Just think about all that has happened in the past 87 years. There have been 2 world wars and numerous other skirmishes around the world and yet we still remain alive. There have been so meny advances in science and technology that would have been seen as marvels centuries ago, but today are almost taken for granted. News travels so fast today that something that happens around the world is on CNN within the hour for all to see. Computers have speeded up data colection to the point that if you can spell and push keys, you can access information almost instantaneously. And yet.....

We still don't know how to relate to each other in a way that allows us to utilize all our "gifts" for the common good of all mankind. What is it about Mankind that keeps us from being the best we can be? ARE WE ALL SO FUCKED UP AND INTO OURSELVES THAT WE CAN'T SEE THAT NO THING, NOTHING, WILL EVR BE THE ANSWER??? So, what is the answer?? You tell me.

I believe these are the days of lasers in the jungle,
Lasers in the jungle somewhere.
Staccato signals of constant information . . .

These are days of miracles and wonder
this is the long distance call
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all
The way we look to a distant constellation
Dying in a corner of the sky
These are the days of miracles and wonder
Don't cry baby don't cry don't cry.

Paul Simon is a visionary genius.

The man is a poet, no doubt, but he can't dance. I saw him in concert in November, and man, the concert was OUT OF THIS WORLD, but Paul does this little weird thing with his hands as he sings.

There is no answer. Everyone has to learn life's lessons by themselves. Some of us are quicker learners than others. Some of us aren't. There will always be some of both.

Seriously, in a way we have all become each other's entertainment. No longer do we look to troubadours for our stories and news. We switch on and there it is, in glorious color.

It isn't entirely bleak; these inventions are marvelous and allow each other to see and, possibly, understand how we all live. On the other hand, one is never entirely sure which genie is on duty in what bottle. More to the point, one never knows the character of the person opening the bottle, and what wishes he or she will make.
