So what you doing this year? Anybody doing Trim Down Club?

(don't say it St. Ann)

Maybe we can check in here to support each other

Diet-wise, so far, I have bought the fixin's for hot chocolate. My fitness push came from being too lazy to actually combine the ingredients and drink it.

I think I'm coming down with a cold. I managed to avoid it despite dealing with sick people on the regular for the last year or two.

Oh NO! Feel better.

Bite your tongue. This better not be the flu. I've managed to avoid it without a flu shot for the last four years.

I hope you avoid it again this year. I hope we ALL avoid it this year.

Also:

I bought a rather large number of ginger root today to mix with the lemons and honey for tea.

I have unconsciously changed my eating habits in the last year or so. Maybe I'll consciously work on that in 2018.

I eat pretty healthy, but I need to exercise more often. Speaking of which I need to go for a run in the next hour or so.

I'm continuing my low carb eating. I've lost 17 lbs since I started it. It's my lifestyle now.

Next is to start a form of exercise soon. Very soon. I want to keep up my progress.

That ginger will help keep your extremities warm during activity in cold weather.

I'd like to start drinking tea again. I'll need to find healthier ways of sweetening it.

Honey? What else is suggested?

fruit?

I like to flavor my water. I use fresh or frozen fruit, throw it in a pitcher, and fill it with water.

Ape has resolved to hit the gym even harder this year and, I quote, "get serious".

He can shoulder press me.

I might resolve to eat chocolate slightly slower.

Wow, good work :) I'll be carrying on with my pilates class twice a week - I need the discipline of having to get out the house or else I'd skip it. Otherwise, I hadn't thought much about it. Drink less, that's for sure

I grate ginger, a little lemon zest and date paste ;)

date paste :

Soak 2 cups of dates in 2 cups of water overnight or approximately 8 hours.
Remove dates from water and set the water aside.
Puree dates in food processor or blender.
Add a few tablespoons of soaking water to the date puree and continue to blend. Blend until the date paste is creamy.

This is the first thing I've tried that has worked. For years I've failed miserably at losing weight.

Look at the carbs when grocery shopping. If they are high, put it down. You all would laugh if you followed me around the grocery. You'd hear......

Nope, nope, nope, nope....

I do the same! It's amazing how much sugar gets put in things too - like a tin of kidney beans?!

Beans are a great source of protein so I cook with them. Some rinse them, I don't. I make chili pretty often. I could go for some right now.

The servings on stuff is what gets me. A small package of something might have 2.5 servings. It's crazy

I don't have microwave meals often but in the UK the serving is not so big. Once I've eaten it feels like at a friend's house when you hope they're gonna ask if anyone would like some more but then don't. :(
Like last night in fact :D

Ready meals stateside look big enough to feed a family of four. I was stunned by the portion sizes, and I could suddenly see why so many people would struggle to lose weight.

The best diet tip, in my opinion? Buy a smaller plate. A slightly smaller plate will look nice and full with less food on it,

One of the biggest problems that I've seen with people that try dieting is that dieting alone isn't an effective way of losing body fat. It stops you from putting on more weight, but unless you exercise, too, it doesn't help all that much. Actually, if all you do is eat less, your body will lose muscle but not fat. So, yeah, it's just as important to exercise as it is to diet.

Maybe consider changing the type of tea you drink. I've found that the tea bags they sell at the store have a completely different taste than tea cakes. I always had to sweeten Lipton and the other flavored teas I used to buy. These days I drink pu'erh tea and I really like it, even unsweetened. Your mileage may vary, of course. If you do decide to go the tea cake route, there is a small additional investment of a tea pick, gaiwan and possibly also a tea strainer if you don't like little bits of tea leaves in your cup. You can probably find out what you need to know on YouTube.

As sweeteners go, I'm pretty sure raw honey is as healthy as it gets. If I use it though, I try to keep its temperature under 180 degrees. And of course, all things in moderation. Good luck to you and congrats on your progress!

Not entirely accurate.
