Three and a half weeks to the regular season opener. Start getting your thoughts together about your favorite teams, and get ready to play!

(If no one objects or already has planned to do so, I'll volunteer to keep the stats and publish 'em on a regular basis.) All entrants welcomed. Schedule for each week will be published at least three days prior to the first game of the week.

7:00 p.m. EDT Thursday, 9/6/07 deadline for the first week. (New Orleans at Indy, 8:30 p.m. that night.)

11:00 a.m. EDT Sunday, 9/16/07 deadline week two.

I'll be there. Desert Rose says she will too. Maybe KC will.

Great! I'm really looking forward to it. While I like playing baseball/softball, I just can't get into *watching* it anymore, except perhaps in the playoffs, basketball and hockey turn me completely off. Somehow, I do find watching golf of great interest - maybe it's because I'm still trying to understand why I can't even muster up a *semblance* of the swings they have. OTOH, when someone really screws up a shot, there's always the satisfaction of thinking to myself, "Wow - *I* can do *that!*" LOL.

Football, though, is my true love for watching on TV. I'm even thinking about adding in a weekly *college* football pool, with say, twenty games a week. Any interest there, folks?

WriterDom loves college ball better than pro. I'm sure he'd be interested.

Funny how we speak for each other all of a sudden. LOL

You can count myself and northwoods_Dom in as well. We are both football fans, though we differ on teams we like lol.
We don't watch much college football though so we would probably stick with the pro stuff.

We could do the top 25 college games.

Which means no Cocks. Woof Woof.

Carolina is going to there though. Coach Asshole has been recruiting well.

Am I to understand this to be somewhat of a fantasy league??
Love football both college and pro and would enjoy participating.

OH - COLTS REPEAT IN 08!!

i would like to participate as well, if that's ok....

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!

What we did with the NFL in '04 and '05 was straight-up matches - no beating the spread, over/under, etc. - just the total points for the Monday night game as a tiebreaker for each week. I think that worked pretty well... if y'all don't have a serious objection, I don't see why we couldn't just continue that.

For college, I think top 20 or 25 would probably be a good idea after the second or third week, but the first few weeks, many of them have games scheduled against teams projected (back when they signed the game contracts, which could be as much as 3-5 years ago) to be patsies so the strong teams could pad their stats a little before getting into serious conference and inter-conference play. Those games, in most cases, would be walkover picks, and I would rather have games to pick that would be closer to pick-'ems than ones that all the lines have Team A favored by 47 points over Team B. Another option - we could have all the college pool entrants who want to send in a list of 5, 8, 10 games they'd like to see for the coming week, which could then be compared and the top 20-25 choices make up the list... I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of I-AA or even Div. II or Div. III games in there now and then, too. However, that's just MHO - what do y'all think? This is *everyone's* game, not just mine!

Let's get some opinions, and/or other ideas for selecting which college games to go into the pool.

I think as for the Pro's..pretty straight forward.

College is a whole different world...but I one were to include college, there are always a few games that feature top teams or great rivalries early in the season. Those featured games could be the chosen few used in the picking process.

I'd rather not mix the 2.

Anyone interested in yahoo fantasy football?

I had no thought of mixing the two - my thought was to have two separate pools, and anyone who wanted could join in either one or both as they chose.

Agreed...would tend to become a bit on the cumbersome side and confusing for the non-gridiron oreinted.
Okay... I'll try to make this a little less confusing... what I'm suggesting is one thread/pool for NFL, one thread/pool for college - players can choose to play NFL or college or both. Stats, etc., can be kept entirely separate. Or shall we simplify to the lowest point and forget about college?

Here's what I want: an NFL pool and one that has no point spread shit... I don't understand point spread. I'm just not that smart.

Otherwise, I don't care what you guys do.

Of course, this is just what I want. You guys can decide to do whatever you want and whatever is fun for you. I can play or not. ;-)

No point spread shit - straight up Team A over Team B. That's a given. I ain't gonna mess around with that stuff.

Okay then... my needs are met. And we all know how important that is.

Thank you.

LMAO

We're not reinventing the wheel here people. LOL

That said...i have zero interest in college games and won't be participating in that at all.

Okay... looks like the major interest is in NFL games only, which is fine with me - less to keep up with. ;)

I'll post the schedules at least by Monday, 9/3 for Week 1, Tuesday of following weeks.

ETA: And Betticus, I think you, Shank and kiten would look wonderful in the little cheerleader skirts and bare-midriff tops - so you're in!

As usual I'll be in as well for the NFL games, and most likely do as poorly as always! lol

Okay, guys and gals... it's time! Please post your picks by 7 p.m. EDT Thursday. Good luck to everyone!

Thank god cause I don't understand that crap either. It's like how can you pick a team to win and they lose but yet you still win?
