737 crashes in Russia

Ugh, looked like a fairly heavily populated area, too.

I wonder where it would have been if it had landed and taken off again?

I sometimes track specific planes backwards to see where they came from and you'd be surprised how many cities the plane you get on has been that day or that week.

It's kinda neat.

I also fool with a few tracking systems like this one. You can click on the planes and get information on the flight, speed, altitude, heading, destinations etc.

There are just over 21,000 commercial airports in the world, and just over 20,000 commercial airplanes.

Cool!
I meant if it was a timed bomb where was it supposed to blow up if the plane hadn't been so late and circling?

If you watch the video, it was on fire as it came down. I doubt high winds could do that.

I wondered about that too but they say it was near hurricane force wind and the guy already tried to land once and nailed the tail and went back around so there was also damage to the plane as is my understanding. If he lost tail rudder control or it was compromised in any way theres no way he could land the plane in those winds.

Everyone seems in agreement this was not terrorism or anything of the sort.

Haven't we heard that before with Russian plane recently, and then it turned out it was?

Yeah but theres a lot of tracking radar available on this flight. I've seen some and this thing was in distress and was flyin all over that area trying to land.

Why they tried to land in those conditions is what I want to know. Must have been no alternatives possibly low on fuel but the size of the explosion sure looks like they had plenty of fuel.
