I'm no expert on what defines erotica vs. just a story with a sex scene or two, but I'm guessing my latest story is rapidly trending towards that latter catagory.

My characters and the story line just can't seem to get to it.

Anyone else have this problem?

Actually, I'm having the same problem with my first Erotic Horror piece. I'm at around 15,000 words and all I've got so far is a naked woman lying in a bed.

Well, although I'm nowhere near those kinds of numbers (being a noob and all), I'm having a similar issue. I've been working on what I intended to be a 2500 words short story. I'm up to 1950 words now and I haven't gotten to the sex yet. And my male lead character somehow ended up in the hospital.

My last chapter of Montana Summer was over 20K with only one small sex scene. My NaNo entry was over 50K and not even a hint of sex...

I don't see it as a problem, I see it as my writing evolving...

That doesn't sound too promising, unless they have some kind of orgy with the nurses or other staff. Maybe you can make it a water sports story. Of course, with only about 550 words to go, Thers's not a lot that can be done.

Eheh. I think I'll just have to make the story longer. There's no way I can resolve everything and write the sex. Now water sports aren't my thing, but I think he may get a nice BJ since he's not hurt that badly.

A good sex scene is usually at *least* 1500 words, and that's a quickie.
I'd say extend your story.

And dammit guys - what I'd give for your problems... it's like, without sex as a motivator, my characters won't get off their arses and do *anything*

In my 2003 Nano effort... Other than one young man constantly being referred to as a perv and doing himself in his pocket regularly... No one actually gets to have sex in the main story line for the whole 50,185 words of the challenge story, and another 10,000 words of later edit/addition... All the way through the entire cast talk about sex, most attempt to get together and have sex, but something always goes wrong and stops them going through with it... So no one actually gets laid in print as it were

You too hey... I lost all but a 10,000 word first chapter posted here when a bloody zip disk crashed... 60,300 words and still no sex, and a fair few thousand left to finish the story... I was toying with the idea of ending it with a huge orgy Also lost the entire 72,000 word 2004 effort all barring sveral thou of editing still on the puter

Nooooo! Don't shatter my illusion that it can be done! I keep tweaking the same old 4000 word chapter. I was wondering what it was like to write that 50,000 words and keep it all straight...I'll probably never know, so, back to the strokers.

Oh, I'm not stuck. It's still moving, just not in any kind of orderly direction. Kind of like a group of screaming children in a supermarket.
