Forget XMas - I and my son-in-law are counting down the days until this movie is released. How about you?

They just showed a trailer on TV. I want to see it bad, but I don't wait in line for any movie, so I will probably not see it until I go see my kids for XMas - unless I get a job before then and go with coworkers. I hate going to movies by myself. Anybody in the Seattle area want to go with me (hopefully of the opposite gender)?

By the way...

Apparently it's released in England first :p
And good luck findin someone to go with!

Yep, I can't wait. Although, I must admit, I'm looking forward to seeing "Harry Potter" a tad more. It doesn't have anything to do with the film, though. The anticipation of the "Star Wars" trailer is KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going with a group of people to watch it on Dec. 19th at 11:30 am EST!! I'm looking forward to watch both Harry Potter and LOTR equally I'll say.

Hell i've been camped at the theater since last year or was that 2 years ago???? i think 2, from the first day i heard LOTR will be a movie.............

I died :)

So...THAT'S why your bedridden. You wre probabl;y stepped on. Not to mention, you probably got pnemonia. Also, I don't wanna scare ya, but, you probably caught some Anthrax blowing in the wind. You should be ok.:)

yep yep

I dunno who is anticipating it more, me or my girls. the special effects are gonna be outstanding. We are also anxiously awaiting Harry Potter. I'd rather go to those movies with my daughters anyday than some bum bum man! :p yeahhhhhhhhhhh ;)

Pardon the childlike anticipation but...

Oh My God I am SO at this movie :)

The Rings are just about the coolest series I have ever read, the books have inspired countless people, ideas and more. I still get a bit misty eyed when I remember Bilbo's death. *sigh* Ahhh Tolkien, how ye've changed the world.

Not to mention that the movies themselves look very BADASS and should be massively entertaining... and they are giving them to us in a package three Christmas's in a row!

I just can't believe a movie production studio made such a cool decision.

I have to go lie down now, I am feeling faint.

LOL I"m not bed ridden....... House though, unless someone comes and gets me out hehe.... so i've already signed up my friends to take me to LOTR the day it's released :D

Best fantasy series...

LOTR is my most anticipated movie since Episode 1....

I have read the books over and over and over. Can't wait to take my son and introduce him to this fantastic story.

THANK YOU!!!!! Havn't gotten to Bilbo's fall, yet. OH, WELL. I'll still finish it.

Thanks to my daughter, the movie theater manager, I have the poster. Curses on those, who 30 years ago, got me hooked on Tolkien and I can't break the habit ;)~ (and I refuse to use the pun).

lavender is a fan of independent movies; the more obscure the better. This evening she started talking about some foreign film with subtitles and subtle characterization. She says she can't stand anything Hollywood produces.

The days that Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter come out I plan on buying two tickets and showing up in the living room welding my machete.

I don't watch movies alone.

BUT NEVER... oh admit it... you just don't like things with a good plotline.

And NO machete

At that point Bilbo is not part of the story, and you know it's coming far in advance as well. But sorry anyway for tellin' ya. :(

I has all become clear...

Now I know why I'm half in love with you, Kitsuke.... LOTR is in my estimation the greatest work of fiction ever written bar none. I was 14 years old when I fell in love with Middle Earth and all it's inhabitants... all these years later my love affair with Tolkien is alive and well .I will be there the day it opens and will own it the day it’s released to DVD. I hope and pray it lives up to it’s hype. I don’t have a clue how many times I’ve read these books. They only get better with time.

It happens.

Hey Faith

Well damn, maybe we should bag Tolkien for a while and work on our own fantasy?

D'oh! Sorry, libido took the driver's seat there for a moment, but dang woman, you make it so difficult to think straight!

Hell yea....

Have been waiting all flippin summer, and now part of fall to see that movie!

Can not wait!

*Runs to theater, to get a good seat*

Lavender-smavinder.....

You won't have a problem seeing this one then... It isn't a Hollywood production.
I might be mistaken but I think the dudes making this are Austrailian or British.

Just because Lucas is a Hollywood producer and responsible for most of the new technology at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), doesn't mean that this technology won't be available to independant film makers. Actually, you'll find it becoming very cheap to use, after it is developed...

Computer art rids us of the burden of overbearing set design on all largescale landscape, and relavent scenes, along with add in ability. That way then the focus of cost can be put on what sets are needed, great costuming, and other features of filmaking.

Soon, you'll see things done in I-films never available to the makers before.

I am going for sure. :D

Ummm...Bilbo doesn't die...where did you get that? Look over the last chapter a little more carefully, he's there. No more giving away the parts for people who havn't gotten to it! hehe.

And obviously i'm flipping out in anticipation.

i read the books first time this year ... really enjoyed them the film wont be as good as the books :) ... but im hoping it will still be pretty good

Likely they won't be quite as good as the books..due to rewrites and the characters not meeting your personal image.

The main rewrite i'm aware of is that Arwen more or less take on the role of both Bombadil and Glorfindel, giving her a larger part, due to the fact she is played by the fablous Liv Tyler.

However, from what i've seen and read of the rewrites, they have been done well, by a Tolkien lover and should not hurt the story greatly.

As movies go in living up to books, I believe this will be a exception to the norm. All looks well and I look foward to it with great eagerness.
