Nominations for the 2017 Clitorides Awards are currently open.

Since there are some Literotica stories/authors that have been nominated (and perhaps there should be more), I thought it was worth bringing this a little more attention here.

Thank you for this. I can see several Authors' Hangout people in the nominations.

Is this a "self-nominate and stack the results" festival, or some reasonably representative comp, does anyone know?

It looks like nominees have to be up-voted in order to make the finals. I see ChloeTzang and PuckIt on the nominee list. Did I miss anyone?

There are a lot of Lit authors on the list. Can't list all of them I identified, but MSTarot, Lien_Geller, blackrandi1958, rlfj, and WatchingCloud are all published on Lit, and in most cases I checked the story that's entered is on Lit.

Puckit is in there and Girlinthemoon is from lit.

PayenBrant is a lit author as well and back when he first started he reached out to me to ask if he could write an alternate ending to a story of mine he read that pissed him off. I told him to go for it and he posted it then got the bug and has done really well for himself with a dark non human piece Mine yours.

He is working on a story-not sure if he finished it where he is using one of my characters as a guest star in one of the chapters.

He's one of three authors here who say my work inspired them to write. Another of them is listed in your post. Keep votes, ratings, contest wins and even some book sales, to me there's never been a bigger compliment to me than I inspired someone.

Sucks they're all better than me now :D

Oh really? I had no idea, never even heard of this one. I'll go take a look. Thanks :rose:

The archive has results going back to 1999 with a few missing years. On the one hand, if Chloe has never heard of it, that's not a good sign. ;) On the other hand, she didn't nominate herself, so that is.

I imagine you could self nominate all you need to register is an e-mail address.

I'm sure there's a lot of stacking going on. You can vote for as many as you like-I just went and voted for some of the lit nominees. So its easily manipulated just keep signing in with different e-mails. I have no idea what the prize is, but as we've seen here in the annuals and other contests people will pile on their friends and some people will sock puppet vote for themselves.

The award is a pretty old-school thing, so I'm kind of surprised more people here haven't heard of it.

It came out of alt.sex.stories in 1999, and was an annual thing until 2006. It was started back up again in 2013 by (I believe, at least in part) the guy behind storiesonline.net.

There also used to be the Silver Clitorides, aka the "Clit of the Month", which were for best sex story published in Usenet/online that month, but that's long-defunct.

Er, wait. What?

**pulls up link and scans for name...**

Well, I'll be damned. And it only took me five years and twenty-four attempts (under three different names) to be nominated by someone other than myself. (Yeah, I actually did that one year early on as Acktion.)

Hell, even if I don't make the finals, or get a single other vote, this is already a red letter day for me.

Looking at the "Best Incest Story" category, it's dominated by storiesonline.net. There's 21 stories in that category - 4 from Literotica, 1 from asstr.org and the other 16 from storiesonline.net. The Literotica stories have 1, 1, 2 and 1 nominations.

I think when Lush stories stopped carrying incest because they got tired of the headaches of people who kept trying to slip under age in, a lot of those authors and their fan base went to SOL rather than here.

I don't spend time trying to create graphs and do in depth analysis or any of that, but I pointed out a couple years ago views/votes/scores were down in incest for a lot of the authors and other categories. That would have been the opposite if a lot of the Lush crowd came here.

What I/T stories there are from lit?

I only put up one last year for April Fools It did very well here, but none of my I/T stuff gets a lot of notice past whatever votes and contests. Return of Molly Minx placed in a contest in 2016 but other wise no acclaim I tell you!

That's true about most of the categories. I only knew that nominations were open after seeing a link posted on SOL, and I'd expect that's where most nominators are coming from.

If I knew how to pimp the award more widely than just tossing a post up here, I would. ;)

Yep, and due to that, the people on that site are the ones most aware that the awards even exist, and therefore the nominations are always overloaded with stories from there.

True, but that doesn't have to be the case.

SOL puts a single-line reminder on the top of its story pages that says "Time is running out to nominate your favourites for the Clitorides Awards" and links to the award site, which notice stops showing up after you click to dismiss it. That's pretty much it.

Lit could easily use a similar reminder or some other means of letting its readers know about the awards.

You also get the occasional author who pushes their readers to vote, but then, I'd expect you'd get the same here if there was more awareness.

I have been nominated for Best New Author and My Fall and Rise for Best Long Erotic Story.

Thank you to LoquiSordidaAdMe for letting me know.

Huh. Never heard of this before, but someone nominated a couple of mine. Can I use this like an Oscar nomination to boost readership? :)

Wouldn't this violate Lit's policy of not promoting other erotic story sites? The Site doesn't have much of an incentive to send its authors to storiesonline.net to participate in those awards.

I've been checking in there every couple of days and up-voting any authors I recognize from the AH. Ya gotta support the home team, right?

SolarRay also has a new nomination over there since NotWise compiled his list.

Yep. For what it's worth. Don't think it'll mean much to most readers but hey, why not. Read up on it and it seems it used to be fairly popular

Thanks Loqui! Yeah, I noticed I suddenly had a few votes there. I figured what the hell and added a brief note and link to my author page. I know nothing about this award either, but if it gets me a few more reads, great.

Is there a particular date that the voting period ends? I didn't see that.

Used to be? So, guess there's no awards dinner with evening wear on the red carpet or wild after parties. Shame...

Laurel has been asked about the Clitorides in previous years and given permission to post links to it.
