35 Years ago Mount St. Helens...

Wow...that sucks it was that long ago:eek:

I remember our science teacher letting us watch the news reports on it.

Imagine that...there was a time it was a thrill to have a TV in class now kids watch it all day on an ipad and the teachers call it "teaching"

I remember I was at a campground outside of Branson, Mo on vacation, and a friend of my parents had come in from the Northwest. He had a ziplock baggie filled with ash from Mt St Helens.

Memories...

Remember seeing it on TV in class way back when. Can't believe it's been that long ago.

They're still no less serious when they occur now, but much of the mystery and majesty about natural disasters that used to keep us riveted for days has been diminished through tech evolution and Hollywood pomp.

35 years ? Times does fly by. People refused to leave their homes, back then.
It was astounding in its power and scale, even when viewed on television.

My parents spoke of it often as I was going up. They told about the ash falling around Cody, Wy. for a month, counting some of the venting that went on. There were those long hazy sunsets.

My neighbors had family out there. They sent a vile of the ash to them.
