400,000 lives

Shame on humans for being so addictive to certain things that kill: drugs, tobacco, alcohol, violence, fast cars and even faster women. But, you know, we all gotta die of something. Still, it’s better to choose one’s death than let someone else choose it for you.

God bless the living.

How many of these people were held down and forcibly given these opioids? And I don't mean in a medical environment.

Actually a lot of people get over-prescribed, the MD gets kickbacks, and the patients get addicted.

I don't want or need your fairy tale psochpath's blessing.

True, but no one forced these people to keep using.

This reminds me of when the CIA was flooding the ghettos with crack cocaine. The inner city folks knew this was case yet they kept buying.

These people have been warned, repeatedly, of the addictive nature of opioids yet they have gone out of their way to get them.

Drugs are bad. Keep it natural. Weed and beer. Works as a painkiller, mood enhancer, anti-anxiety and viagra all in one.

The Purdue and Sackler family has reportedly managed to pull their fortunes out of the business, like Trump likes to do, and will run with the money.

Becoming addicted to a script recommended by your MD who gets paid to pimp it is not exactly "forcing", but it's deceit and abuse of power.

Fuck. Just fuck. We loose 400,000 people because of a bunch of greedy cock suckers, the assholes file bankruptcy and walk away with their profits from the deaths of those people?

Fuck....just fuck.

Opioid talks at impasse; Purdue bankruptcy filing expected

Unfortunately, it's not the first time a company has done this nor will it be the last one either.

Nor is it the first person (s) to do this nor will it be the last person (s) either

history is full of people (companies) that have done this to other people / faiths / colors / creeds / nationalities / etc.

Not trying to be a dick, but have you ever felt the power of real addiction? Fuck any power of any God. Addiction curb stomps gods head every time.

I smoked for almost 20 years. Addiction sucks. Don't matter what it is, your brain says you need it right fucking now. I hated that feeling and kept doing it anyway.
Shit like the Dr. has would be worse cuz you're unlikely to die of nicotine overdose.

No, I have not. However, as I said, people have been warned of the addictive nature of these drugs. Knowing that, they should have availed themselves of the numerous options, many taxpayer funded, to get them off the drugs.

It sounds like I'm heartless, and to some extent that is true, but it goes back to what I have said many times when being accused of being a "liberal": personal responsibility. If you keep going back, even if the doctor keeps giving you the same thing, that is on you. You have to recognize the issue and do something about it.

If you're not careful, you're going to die a bitter old man who's also obsessed with Trump. Get off the guy's cock for just one post.

From the great and powerful Wiki

A 2016 Los Angeles Times investigation reported that in many people OxyContin's 12-hour schedule does not adequately control pain, resulting in withdrawal symptoms including intense craving for the drug. The journalists suggested that this problem gives "new insight into why so many people have become addicted." Using Purdue documents and other records, they claim that Purdue was aware of this problem even before the drug went to market but "held fast to the claim of 12-hour relief, in part to protect its revenue [because] OxyContin's market dominance and its high price — up to hundreds of dollars per bottle — hinge on its 12-hour duration."[21]

OxyContin became a blockbuster drug. Purdue had increased its earnings from a few billion in 2007[22] to US$31 billion by 2016.[23] That had increased to US$35 billion by 2017.[24] According to a 2017 article in The New Yorker, Purdue Pharma is "owned by one of America's richest families, with a collective net worth of thirteen billion dollars".[24] In response to this and other journalism, photographer Nan Goldin launched the organization P.A.I.N., to pressure museums and other cultural institutions to divest from Sackler Family philanthropy.[25]

In 2018, Purdue Pharma patented a new form of buprenorphine, which controls cravings and is used to treat addiction to opioids such as OxyContin.[26]

Not only do they get people hooked, but then they patent a possible solution.

This calls for an emoji  because a person's own disappointment in the justice system will do much better than any words I could type.

Does it upset you that I help point out the rolling idiocies of a sleazy shyster you defend? Good. :)

One response. I don't want to help you hijack the thread.

Your posts on Literotica point to a pretty shitty life that you're leading.

I was trying help you out by getting you to stop obsessing over your President. :D

Oh, sure, you're such a help. A parasitic drone here, but you seem to think of that as help. Those juvenile Internet games don't work with me. Save your nonsense.

Whose fault is it?

Obviously it would be wrong to assign responsibility to the individuals that choose to take addictive drugs. In fact it is morally wrong to hold anyone accountable for their own actions. The guilt needs to be transferred to someone or something else.

Oh wait. I take that back on grounds of irrational logic.

There is no doubt that big drug companies have brewed up a lot of toxic crap. But I have never heard of any of these companies forcing their drugs down the throats of people. Lots of people drink too much and die younger than they need to. But who should be blamed?

Have no fear...Keith the pussy/coward is in his late 70's and on deaths doorstep. He can't help but be bitter as he's a failure in life.

Again, the things you mention are not prescribed and recommended by a doctor who gets paid to be a dealer.

"Migraines? Take these, it'll be fine. Oh you need more? No problem. Even more, sure thing! Oops, now you're physically addicted. I'll be on the golf course."

On the other hand, after you have had your kidney cut out and you want to die because the pain is intolerable and no doctor will write you a script to get you through because they're afraid of losing their license, I hope they all fucking die. :)

on the one hand, i absolutely fucking hate the whole drug culture because it has killed off so many of the geniuses of our time. but, ON THE OTHER HAND, i fucking hate the fact that so many of the geniuses of our time have succumbed. i blame the whole aa-na culture-"i have a disease". i worked for a rehab clinic and they told me that i would never understand because i didn't have an addictive personality. bullshit.
