry: Write and post to Literotica one poem per week for the year 2011. Poems can be in any form or no form (free verse or prose poetry), can be illustrated or audio or simply print, can be erotic or non-erotic. Nor do poets have to post a poem each calendar week. Simply write and post 52 new poems during the year.
  • Feedback & Discussion: Comment on two posted poems for each poem posted by the participant. While it would be preferable that the poems commented on be poems posted by other challenge participants, this is not a requirement. The comments should be made on poems posted to Literotica during 2011 (i.e., participants cannot get credit for commenting on poems posted prior to 2011, though if you are moved to comment on such a poem, that certainly is encouraged). Participants cannot comment on their own poems, at least for credit against this criterion.
That's it. Anyone who completes these two criteria "wins" the competition. There is no "quality control" component (i.e., poems do not have to be judged as "quality" poems by anyone, nor do comments made on poems, though please try to do your best on both). There are also, perhaps understandably, no prizes.

If you decide to participate, reply to this thread. If there is enough interest, Poet Guy will try and come up with some kind of scorecard system, probably in a different thread.

Remember:
A poem a week
And comments, two,
Will make you sleek
As Lash LaRue.
or something like that.

I'll play, one a week plus two is attainable, even with my 2nd semester workload.

Good idea.

Thanks.

Barring acts of the computer gods, I'm in. I probably would have done this anyway...:D

I'm expressing my intention to try this and revive my muse.
But the road to you know where is paved with good intentions...

Poetic License

Okay, my poet's license got suspended for failing to come to a complete stop at the end of a sentence, it was my third offense, I mean I thought I could just slide by with that comma splice, but the judge had No Mercy.

So when I get my license back, I'll play!

Love,

Jamie

Where do we post? In this thread or submit it?

i might be posting as normal after tomorrow, or might be a week or so till i'm back on the net. hopefully transmissions will not be interrupted ;) bill being paid tomorrow.

Poet Guy apologizes for his lack of clarity. He meant that you submit your poem to Literotica (like this) and that your comments be normal comments on posted/submitted poems.

His hope is that the number of poems in the New Poems increase, as do the responses/comments on those poems.

Poet Guy points out that this is not a time-oriented challenge (except within the timeframe of a year).

To illustrate with an extreme example, a participant might post (submit) 52 poems in the last week of December and post 104 comments on other posted (submitted) poems on December 31 and still "win" the competition.

Such are the advantages of defining "win" vaguely.

Call me crazy (most of you already have--more than once), but I'll give it a shot. But Mr. Poet Guy, where do we do the commenting? In the feedback area when the poem is posted, in a thread here, in new poems reviews? I like specificity!

Also it would help if there were some direction as to what sorts of comments you mean. If I get 104 comments like "I like this" or "This stinks," it won't be so helpful.

I knoooow.

I already made a mini resolution to try and be more active here. Babysteps.
Poet Guy is looking forward to Liar's participation and will make a homey little notch for him in the scoreboard, if only just to remind Liar that he semi-committed to this.

Poet Guy believes politicians gather support this way, at least in his country, and he is not above employing such tactics.

Dear Crazy:

Poet Guy apologizes for his lack of specificity. Comments should be made to the poem as it is posted at Literotica. Part of Poet Guy's intent is to increase the number of poems (and, he hopes, quality poems) posted to Literotica (a/k/a the New Poems list) and to increase the commentary response to poems posted to Literotica's New Poems list.

For example, see Poet Guy's (perhaps incompetent) comment on greenmountaineer's poem "Words."

Again, the intent is to increase the number of poems being posted to the Literotica New Poems list and to increase the number of comments on said poems, whether posted by someone participating in the challenge or not.

Poet Guy hopes that is clear, but will try to further obfuscate participants if it is not.

Poet Chick appreciates Poet Guy's response.

Ok then.

Now I'll just have to try and remember how to post to this site...

Hey hot chick. I'll do yours if you'll do mine... ;)

Poet Guy, even after updating this with the newest contestants, is pleased with this, but his inner Donald Trump wants more, more more.

But he will take what he can get for now. He would call out certain names, but wishes not to be too unseemly and groveling, Lauren Hynde.

Oops.

Join up, join up for the Mystery Tour.
