Is she too young to be a grandmother, maybe 75-80 right?

70 is more than old enough. she could have had her child at 18, then that child a parent at 18, and the grandson now 18 = 54 (+ a year or to for good measure).

It was more common to have kids in earlier 20s in yolder generations. So realistically, if she had kid at 25, and that kid had grandson at 30, add 18 years and she is 73. That means 70 is quite plausible- that is, she had kid at 22 (My mom was married at 20, first kid at 21). That kid could then have until 28 and grandson would be 20.

My wife was a grandmother at age 38. She is still a grandmother at 72 and our kids are in their 40's now and have late twenty-something kids.

Actually, she might be a little too old. Knock her back to early 60's maybe even late 50's.

ETA: My mom was a grandmother at age 58. Not by me, by my younger idiot of a brother who it seems never heard of a condom.

Got confused after reading your calculations twice !!!!!
Age doesn't matter........but if you need to quote age, I was "very happy" with my grandmother from when she was 60 until she passed away at 93.
