Well, I see a plot bunny (If we knock her age up to 18, of course, which erases the reason he's arrested, but I'm sure we can make it work...and by the way, yes, I find the reason he was arrested on this side of the border ridiculous!)
A Canadian military man who police say rode his motorcycle about 3,000 miles to have sex with a 17-year-old Gilroy girl was arrested Sunday night when he showed up at her home. Michael DeBruyn, 24, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was arrested at about 7:15 p.m. after the girl's parents called police, according to Gilroy police Sgt. Wes Stanford.

DeBruyn, who lives in Wallaceburg, Ontario and was on military leave, had been exchanging sexually graphic text messages and photos with the girl for the past two months, according to police. DeBruyn was arrested for suspicion of sending or possession of obscene matter depicting minors, contact of minor with intent to commit sexual offense and annoying and/or molesting a child under 18, according to police. DeBruyn was also found to be in possession of child pornography, according to police.

DeBruyn is in Santa Clara County jail on a immigration hold, according to Stanford, adding that in addition to criminal charges in California, he faces possible action by the Canadian military.
Full story here. I'm sure she was worth it...coming 3,000 miles I mean.

And these guys only went for 500 miles....

The Law can protect the innocent from their own folly, but not the stupid from their delusions.

He wasn't thinking....his blood was elsewhere....

DeBruyn contacted the girl Saturday. She informed her parents, who met with DeBruyn and told him to leave, according to Stanford. But he showed up at the girl's house again Sunday. Police were called, and he was arrested.

Perhaps after riding 3,000 miles by motorcycle, his brain was severely rattled. The girl's parents tell him to get lost on Saturday and he shows up again Sunday. Right now he's probably doing the old, "What was I thinking??" routine.

Once again it shows that men have two heads but only enough blood to fill one at a time.

Riding 3,000 miles on a motor for some young stuff is indicative of a serious problem that jail won't fix...that dude needs his head candled.

That kids a beaut too...teases the shit out of some dude on line, then yells for mom and dad when fantasy becomes reality...she has a bright future as a B-Girl in some waterfront saloon.

Where were mom and dad while this shit was going down? Watching Dancing With The Stars and drinking martinis?

This is wrong on so many levels.

While I don't have kids--and so can't judge how hard it is to keep track of their internet activities (or block them from the internet for that matter), I have to agree. If these pictures of a minor were enough to get the guy in trouble, then something's wrong on mom/dad's end that they don't know their daughter is e-mailing/posting such pictures of herself (especially to a man she never met in person).

We can certainly file the actions of both these "kids" under "young, stupid and hormonal."

And yes, ignorance of the law is no excuse...but if the age of consent isn't the same where he is, well, I can forgive him getting the wrong idea. And I suppose if I drove 3,000 miles on a motorcycle I wouldn't be inclined to just walk away after being told by the parents that she didn't want to see me, not without another try at it. But then, yes, I don't think anyone could trust that I was in my right mind at that point.

And being that the crazy guy we're talking about is a soldier, it was undoubtedly wise to call in the police. ("Yes, I'm fit, strong, combat and weapons trained and I just came 3,000 miles in a hormone haze to visit my girl. What do you mean I can't see her?")

Well, for a Canadian, it's not 3000 miles, it's about 5000 kilometers...

Charged with possession of child porn? I take it that that would be the risque pictures of the female in question? Shouldn't she also be charged with the production of the aforementioned porn?

This is why I find many of the charges ridiculous. If the pictures look like an adult female, why is the possessor of such being charged with child porn? How is the possessor supposed to know that the girl is a year short of being an adult (granted, in this case she *might* have told him that she was only 17--but what if she hadn't? What if she's told him she was 19? How was he supposed to tell from the photographs that she was lying)?

This clearly isn't the same as having pictures of a pubescent child, or taking pictures of a 14 year old girl who you know is 14 and keeping those pictures.

As for why she isn't being charged with the production of the porn...she's a minor
