Whats up with them being the official currency of Liberia?

That is just to strange
 
Why is it strange? Canad has the crowns of England on some of their currency.

Yeah but we are still under the crown of the english monarchy.

I thought it was strange, it wtruck me as ofdd as I watched the commercial advertsing them, that it was important for them to say that American Presidential Collector Coins were apporved as the national currency of Liberia. It struck me like those Rolex watches for sale on the streets of New York for 5 $ only they are spelt with an n instead of an l
 
They do it to make money. Have you see the US quarters with the states on the back? I read where the government has made something like 6 billion dollars on that program from all the people who collect and hoard them. And the new gold dollar? Well, I've only gotten one of those in change.

I had completely forgotten about the gold dollar. I got one in change from the main post office in D.C. when they first came out, and I haven't seen another one since. They don't age well - the gold color turns a sickly brownish yellow after it's been handled. Has anyone else gotten one of these? Or are they all in someone's coin collection by now?

Come up to Maine there are lots of the state quarters "d" and "p" editions same with the Gold dollars lots of both editions up here in Maine too.
