45 years after its release, YMCA hits #1 on the Billboard charts

It lines up with the maxi pad diaper wearing cultists well. Fly your freak flag!

BabyBoobs is soooooo weird…

Just like BabyBoobs’ dear orange leader is soooooo weird…and rapey…and racist…and fascistic…and misogynistic…and corrupt…and traitorous…and…

😑

👉 BabyBoobs 🤣

This song is partly about using the YMCA as a cheap hostelry, a service it no longer provides in most places.

But it is mainly about the YMCA as a hookup spot for gay sex. And I guess it is still good for that.

That'll be epic.
All those illiterates who don't even realize that they voted for a rapist, only that they didn't vote for a black woman. They all line up and find out that their cult leader loves a nursery rhyme of a song performed by a bunch of gayz.

What could go wrong?

“Come January 2025,” Willis added on Facebook, “my wife will start suing each and every news organisation that falsely refers to YMCA, either in their headlines or alluded to in the base of the story, that YMCA is somehow a gay anthem because such notion is based solely on the song’s lyrics alluding to elicit [sic] activity for which it does not.”

Starting January 2025
Lol

They wouldn't, but damn...,

MVPGA!

Way to go PT Donnie!

But the new resurgence has sparked speculation about whether the band might now perform the song at the president-elect's inauguration next month.

"If you were to ask me today if the Village People would perform at the inauguration, I would probably say not because we'd be concerned about endorsement," Willis responded.

"However, because the president-elect has done so much for ‘Y.M.C.A.’ and brought so much joy to so many people, the song has actually gone back to No. 1, and it's still No. 1 today, so if he were to ask the Village People to perform the song live for him, we'd have to seriously consider it."

How many of them are still alive, anyway?
No idea. As long as the lead singer-songwriter and one or two other originals are still alive and able to perform, it would work.

I was in college when that song came out. Hated it. But when the beer spot that all the students went to on Friday and Saturday nights would play it, the dance floor would suddenly become packed. Girls loved it. “Crocodile Rock” got ‘em going too.

Reminds me of another seemingly innocent song that has a not so innocent story line. “Puff the Magic Dragon” is about LSD. 😂

I had to work Black Oak Arkansas and the only one from the band was Jim...

... he was out of his gourd. No one could work with that for long.

🤠🥃

Victor might want to tell The Library of Congress that YMCA isnt gay.

“Today, on the final day of Pride, the Library of Congress’ looks back at one of its most recent and best-known additions–the Village People’s “YMCA.”

You were a bouncer at a dive bar where the last remaining member was lucky enough to book, AJ.

Jealousy can be triggered and accompanied by feelings of: anger, resentment, hostility, inadequacy, and bitterness.

Jealousy can be rooted in insecurity and a fear of inadequacy.

I know. AJ being jealous of me because I've never been so low that I had to work as a bouncer at a dive bar is palpable.

First sentence in the story:
“Village People founding member Victor Willis…”
Willis is making the rounds of any and every talk show that will have him on, I guess he's seeking his 16th minute of fame.

He honestly seems to bristle each time the talking head on the other side of the table smirks and does the *wink *nudge thing "Oh come on, errybody knows it's a 'gay song' ". He gets so pissy I'm starting to believe that he truly believes he wrote a pure "campy song" as a put-on.

Side note: I wonder if the Trump campaign ponied up the money for appropriating the Village People song during their hate rallies this year? Or are they relying on the "legal" advice of barrister HisRolePlay, Esquire ("It's not illegal if a president or former president done it...both have qualified immunity for the rest of their lives, the Supreme Court said so!")
