funny, I had the opposite reaction- I loved it. I think Ruth and Arthur would make a great 'mature' story.

yeah, the preseason publicity hinted at it, then it fizzled. not that kathy bates is intrinsically sexy, but a nice contrast with ruth I thought- could have opened her up , peeling away layers of inhibition

all I can think about is how sad dave looked when that happened. Watching it, all I could think was that he and keith should have read my 3some essay. sad.

exactly, Chicklet- it is as if they are real, and we are involved. the magic of the best fiction, and easier to do on tv than in words, is to make the characters real.
Keith is such a pardigmatic model ( redundant?) of an abusive spouse that I identify the emoptions and the issues, even thoughit's transposed from the straight life I know. This in turn makes the gay experience of David more accessible to me, and broadens my mind. Sublime. Also sad.

I find Six Feet Under a very sad show at times, but redemptive at others. Just like life. It is the whole hope of redemprtion that gets us through the sad parts. Both in life and watching TV.

Have you ever read John Irving's novel The Hotel New Hampshire? Or seen the movie? There is a great line . The narrator keeps begging his depressed sister ( Jodie Foster) to " keep passing the open windows". A suitable mantra for bleak moments.


At the end of this week's episode, has David walked away from Keith forever? Is that redemption- standing up for himself? Or is redemption only available if he can forge a mature relationship with Keith?
