3 Strikes

Can you paste it in for those that don't want to register for a commie paper?

Oh, Lord. The New York Times is a Communist paper?
Strange given its close ties to mega-conglomerate business, and its apparent committment to the market monopoly principle of capitalism.

Imagine how irked you'd be by an actual Communist news source.

For the record, I don't give a rat's ass if it's *gasp* Communist. And even if I did think Communism was the source of all evil: It's just a website, fer cripessake. It's hardly an armed insurrection.

But on the original track--this is hardly news. Anyone who's paid much attention, or done a little research into the criminal injustice system is well aware of the biases of criminal sentencing.

Commie Crap

I sure get tired of people reflexively denoucing anything and everything even slightly not mainstram as commie. You may vote Republican or Democrat, fuck sideways or upside down, or like some obscure band but on the spectrum of diverse thought you are not spanning more than a sliver if automatically vomit up the standard and prescribed definition of commie.

3 strikes is America's way of (not) dealing with those that get left behind in unbridaled capitalism's way. Free the market, open up competition, cut socail programs, etc. all in the name of a level playing feild and some future nirvana of prosperity for all are sung and validated to us all by those that own and represent the interests of a few owning elite in society. The laws that send people to prison are subjective and represent the interests of those whom have the power to shape the interests of a society. In our current capitalist phase this means getting rid of poor and troublesome people who interfere with the accumulation of the rich and those dumb enough to believe everything they say. In America that means locking up perdominatly poor people of non-white heritage for massivly long periods of time for relatively minor, usually drug related offences. There is no coincidence that America treats drugs more seriously than any other country nor that American prison sentences are twice as long as any other first world country. Law and order are important and necessary but ask yourselves in whose interests it serves.

I concur. I much prefer the Georgia law of 2 strikes and you are out.
